Jeb Bush says, like his brother, he would have gone to war with Iraq

He's very clearly talking about the intelligence presented at the time and admitting that in hind sight it was faulty. People are being purposefully dense because it's election season.

I was 16 years old at the time and even I could tell intelligence was being blatantly cherry-picked to support a pre-supposition. The whole conflict was so... unprovoked. Absolutely nothing changed on Saddam's end in the whole lead-up to war.

if nonsense got you banned, this place would be dead.

Yeah, I'm not sure that was ban-worthy. Unless there is something we are missing or not privy too.

I think it was inevitable though.

Nonsense is great, as long as it's succinct. Don't try and camouflage it amongst paragraphs and paragraphs of drivel, hoping that people will ignore most of it and just go "hmmm, dude wrote a lot so he probably knows what he's talking about"

Hillary Clinton wouldn't have asked for the evidence to be trumped up in the first place Jeb, you obtuse fuck.

She already lost one election due to the Iraq War.

It's just about the last topic she will ever want to bring up.

She isn't doubling down for one. She doesnt have to be the one to hammer that point. Let the PAC's and liberal groups make that case.

She also has the cover of making the case that she was at the mercy of the Bush administrations intentionally deceptive intelligence that painted a false narrative to lawmakers.

That she is wise enough to not then turn around and put the man who is responsible for one of the most horrible executive actions of the 20th century as an advisor.

“And so would almost everybody that was confronted with the intelligence they got.”

"Torture used to extract false information to justify Iraq War

Buried in footnote 857 of the report is this remarkable account of how the CIA rendered a detainee to an unknown country, had him tortured, and then used the false information he provided about Saddam’s WMDs and “alliance” with al Qaeda to justify the U.S. attack, including information used by Colin Powell at his notorious 2003 U.N. speech (via Sam Husseini):

I think not....

Jeb Bush is doing everything he can to give the Democrats the presidency. And yet, liberals are still afraid that Bernie Sanders can't beat what the GOP is offering up. LOL. If liberals don't choose Bernie Sanders as the Democratic nominee then liberals lose the right to complain about Wall Street and all matters where big money is a factor. Seriously, you can't complain about a problem when the solution is offered up and you vote against it.

Empty Vessel is smarter than probably all of neogaf combined especially when it comes to monetary economics.

Doesn't change how deliberately obtuse he is on other topics. He's outright intellectually dishonest so he can continue to believe his warped fantasies. You might not be familiar with his insane mental gymnastics in all the closed Ukraine threads. I can certainly see how you would have a favorable opinion of him if all you read from him was confined to poligaf.

I am not American, so maybe I am missing the context, but what is wrong about that statement?

Because it perfectly encapsulates the desire to give off this image of being a bad ass action hero over actually doing the right thing.

Brown people with beards and funny sounding names are guilty until proven innocent. No need for evidence or due process, just drone strike the shit out of a village because you can hand wave it away with minimal public outcry.

Twenty people died? They're trying to claim we hit a wedding party? Don't worry, it was in Pakistan. You know who else was in Pakistan? Bin Laden, ergo everyone in Pakistan is Al Qaeda. Better fire another Hellfire missile or two just to be safe.

Being progressive is about admitting you were wrong and that you want to learn from your mistakes.

Jeb is making his brother his advisor.

Jeb isn't trying to distance himself from this. Hillary still can.
Hillary is not a progressive. Give me a lifelong progressive over someone who "got smart" at age 61 anyday.

Anyone that was for the Iraq war was either a self interested gangmember (Bush Administration) or a goober who took the racist baiting. "Brown people, bad, scary!" was all it took to invade a country that had nothing to do with 9/11. Hilldawg is a goober.

If a dictator's atrocities against their citizens give us all the reason we need to invade, then we should be invading a whole lot more countries. Many African nations should be US. North Korea should be US. Many more.

Saddam being a brutal asshole is not a valid reason to topple the nation's entire government to force a completely different governing style and then cross fingers that it works.

This will hurt Jeb.

Hillary can hammer this all day long.

She voted for the war. I guess on the bright side she at least admits it was a mistake. So while she can't win that debate as well as Obama did in 2008, she'll still win it. I'm amazed republicans can't admit reality on this. But then again this is textbook neoconservative bullshit: never admit mistakes because doing so allegedly shows weakness.

isn't that why they said "weps of mass destruction / chemicals" or whatever for further justification?

Bernie Sanders would just win it outright.

He cant. Good thing he wont be the nominee.

Doesn't surprise me. Jeb's entire foreign policy team is basically W's. He's listening to the same liars and crooks that got us into Iraq.

That alone is a dealbreaker for me. He'll never get my vote.

Him not being the nominee is only good if you want to continue the status quo of letting big money buy elections. Hillary is not a threat to the status quo.

If Sanders isn't the nominee, then anyone who didn't vote for him loses the right to complain about almost every liberal domestic issue in the country.

Oh Dont worry my friend. I wont be complaining. I am confident my girl Hillary will deliver with reasonable expectations.

Sanders wouldn't be able to do much of anything with a republican house and senate. And that's assuming he became president - he won't. He's unelectable.

I understand holding your brother down but Jeb, we not trying to hear about how you would have done things the same way that universally hated president did it.

Looks like he's decided that was the wrong answer and is walking it back:

A tweet from Zeke Miller, Time's political reporter:

The Iraq War is not popular! Who knew?

ROFL.

A whole decade to mull over and he said he would still go.

A day after getting told by a college student he says he wouldn't.

This type of naive idealism is dangerous smh

haha wow

Just yesterday he refused to give an answer because answering would dishonor the troops. So now...?

It's almost like he just woke up and decided to start a campaign. Whose running his campaign if they thought the Iraq decision wouldn't come up and didn't plan for it properly.
