Eh, just download in Galaxy.

It may be slow, but I am sure it will be done before the 7 days before it unlocks passes, so its a moot point.

For people wanting to play in another language than english: GOG support told me, that you can just download a language pack on launch on GOG Galaxy, so it's fine to use the english preload. Here's the mail (in germany obviously):

Hallo ***,

keine Sorge, Du kannst zum Release ein Sprachpaket herunterladen, inklusive der dt. Version. Du kannst also ruhig mit dem Laden beginnen. :-)

Viele Grüße,

Anyone knows when the preorder bonuses will be available for us steam users?
I want to listen to the OST or look at the art book.

Hm i thought that Soundtrack and Art book was GOG exclusive. And now i checked Steam page and they added them to Steam version too :D My guess is that those are included in pre-load and you can't get them until release date.

tried to download it several times with gog galaxy yesterday...after the first 21 gb that went smoothly i got a connection error and had to restart the whole download (since resuming the download doesn't seem to be a thing on this service)
after that, got several other errors at lower percentages...

now I'm just downloading the installer piece by piece on gog.com...I know it's a beta..but ATM gog galaxy is garbage

Listening to the OT,
King Bran's Final Voyage
is a wonderful track!

Game is preloaded on GoG. Now gimme them sweet new Nvidia drivers please.

Is it possible to set a time on Steam for it to download something? I want to download the Witcher between 2am and 8. Stupid peak times...

Sadly no, I don't know how the largest digital distributor doesn't have something like this.

However you can do a hacky alternative using Windows' Task Scheduler. Start the download (and make sure it's priority in download queue) then close Steam. Also make sure your Steam auto signs in.

Then open Task Scheduler, right click on "Task Scheduler Library" and create a new basic task, choose a name, time, etc, then by action choose start a program and select Steam.exe. It'll start Steam at the time you chose and the download will continue when it starts automatically (Steam automatically continues a download when you start it up).

It's hacky but works. I don't know if Task Scheduler comes with all versions of Windows 7 but it's here for me on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Not really but there is option to limit download for certain period so you maybe can use that. Settings/Download section.

Maybe you can download software that activates your internet connection at a certain time :/ seems like a weird thing to do though.

Cheers, thanks mate.

As i said he maybe can start download and limit speed to minimum between 8 and 2 and then from 2 to 8 Steam will use full speed.

Unfortunately in Australia some isp have peak and off peak times (it's fucking ridiculous)so I have 100gb peak and 100gb off peak.

So I'm reading on Reddit that no reviews of Xbox One and PC version will hit this week, only PS4. What kind of fuckery is this?

http://forums.cdprojektred.com/thre...-release-only-for-PS4-no-PC-or-Xbox-this-week

Can't go on the link since their forums are down right now.

We've known this for a while. Only PS4 versions of the game were sent out.

Not "fuckery" just how it was done.

You can expect the same experience albeit at 900p on XBO, and depending on your rig 4K with some enhanced fidelity, hair physics on PC.

The PS4 seems like the best option to give people the median Wild Hunt experience, as the majority of PC players will probably play at settings close to PS4, and the XBO version will also be close to PS4.

I don't leave my PC on as I am at work 12 hours of the day, so wouldn't make sense plus less than 0.5MB/s bugs me when I can get upwards of 8MB/s in reality.

Use the the + in the top left corner and manually add it

I didn't know this, will try when I get home.

Got 5+MB/s on the downloader, which is much better. Expect GoG Galaxy to be great when out of beta status.

I finally downloaded it with gog galaxy 7 more days to go.
Do anybody knows when the second part of the interactive comic is going to be available?

When a PC dev only sends PS4 copies for early reviews when none of the previous games came out on the playstation systems I call it fuckery :p
I need PC benchmarks, and reviews & impressions from PC gamers.

It's that type of double speak that people have been critical off. Yay for reviews hitting one week before the release, devs are transparent, but those reviews are only for 1/3 platforms you say? Oh nevermind... It slightly pisses me off. (if confirmed).

The only sent out review copies to people with debug PS4's.

Didn't a GAF user post that some people were getting PC codes that had the exes unlocked? Sending review copies for people with debug PS4 units is all fine and dandy if the game wasn't coming out on 2 other platforms.

Relax man. The game is going to be the same on all 3 platforms. Give or take some graphical fidelity.

The UI is the same, the combat is the same, the story, characters, environments, quests, etc is all the same in all 3 versions.

Like I said, the PS4 version is a good version to review as it is closest to the Wild Hunt experience that 90% of the people that play the game will have.

