The stream, Iga explained that he went with the middle design over the Cross Hammer because it's actually multiple weapons. The top crystal/ice part makes it into a hammer but the base is actually more like a rapier or a spear. It's kind of a little bit of hidden trick with it. That makes it sound super awesome, honestly. lol

I hope all weapons have dual forms like the trickweapons of Bloodborne. It'd be really cool if you could just switch to hammer mode to beat up on armoured dudes :).
I think "rapier" might have been the wrong word though, it's closer to a Halberd

Do it.

I love the fact that there's a physical release. I'm getting really tired of the 'non-AAA means digital only' mindset. I would absolutely have paid $60 for a physical release of Axiom Verge for example.

Interestingly some doujin titles in Japan are now going to be physical on PS4, there's no reason more games like this can't have at least small physical print runs even if the prices have to reflect the smaller run. I'd buy them, I think a lot of people would.

Also poster half a page up complaining about $30. Another thing that needs to change is the recent mindset that smaller game = cheap.

indeed. these things should be available in regular retail, not only via KS. i need more 2D games.

is the artist the same that did the wii castlevnia fighter character designer?
It's not that bad. The part that bugs me the most is Mirriam having a gauntlet on her left hand but not her right and a pauldron on her right shoulder but not her left because ASYMMETRY IS KEWL™.

Interesting that the "runes" are the numbers outside the stained glass that keep it from spreading all over her body. Apparently when the crystals completely cover a person that person turns into a demon.

Stream mentioned that Gebel is already turning "dark" or whatnot because so much of his body is covered in them, and that he can't use the runes like Miriam can.

More like he refuses to use them I think. He probably wants to be a demon at this point, given that he summoned the castle. Miriam's not the one with the rune-making power based on what was said in the stream. It's Johannes (who also you'll note has a whip at his side in the concept art), so he's the one keeping her from turning. Also explains why she has spots of crystal that are not enclosed if she can't perform the ritual herself.

It kind of reminds me of Santier's Spear from Dark Souls 2

It's basically a halberd stuck on a piece of ice. Love it

The stained glass theme/motif is so fucking cool. Can't wait to see the implementations of it throughout the game. Giant stained glass skull face bosses!

Those swords look so bad LMAO. I mean, stained glass? really?

The Aesthetic of the game is Stained-Glass. That's why the colors are so blown out in a very specific way. It's not quite gothic in that way. I still like it and I see what they're going for. It could end up looking REALLY GOOD in motion.

I think the kickstarter reward art shows a better sense of facial expression than the initial concept art. It's more of that CV style dignified grace type look on that piece.

I'll be supporting this for sure. I just have to decide if I just want a downloadable copy or if I want to splurge on the $100 physical set with soundtrack.

Either way, I'm excited!

I was going to back but I can't get on board with that art style. Yuck. The game's already funded at this point, so I'll just wait and see how the final product's received.

well, your $28 probably won't result in an actual product until years from now. I kickstarted Sports Friends, and after awhile the wait gets kinda annoying. Just know that going in.

I'm honestly quite surprised they don't have a medium option thats $15-20

most kickstarter games give you a pretty decent discount up front, and this game I wouldn't expect to be more than 30-40 at retail, but I fucking love igavania's so I'm in. I just think a cheaper tier with the game would be a little easier for most to bite on.

I think asymmetry is cool:(
Asymmetry can be good in character design, but not when the asymmetrical elements feel out of place like that random gauntlet. It's just detail for the sake of detail.

I generally feel like character designers have this issue with armor; they use it to add detail and little else. Just toss a gauntlet or greave on a character design and then forget about actually integrating it with the rest of the design.

Here's something I'm wondering. With the physical plus digital copy tiers you'd essentially get 2 Steam copies (well if you go for that platform). Wonder if you could mix and match platforms? Could stop being lazy and ask I suppose :p

This is a good question. They're not all that clear when it comes to Steam keys. Are physical backers really supposed to wait until the package arrives to play or will the developers email a code ahead of time, like virtually all other Kickstarters.

Kinda wish the stained glass on the main character was a gradient filling and had more transparency.

As is it looks like a tattoo rather than stained glass.
It'll probably look much better in-game since it'll be a 3D model so the crystallized flesh should have reflections and etc

You're still going to pretend you have no idea what everyone's talking about, huh? Keep fucking that chicken, man.

I'd rather cook and eat chickens thank you very much <3

To your credit, at least you gave a complaint that makes sense/others could clearly understand with the color palates <3

It's the interaction with light that makes stained glass really nice. So, you know, that's glowing glass, dancing rays of light. The interplay.

As it stands, yeah, it looks really flat.

I imagine you can augment weapons for abilities, the same way you can augment Miriam for skills.

Game will probably be $40 when it comes out is my guess.

Games on Kickstarter are more expensive than the regular sale price, since you are paying for the project to happen initially.

The released games are regularly cheaper. I am betting on 20$ digital.

Maybe this is one area where a shader in a 3D engine could make it pop in a way that the concept art couldn't.

If this is surface level, though, shouldn't you be able to see blood and muscle if it's stained glass-like crystal? Or if it's working all the way through her body, shouldn't you be able to see through her now-transparent body in the affected areas and see crystallized bones and muscle in layers?

I'm not sure the concept entirely makes for a complete sense of internal logic yet. Is this like a bad case of magic shingles or is her body being transmuted to crystal?

Ah! Yeah reading the character bios on the KS page you're definitely right on that. I know some people are put off by the "stained glass" appearance of the crystals but I think it's really cool personally.

Honestly if this gets less than $2m I'll eat my hat. Publicly.
The timing is pretty much on point, if anything they'll be taking in the Fuck Konami dollars hard.

I agree. It does not look as if there were actual shards of stained glass on her but rather something drawn-on.

Easy answer: The crystal is too opaque to see through.

I don't like that they're tying significant kickstarter backer rewards behind a $60 physical copy. They're apparently only asking for $500k for this, I don't have much faith that it full featured enough to justify $60.
