Batman Arkham Knight free with new 970/980's

Isn't the 980 Ti just around the corner?

My understanding is that Nvidia is trying to offload their 970/980 cards before officially announcing/releasing the 980 ti and/or waiting for AMD to launch/announce their new flagship. I really hope the 980 Ti is around the corner as I was hoping to upgrade before The Witcher 3 comes out. My 780 will play it fine, just not as well as I'd personally like. I plan on upgrading to a 980 Ti and using my 780 as a dedicated PhysX card for the all that beautiful hair.

It might just be newegg that does it. Hopefully not, because it`s ridiculous that someone would be ineligible for a promotion mere weeks after they bought the card that applies to it

It's not ridiculous. People bought the card knowing what came with it with no expectation of more.

Yep. You think people would realize that Nvidia and AMD do these multiple new game bundles every year and start waiting. But no, OMG 20% more power than my current card GIMME GIMME

Well, looks like I'm upgrading sooner than I originally planned. I was going to wait until later in the year if not next year to to either get a PS4 or finally replace my SLI'd 460s and it looks like the PC upgrade has won out. I've been thinking about doing it sooner lately and this deal pushed me over the edge to do it now especially with nothing from NVidia seeming to be coming out anytime soon to replace it. Yay for going back to one card (and less heat and power consumption that'll come with it) after almost four years and doing it with one that is around two or three times more powerful even if an 1/8th of the VRAM is nearly useless.

Are only certain 970/980 cards eligible? I bought the EVGA SSC version a couple weeks ago, but that one doesn't show as including the games now (even though the first one I bought did include Witcher 3). I was thinking of going SLI, but would like to get the game codes. Eases the sting a little. :)

Is it the 3975 model on NewEgg? If so it wasn't showing up on the page when they updated but when I re-added it to my cart all three items showed up with the card.

I tried Amazon chat, got denied because of the length of time (and the suggestion to return/rebuy which I am not interested in). Those of you who are more persistent than I am, I wish you luck.

My multiple bad Amazon chat experiences have lead me to think it's complete trash and you're better just calling them, one chat was so bad that when I called into Amazon they actually apologized for how bad it was and gave me a $20 gift card to make up for it, granted that was a few years ago.

Yeah, I agree. It's not as if in the terms that you agree to at the time of purchase that it says your entitled to any free promos after purchase. I was in the same boat with my 780 when I bought mine a few years ago. I called Newegg, but they told me it was too long after my purchase for the promo to be eligible for the 2 free games. Was fine with me, I understood what I bought and was completely satisfied. The sense of entitlement from some people blows my mind sometimes. By all means ask if you bought a card a week or two before, but don't give out this sense of, "fuck _______ because they won't give me something free for the thing I bought, when it wasn't offered when I bought it." It comes off as douchey.

It's ridiculous for someone to not be given a code for a promotion that started weeks after they bought the very card that applies to it. They would have had no way of knowing this promotion was coming, and if they did know they would have waited for it. So to not accommodate these people that made the mistake of giving these sites their money too soon is perfectly unreasonable, especially with the abundance of codes they have. I know they're not obligated to give us the code, but for matters of courtesy it's still a nice thing to do given that the customer in question already shelled out the money.

This is so tempting. What brand would you guys recommend for a GTX 980?

I usually like how my Asus cards have performed in the past and that's what I went with on the 980 purchase on Friday. That being said, I haven't actually had any experience with said 980 to give feedback on it specifically.

I literally bought a 970 on April 16. Is that too late for me to qualify for the Batman offer? Got my Witcher 3 GOG d/l code and already redeemed it. Will be awesome if I could "kill 2 birds with one stone..."

Think about what you are saying. It's like if you ordered a pizza 3 weeks ago and then after you ordered the pizza asking where the free pizza is that is part of the B1G1 free promotion now running. Does it make the pizza you had worse? No, it just makes the person who orders now have a better deal. They don't advertise promotions ahead of time for anything really as it would drastically affect sales. There is NO obligation to accommodate a customer in that regard.

Some/most places will accommodate you in regards to GPU's and promo's but they don't have to.

It's not ridiculous at all, and this coming from someone who purchased a 980 on the 25th of last month.

Titan X buyer over here am cry. Nothing free for us.

I got nothing from Nvidia with my original Titan X purchase, but ever since I got rid of that card and purchased an EVGA SC from NCIX here in Canada, they've given me 2 Witcher 3 codes and a Batman voucher just last night. So, if you bought your Titan X from a regular retailer, you should maybe send them a message about the promotion. You might get quite lucky. :-)

I hadn't planned on buying a new graphics card within 14 months of building my new system. >_<''

Is it worth it? (Currently on a 280x)

Nope. Stick with the 280x.

Edit: For some reason I thought of 290x when I wrote that. A 970 is a fair bit better than a 280x, but if it's worth it is up to you. Check out some benchmarks.