Console players and the vast majority of PC players will be playing the game at similar fidelity to the PS4, so reviewing that copy makes perfect sense.

I want benchmarks as well, but it really doesn't matter other that to satisfy my curiosity. The game is already downloaded to may hardrive, and my SLI 970's are going to perform the same as they will 7 days from now.

No reason to be up in arms over this. At all. PC only reviews will come.

I'm relaxed :)

I'm just saying I'm slightly miffed at hearing this and it makes absolutely zero sense but it is what it is.
Also many pc gamers want to know how the game plays with the keyboard/mouse something we haven't got at all, even on pc previews so far.

PC benchmarks are kind of pointless without the day 1 patch as things have been improved after the final build. You are going to have to wait in any case for any meaningful performance analysis to be done, unless all you want are pretty, albeit obsolete, graphs. Meanwhile, let them review other aspects of the game, which are identical across all platforms.

I guess for the entire rest of the gen we should only expect reviews on PS4 then and be happy with that?

It's silly. They're cutting off a decent chunk of the gaming press. Why not send a copy to PC Gamer or RPS? It's not like they have a marketing agreement in place like we've seen with a few other games (and even that's a skeevy reason to limit what gets reviewed) since their marketing is with Microsoft.

Most of the times we've seen refusal of PC copies it's been either because of gross deals like Shadow or Mordor or really shitty PC versions. Might not be the case here but it's also one that's remedied fairly easily.

There's an entire control scheme which has been barely talked about and even with all of the PC footage they make people play with a controller. It shouldn't be weird to want to know if the game controls well on KBAM ahead of release, especially for a game with such heavy PC ties. Like you reference, the UI is the same. But the UI was the same in the Witcher 2 and it sucked in the menus for controllers. Maybe it's good now, maybe now it sucks for mouse control.

So I still need to beat Witcher 2. I think I did the same thing with 1 when 2 was around the corner. Busted through the final parts, really liked it, and was ready for part 2.

Well that would mean we're not getting a Nvidia guide from Andy before release then? I realize a lot of games get a day 1 patch but it usually doesn't stop from getting early pc reviews.
If the PS4 was the last to get a review you would be hearing a lot of angry people, just like when there was no PS4 footage.

I'm not all up in arms about it though, my game is preloaded and ready to go.

If no reviews for pc or benchmarks are out before the game is out it basically means people who are on the fence will have to wait till the game is out to decide wether to buy this or not (which in itself isn't a big deal).
I'm aware CDPR said perfomance improved on all platforms but we pretty much have to take their word for it, and how would we be able to gauge that improvement? How does the game play & feel with mouse & keyboard? During the Youtubers event, they apparently hadn't got that down yet.
I'm just wondering why would they send only PS4 copies for early reviews, wasn't made aware they had a deal with Sony.

Considering only PS4 copies are going out for review it would not make much sense for PC only reviewers to get a copy.

I'm not even sure if we interpreted that correctly. All we know is that some outlets got only PS4 copies. We don't know if it's the case with ALL outlets, especially PC only outlets

I've never cared for review platform, to be honest. The only missing aspect is kb/m coverage in my opinion, as rushing out graphics benchmarks defeats the purpose. Again, let's wait and see if any PC reviews show up before launch. It's kind of premature to bring this up without knowing if the PC review sites got PS4 copies as well.

Nope. Talking specifically about the Wild Hunt in this thread, oddly enough.

Some games have large differences between PC and Console versions. Some are more relegated to IQ.

Wild Hunt from what we have seen looks and plays largely the same on PS4 and PC.

LoD and Draw distance are locked into assets, and are the same across platforms.

The lighting system seems to be the same across platforms as well.

If you are gaming at 1080p on PC, really the only large difference you can expect from the PS4 version is going to be AA/AF, Framerate, and Nvidia Hairworks/HBAO+.

Where as say GTAV, has more differences, like LoD, Draw Distance, Texture Resolution, Vegetation Density, etc.

Yes, I hope it's just an error in communication. Their forums are under maintenance so cannot check what was said there.

Viveks86 posted some configs files, I'm hoping for more stuff to be tweaked :p

so..after i download the installer from gog.com i need to install it or first i need to wait for the missing files that they will release on launch day?

You said it was a good reason because "Like I said, the PS4 version is a good version to review as it is closest to the Wild Hunt experience that 90% of the people that play the game will have."

Do you not think that applies to most games? Regardless of how many settings you can tweak, your original statement stands. Most people will play it on a PS4, Xbox (which will have slightly worse performance and/or graphics) or at not exactly cranked out settings if they're on a PC (because not everyone has monster rigs). So why bother? What's the point of ever sending out an Xbox one copy to review?

