Not even the "Same sort of buildup" - I mean - Shooter's Secret Wars was a shitty comic. This is at least worth reading.
Agreed

Isn't that two thirds? It's been awhile since I read it, but I remember the first Secret Wars being 12 issues long.
No, I mean Secret Wars (2015) is 8 issues long, not 12.
Actually, what was the last Marvel event that was 12 issues? I as well always associate that number of issues with events but I'm drawing a blank. Civil War was 7, I remember Secret Invasion being 8, Siege was 4. How many issues was AvX?

AvX had 12.
Oh God, yeah, of course Age of Ultron was 10 issues of pure misery.
So what everyone's guess about the state of the post SW universe? Incorporate characters from 1610 and 616 into one world? How long until parallel worlds start cropping back up and it's back to business as usual? 6 months?
AvX needed 6-8 for the story it ended up telling.
I doubt that most of the Ultimate characters survive beyond Miles. Most are beyond redundant. Also, it took 2-3 years to work through the ramifications of Civil War. This feels similar.
Ultimate Reed lives or we riot.
who was the third kid? I'm drawing a blank. and don't say 'ruby summers' because she doesn't count.
And forced? not really. they didn't have to raise cable into the person he became, they could have just passed as mutants and lived normally there and let apocalypse do his thing.
if you didn't read the cyclops and phoenix series, you should- it's one of the better things to come out of that era, and it really shows how great a family scott/jean/nathan could have been in better circumstances.
Plus, dragging around your hundreds of years old comatose alternate timeline daughter for a decade has to get you some bonus points.
Peter and MJ survive and retire to the new Marvel Universe.
i would never say ruby summers counts, thats slayvens girl.
Can I use this as my avatar?
This always makes me laugh:

X-man also doesn't count. He was grown from AoA cyclops (and jeans) genetic material by sinister without their knowledge iirc
Well, he only has two kids, and one is from an alternate future where he got killed off so doesn't count.
The answer here is Cable.
Cyclops was willing to give up his only (legitimate) son to a time traveler from the future, knowing (at the time) he would never see him again because it was the only way to save him- putting his personal feelings aside for what was good for the kid.
Ok. "so what" you say. That's selfless, but not being a good Dad. Cable would agree, coming back from the future to tell Cyclops what a worthless piece of crap he was, leaving him to grow up in a hellish reality where apocalypse rules everything.
And cable had a point.
UNTIL we find out that after the cyclops and jean grey wedding, Rachel Grey pulls Scott and Jean thousands of years into the future to save a young nate grey and raise him.
Scott and Jean spent about 15 years (give or take) in the year 3000 with busted powers and a broken leg (Rachel didn't have enough energy to bring them there at full strength, and scott was injured in an early attack) not only raising cable in apocalypse's future into someone morally and physically strong enough to overthrow him, but also caring for a geriatric rachel grey that had put herself into a coma using up the last of her powers.
You can say a lot about Cyclops, but "bad father" isn't one of them.

OG Nick would've cockslapped the illuminati, called the Cabal a bunch of pansies, and then burned the Ultimate earth to the ground.
I wish OG Nick Fury was still around.
Fuck them for downplaying him and then outright getting rid of him in favor of his dumbass son who wishes he was Ultimate Nick.

mr secrets on secrets would have gotten his ass blown out, only to be revealed to be a lmd the whole time
He's like twice her age. She should be with Miles. The best part of this event is that Spider Gwen can now end up with my boy Peter Parker 616. Truly a OTP of the ages.

I have a question. What happened to Spider-verse? Was that wrapped up?

Gwen is like 19-20.He's like twice her age. She should be with Miles.
Guessing this will just be another event rather than any sort of reboot. Probably ends in some time-travel reset button that returns everything to status quo (multiverse, abstracts, and all). Hell, I wouldn't be surprise if the Ultimate universe survive and just get ignored by Marvel with the exception of Miles, who will get stuck in 616 like the Age of Apocalypse stragglers.
It has been a very long time since I read the original Secret Wars, but I still think it delivers one of the all time greatest Doctor Doom moments ever.

Gwen is like 19-20.
Peter's like mid to lateish 20s.
How does time travel play into events like this? Is it ever brought up when people travel into the future that in reality shouldn't exist?
Talking about DC and Marvel together. Although it mostly applies to DC I guess.
The way I view it, when a reality is destroyed, it is destroyed at all points in the timeline simultaneously. The past, present, and future are destroyed all at once.
I want Richards to find that all was saved thanks to Doom.
I tend to agree but we saw in Avengers a future where all that had already happened. My best guess is that as universes are destroyed, so are their timelines but when they are somehow restored, their future exists again. The way I view it, when a reality is destroyed, it is destroyed at all points in the timeline simultaneously. The past, present, and future are destroyed all at once.
No, she's college.Isn't she still in high school? And I thought Peter was 30ish.

Sorry if this was answered in this thread previously: When did all the Cyclops Nation X and his phoenix egg happened? That wasn't in all the Xbooks i read. Will this be in Uncanny 400 or something?
Ultimate Fury seems like a prime candidate to cross and stick, too.

Do we really need two Samuel L. Jacksons walking around?
