Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

Yeah, what I was thinking was the hammer that's shown can be thrust out like a spear and could have a follow up hammer swing or something to it. That'd be neat.

You could always ask if you could make a table that you can flip.

(ノ`Д´)ノ彡┻━┻

On second thought, maybe that's better as a sub-weapon.

You should totally create another Crissaegrim.

SotN's trademark weapon. :P Everyone grinded for it!

On my first 10 gameplays... sure.

After a while... it gets old. Too overpowered. I always use other interesting swords.

I've played through SotN multiple times and I've actually never obtained a Crissaegrim.
I was happy enough with my Fist of Tulkas last time around.

I did however grind for multiple Owls in order of Ecclesia, it was the right choice.

You know what was OP, the shield rod.

Yup, that too. Even more overpowered.

Two Rings of Varda on top of that... game was already easy... it burned SOTN for me a bit.

Prefer they approach on Ecclesia. Only in the end I had some problem in choosing which glyphs I would use. But I used almost every glyph in my complete gameplay.

Yeah if they they actually go all the way into Xrd style this would be really expensive, but if they just use shaders then it's possible.

Shaders, overall, would just make more sense to me.

I mean, unless this game is going to play up using a variety of camera angles, like XRD does, what's the need?

Once you get Nitesco, it's hard to use anything else than it or Ascerbatus though.

SotN wasn't difficult; but I don't think that was what most people were looking for. It was fun and had variety. The appeal was all the little secrets and details tucked away to discover. They went really deep with the stuff that was out of the way; even hiding 1/2 the gameplay behind a secret. I think making it super difficult would turn most of the SotN fans away.

The follow ups had shorter dev times. budgets and more focused direction which meant less obscure systems and less secrets.

2 years and $5m may mean lots of secrets. I'm looking forward to that.

I'd prefer them to already be planning it in the normal design and have it be a surprise when we get there.

I imagine they might try to do something unique about it. Almost all of Igarashi's Igavanias have tried to build up to a second half, but I think only Symphony made that second half kind of a secret to the player.

The only other game he worked on that had something similar was Harmony of Dissonance, as you traveled between a physical and spiritual dimension of the castle. That wasn't secret, though.

I disagree. I would love SoTN more if it was at least a bit difficult. I played other Castlevania titles before and they were all hard (but fair). They should have tried to emulate this in SOTN too, IMO.

SoTN isn't my favourite, after OoE, just because the bosses were actually chalenging in the latter (specially in the level cap mode, which I loved).

Anyway, the other aspects of SoTN made up for it. I agree: this game needs lots of secrets. I love this aspect of every Castlevania.

The potential audience for difficult games is smaller than for average games. Having a self imposed difficulty mode would be nice. Like no leveling mode; you go through the whole thing lvl 1. Or default item only mode. I don't mind hard games; but I'm not into difficulty for the sake of difficulty. A lot of indie platforms that require frame accurate response are too much for my middle aged reflexes but I'll still mash a souls game.

Yo shouta, what do you think about making a thread so you and I can farm GAF for some weapon ideas for our pledges? If you think a separate thread isn't necessary people can post here too.

I want to have something that affects the player movement. Maybe something like the doll from Dawn of Sorrow or bug thing from Axiom Verge that also attacks when it teleports you?

You know what else was a grind? Using the Sword Familiar as a weapon. After getting it to level 50, it can be equipped as a weapon. That was a grindfest and a half but it felt good and the weapon reeked of badassery lol.

If anything, I'd ask Shouta not to make it a NeoGAF in-joke. Those are generally cringe inducing because they're so completely out of place with where they're included.

I just hope the screening process is good for it. From what Shouta has said he's actually going to try to make a good weapon, but who knows about the other people. I know one of them is just trying to get the weapon from his game into this game.

I don't really agree, the lack of information about the stretch goals is just too severe compared to projects I'd consider top-end in terms of management (e.g. Shadowrun: Hong Kong).

Yeah. I like how it (the kickstarter) was all set up, but how it is being maintained isn't the greatest.

If there's gonna be a gaf weapon in the game it's clearly gonna be some form of "The Bishop's Hammer"

Would be cool if Shouta's weapon was dropped by a Graveyard Duck(roll). Better than a Silk Bag for sure. ;)

A kickstarter for to insert an enemy design into the original kickstarter? Wow...

Now see, I could get behind that. A weapon that is dropped by an enemy that most people won't get the reference to. A nice subtle in-joke.

Honestly, if I was going to make a weapon: I'd look at Furry Dust: An furry Elsyian Tail Tale and go with a "Devil May Cry" style combat system for the weapon. Being able to juggle enemies would be cool, but I don't think it'd fit IGA's trademark "slash slash slash dead" style.

The time I spent with SotN getting all the achievements on 360 was not enough to understand all the hidden and cool weapons the game had, I never experimented enough to find cool combos or magic moves, it was a real shame.

But when I think back to sotn it's that one game which keeps on giving and I love it for being that, everyone has their own unique experiances with it.

No, thank you.

I'm thinking about doing the $125 tier but can anybody tell me if I can select two platforms? I'd like to get a physical copy for PS4 and digital on Steam if possible. Also, does anyone know if the digital copy is the backer edition or a standard digital copy?