And amusingly enough, your example, GTA V, did not elect to send out PC review copies (and y'know, released a century later).

So I'm just quoting that poster on the Witcher forums, his facebook link seems dead so no way to verify this.
If your a PC or XboxOne owner/fan don't get your hopes high for reviews this weak on a platform of your choice (review embargo will be lifted tomorrow). There will only be reviews of the PS4 version this week. CDPR haven't even sent out review copies of the other platforms yet.

"So. Xbox One-Footage. Hat leider etwas gedauert - weil unser Team noch an der Grafik gearbeitet hat. Das ist übrigens auch der Grund, warum es diese Woche erstmal 'nur' Tests der PS4-Version geben wird. Wir wollten auf PC und Xbox One noch einiges optimieren und keine Versionen verschicken, die diese Verbesserungen noch nicht enthalten."
from official German Witcher Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DEthewitche...93855957409329

English translation:
"So. Xbox One footage. Sadly it took us some time - because our team still worked on the graphics. That's by the way also the reason why there will 'only' be reviews of the PS4 version this week so far. We still wanted to optimize some things on PC and Xbox One and we didn't want to send out versions which don't contain these improvements."
So obviously the PC and XboxOne versions aren't good enough to be reviewed - one week before release.

Whatever you might personally think about the situation it' pretty obvious that there won't be any PC ultra gameplay shown or reviewed this week. And of course no PC controls are shown or reviewed this week. No Xbox gameplay shown or reviewed this week neither.

Big surprise for everyone not playing on PS4 at release!

PC version good enough to be previewed by Youtubers weeks ago but now not good enough to be sent for reviews? Didn't Gamestar said the game was running smootly with Hairworks on a i7 4970K + GTX980?

No point questioning things that can't be verified. Patience, my friend. Let's get an official response if we get nothing in the next couple of days :)

This is actually my first $60 AAA purchase in a long time. The 19th can't come any faster. I just hope my PC is up to snuff to play this game.

I initially built the current PC I'm on now back in 2012 for the intent of running heavily modded Skyrim, I mean stuff like HD 2K resolution texture packs, ENB, landmass expansions, heavy FPS impacting stuff. I was currently using a 2007 build which had a Core 2 Duo e8400, with 4GB of DDR3, and a Nvidia GeForce 9800GT, I could run base Skyrim fine, but once I started with the texture mods, I was getting sub-30 framerates. It was time to upgrade.

I basically scrapped everything except the HDD and the DVD Burner.

This was at the time the price / performance ratio for GPU's somewhat was skewed towards AMD. Which is why I opted for HD7950 at the time. I wanted a 680 GTX however I couldn't just justify the $500. The also the HD7950 apparently was getting similar performance to the GTX 670 at the time, so it was a very appealing option.

In fact the HD7950 was $330 at the time, while the HD7970 was $450. I honestly did not see $120 worth of improvement, especially considering this article - http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/34761-amd-hd-7950-vs-hd-7970-clocks/

Ironically the same $330 I paid for my HD7950 is what I could pay for a 970 GTX today (sounds appealing, I should probably do this eventually, my CPU won't bottleneck either) Rest of my PC is a i5 3570k and 8GB DDR3 ram.

I'd say picking up a 970 GTX should be fine, no? I don't even think I would need to change my power supply, in fact I think the 970 GTX is more energy efficient over my HD7950 no?

The only thing I worry about is the 3.5GB memory thing with 3GB being full speed and the .5 being half.

Options? Suggestions? Good advice is welcome!

Eh, I suppose, although you're emphasizing more than I did.

I just don't see it as a big deal with this game when the versions are so close.

Staggered releases are a different topic all together. And what I was getting at with that comparison, is even at Ultra, the PC version will look more similar to the PS4 version that GTAV on Ultra looks in the same scenario. There is simply more to scale/toggle in certain games. GTA's ultra changes the overall look of the game drastically. Where as Ultra in Wild Hunt changes the fidelity more subtly, but the trees, grass, buildings, and composition of any given frame will look identical.

For instance, Limbo looks largely the same on PC and Console.

Yeah you're right. I don't even know why I'm checking it to be honest, won't change a damn thing.

Just going to get some beer and listen to this magnificent soundtrack once more.

And @OmegaDL50 I have SLI GTX970 and haven't run into problems cause of the ramgate. I play at 1080P though, just using DSR time to time for some games. I think it's a solid card.
