AvX was 12, but that shipped 3x a month.

Axis was 9 issues of shit, but most events seem to be 6-8 now.

Oh God, yeah, of course Age of Ultron was 10 issues of pure misery.

I like how Bendis spent 5 issues having Hawkeye rescue Spider-man, convincing Cap to act, and having that team of Red Hulk, Task Master, and Black Panther (who died falling down some stairs) collect Ultron tech, only to have none of that stuff matter at all.

It's like he got bored halfway through his story and decided to do something else.

I doubt that most of the Ultimate characters survive beyond Miles. Most are beyond redundant. Also, it took 2-3 years to work through the ramifications of Civil War. This feels similar.

And forced? not really. they didn't have to raise cable into the person he became, they could have just passed as mutants and lived normally there and let apocalypse do his thing.

if you didn't read the cyclops and phoenix series, you should- it's one of the better things to come out of that era, and it really shows how great a family scott/jean/nathan could have been in better circumstances.

Plus, dragging around your hundreds of years old comatose alternate timeline daughter for a decade has to get you some bonus points.

Well, he only has two kids, and one is from an alternate future where he got killed off so doesn't count.

The answer here is Cable.

Cyclops was willing to give up his only (legitimate) son to a time traveler from the future, knowing (at the time) he would never see him again because it was the only way to save him- putting his personal feelings aside for what was good for the kid.

Ok. "so what" you say. That's selfless, but not being a good Dad. Cable would agree, coming back from the future to tell Cyclops what a worthless piece of crap he was, leaving him to grow up in a hellish reality where apocalypse rules everything.

And cable had a point.

UNTIL we find out that after the cyclops and jean grey wedding, Rachel Grey pulls Scott and Jean thousands of years into the future to save a young nate grey and raise him.

Scott and Jean spent about 15 years (give or take) in the year 3000 with busted powers and a broken leg (Rachel didn't have enough energy to bring them there at full strength, and scott was injured in an early attack) not only raising cable in apocalypse's future into someone morally and physically strong enough to overthrow him, but also caring for a geriatric rachel grey that had put herself into a coma using up the last of her powers.

You can say a lot about Cyclops, but "bad father" isn't one of them.

What i got from all of that is that 1. Cyke is FAR too trusting of strangers with his offspring to ever be considered a good father, and 2. If cyke and jean were indeed legit in the future raising Cable, why would he ever go back to the past to tell them they were shitty parents?

Also 3. never travel via Rachel Timelines.

I doubt it. They spent 3 years setting this up. Obviously, they aren't going to end the series with 99% of their IP erased from existence, but I expect some major shakeups in the wake of Secret Wars #8.

The way I view it, when a reality is destroyed, it is destroyed at all points in the timeline simultaneously. The past, present, and future are destroyed all at once.

I tend to agree but we saw in Avengers a future where all that had already happened. My best guess is that as universes are destroyed, so are their timelines but when they are somehow restored, their future exists again.

Bendis may have hinted at the Phoenix Egg at the end of Uncanny X-Men #32 so we still might get to see some development towards that in the three issues (34-35 & 600) we have left.

I think Hickman's Avengers #38 was the first time we actually saw Cyclops during the Time Runs Out arc and this was also the first mention of the Phoenix Egg. And then he appears again in Avengers #42 where we actually see the Phoenix Egg.
