Holy shit, boom goes the dynamite. Little harsher than I expected, but there ya go.

You knew they couldn't do shit about the Super Bowl victory

There is no such thing as PROOF that is inconclusive. They either have it or they don't. And they don't. This is idiotic at best and a witch hunt in reality.

Balance of probabilities is the standard of proof required. Simply that something was more likely than not to have transpired. It's not a criminal investigation.

IT'S TIME.

There was basically proof. And this wasn't a court of law.

Mix in Brady refusing to cooperate and the Pats stonewalling and going so far as to demand an apology, and you get an angry NFL.

That STILL gave a weak ass punishment.

how is weak? in fact Imo the whole thing is too harsh and they should appeal like now. Do not allow this.

Jimmy Garoppolo (2nd round, 2014) is highest-drafted QB by Patriots under Bill Belichick (higher than Ryan Mallett, Matt Cassel, Tom Brady

But that is not proof and not even close to a good enough argument. The Pats should challenge this until all the punishments are dropped completely.

Did you just compare the systematic rape of children and the culture of looking away to some fans being salty their star QB was suspended for some under deflated balls?

Did you really just do that?

I'm pretty sure the severity of the crime or lack thereof doesn't change the underlying culture and mentality in sports which causes problems like this. Let's not pretend the NFL doesn't have it's share of murderers, domestic abusers, and drug addicts. The persecution complex of fans whose teams and idolized athletes get caught and punished is a huge part of the problem.

Did you read the report? They didn't have smoking gun, but it was proven that the balls were deflated intentionally.

Do you really think the ball boys were doing this on their own?

Tom is still the GOAT more or less. But rules are rules.

Hey, it's even worse. The pats got punished for something lesser then what the cowboys did with the ref. bribing officials is apparently not a big deal but deflated balls are the end of the world

That game even made Suh cry. Something I never expected to see. But he knew they were on the verge of winning, but the refs just couldn't let it happen. That's why he called it sickening.

I don't care how severe the offense is.

They were outright caught cheating in one of the biggest games of the season.

They were outright caught lying about it afterwards.

Tom Brady was even caught in a bold face lie about it.

So why are they getting what amounts to a slap on the wrist?

Put an * next to the win or take it away completely. Suspend Brady for an entire season and fine them heavily.

Send a clear message that cheating does not fly in the NFL, and if you're caught you will pay.

So Goddell is coming down in Rodgers too right? I mean, he did admit to it afterall

“‘I like to push the limit to how much air we can put in the football, even go over what they allow you to do and see if the officials take air out of it,'” Simms said Rodgers told them before the game.

No, that wasn't proven either. It is most likely that it was intentional, sure.

And from that assumption, you then assume that it must be someone higher up, because....?

"Teacher he did it tooooo!"

Get that shit outta here.

You really think ball boys getting paid 20k a year were orchestrating this thing?

It's a decent punishment. There's no witchhunt here.

The NFL let them cheat for half of the AFC Championship game.

What does that say about

A) The NFL and how it views integrity?
B) How serious the crime was?

If you think this is a slap on the wrist, then you already have your mind made up. 4 games, a first round and fourth round is a huge punishment.

Wait why? That is a legitimate question. Some of you guys look at this stuff in such a weird, twisted way. Rodgers should be investigated and potentially punished for those comments also. The NFL has set the bar with this type of cheating with these punishments, and now they should follow up any other teams where this may have occurred. It's just logical. Not following up on those comments just makes this look like a witch hunt for one specific team.

But that is not proof and not even close to a good enough argument. The Pats should challenge this until all the punishments are dropped completely.

It's the standard of proof in almost all civil cases in almost all jurisdictions across the world. They do not have prove anything beyond reasonable doubt, only that on the evidence, the occurrence of the event was more likely than not.

Even then I imagine the majority of the punishment is for failure to co-operate fully with the investigation.

As long as that four game suspension sticks and they don't let Brady appeal it to fewer games, that seems like an adequate punishment. They were never going to take away the title or put an asterisk in the record books, it would be too damaging to the NFL brand. But it's not like the rest of the country is ever going to let Brady and the Patriots forget that they see the title as tainted.

It's not like he didn't say it lmao.

I'm free to discuss it as its in the context of the story.

NFL cherry picks their fights and punishments as evident by the many examples in this thread already

It's obvious Brady deserved something, but to ignore other people that do it is funny