Bought a 980 in a new HP machine a month ago, it's still set to ship next week. HP said I'd get the Witcher because of when I ordered, but likely not Batman.

:(

That's not really applicable to this when we're talking about people having to spend $60 on a game just because they shelled out the money for their card a little too soon. I know that the distributor doesn't have to give them the code and they're under no obligation to, but they should - because it's just the courteous thing to do - it doesn't inconvenience them in any way because they have an abundance of codes - and it improves customer relations. Win win win.

Hmm, did you talk to a manager w/ customer support? They should be siding with the buyer on this, especially if they don't support these types of auctions. The seller should be the one doing the due diligence on what they are allowed to sell per eBay policies. A buyer should have the right to assume that if an item is listed for sale, the seller is in compliance with eBay policies. If they are not, and the buyer gets shafted - the should be refunding the buyer - not letting a seller who is breaking eBay policy to steal people's money.

Yes. They didn't care. The user's account got closed, but that's it.

I won't disagree with this. It's the nice/better thing to do and it does build customer loyalty, but again they have no obligation and people acting as if they do come across as whiny babies.

Do EA ever get involved in deals like this, I'll likely be getting a new card for Battlefront and it would be pretty sweet if I got it free.

If you have a gtx 970 then chances are you will buy games that push the card, The Witcher and Batman.

Just finished up with Newegg support and got the code's order number, I'm just waiting on the email now.

GTX 980 that was ordered on 4/25. Pretty much just said that I ordered it a little over a week ago, and I was wondering if it would be possible to get a Batman voucher. No hassle.

I was hesitant going in, but if you recently purchased a valid card I'd totally go for it.

Newegg honored the promotion for the card I bought last week and is sending me the code. Definitely worth contacting them.

I always go EVGA when it comes to NVidia cards. *just bought an EVGA 970 to get in on this promotion)
Their warranty is fantastic, transferrable, and doesn't void when you overclock.

Customer service has been great for my friends who have had to utilize it.

I'm just hoping SuperBiiz puts up the deal too. Never went through them before, so this is somewhat uncharted territory.

^While I did recommend Asus, I'd also support any EVGA recommendation. Never had problems there and iirc their support is great.

I'm in a live chat with them at this time. Hopefully I have the same result. Product isn't even at my house yet so I believe they will honor it. Really nice company in my experience.

Still waiting for the 8GB versions.

Is that confirmed to be even happening?

Newegg did honor the addition of Batman Arkham Knight for me. Representative was incredibly nice and further proved why I shop exclusively at Newegg for computer components.

Good to hear! I've never had a problem with Newegg. Really hope this dealer will play ball the same.

Been a Newegg customer for 10 years. Bought a Titan X from them a few weeks ago.

Contacting their customer support and see if they'll give me the code for Batman. If not, oh well, but no harm in trying!

This is for 970 and 980s.Titans aren't included in the offer.

Picked up a 970 a few weeks ago & the awesome people at Newegg hooked me up with a Batman code no questions asked! When I go to redeem it though, I get a "This coupon is not active yet" error. Is there another way to redeem the code through Steam or do i just have to wait?

From a few pages ago, by a NVidia rep:

The codes should be activated later today. Apologies for the inconvenience.

It really doesn't hurt to ask. As I said earlier, I got both the Witcher 3 and Batman from NCIX with my EVGA Titan X SC purchase. Evo X has been shopping at Newegg for 10 years like he said, so they might that into account and grant him the code.

Can confirm Amazon
chat
is not willing to help unless I return the (3 day old) card.

Edit:

Call, don't chat. Amazon is sending me 2 codes now.

Guess what? I just scored both Witcher 3 and Batman for free from Newegg for a Titan X I bought at launch on March 19th. :D

That's why I say there's no harm in trying!

Of course, I'm sure having a history of spending thousands of dollars there every year helped.

From a business perspective, it pays to keep their high worth customers happy.

These codes cost them almost nothing. They'll more than make it up when I buy all the parts for my Skylake build from them later this year.

I'm impressed with Newegg's customer service here. They seem to be out-doing amazon which is pretty dang hard to do these days.

Yep. Newegg customer service is definitely superior.

I remember they also gave me a free code for Far Cry 4 for my 980 purchase, even though the promotion for that stared a month after my purchase.

Tempted to return both my cards and just order from Newegg..

I am tempted, but I need to see some Witcher 3 benchmarks first. I would want at least 30-40% increase with 970 over my current 280X.

yea, Newegg knows how to service people better with PC parts. Amazon is following the same general policy across all their products.

Been badly wanting a 970 to replace my crossfired 270x's, but kept telling myself to wait for the new GPUs. I don't think I can pass up on this deal though. Anyone know a good way to sell GPUs other than eBay? One of those GPUs was a Christmas gift from the woman so I have to figure out how to discretely sell it lol.
