Witcher 3 downgrade arguments in here and nowhere else

Well, 60 FPS, higher resolutions, better IQ, hairworks, HBAO+.. all of these things make the PC version decidedly superior to the PS4 (but no surprise there when a GTX 750ti is mopping the floor with it).

I guess some people wanted more.

I'm sure nobody here is that intrested in which pc components are mopping the floor with what consoles. Keep your superiority talk in other threads. :/

Of course it isn't, it had to look like the console version, console with netbook CPUs

Ill say whatever the hell i want to say. If that makes you feel inferior or defensive, get over it man And grow up. These are pieces of plastic your getting upset over.

It doesn't. But it sure does seem to buff your virtual cock. But feel free to give me a lesson about gfx cards cleaning different parts of your apartment and how that information relates to the subject of this thread.

Thing is... they should have gotten more if their machine are that much more powerful than a console. Aside from the 60 fps and maybe hairworks there is really little to talk about in terms of differences. Sure there are more like you say, but if we want to be honest not a lot of people will notice such differences...

My point being do 60 fps and hairworks (which will probably negate the 60 fps anyway) are enough to justify the big gap in PC/console performance? I doubt it. IMHO I believe a lot of PC potential seems left unrealized.

I don't understand why game devs feel so insecure as to still bullshot everything. I've stopped caring about graphics a long time ago except on a general level of does it look good, and I'd imagine that goes for most people.

Then at the same time gameplay systems are driving sales like crazy (eg. Souls series), and those get next to no attention in marketing.

Because contrary to you, first thing that wins most people's attention about a new title are the graphics. Impressive graphics will always be the most important marketing aspect of a newly announced title/presentation.

I agree with your point of view, but at the same time I understand why gfx are so important when showing off/presenting your new product.

Bullshots, "in engine render" , "target render" and all similar terms is just the effed up part of this situation... unfortunately.

PC footage is getting out there, so I did some comparison shots between PS4 (top) and PC (bottom).

PC was said to be running on Ultra from a 970. Framerate obviously better on PC, but I'm really not sure how this disparity is possible...

An open world game with three versions that could differ in distance LODS, vegetation density, npc density, anisotropic filtering, HBAO, lighting shafts, hair physics, water tessellation and framerate.... But the dude that can do a comparison, uses a close up shot of a cinematic inside a dark room. Amazing.

And this is the problem really with the pretty much all Multiplatform games. The PC/console performance difference is Astronomically HUGE, yet the graphical difference is pretty much only higher res, more detailed textures / AA / AF / HBAO / tesselation etc.

The graphical difference is not even close to the performance difference. MODS like Skyrim sort of make up for it but still. It's few and far between.

It's a shame really.

Play games at 4k and tell me there is no difference.

Have you never seen a DF thread where the i3 and 750ti get better or comparable results to a ps4, A LOT of people are interested.

That's what the sentence sounds like. I mean do people expect the PC version to just be a different game? Practically no dev could afford to build a separate effects/assets for a single platform. But one of the best things about PC is that modders can do that instead.

Yes that's true on both.

Well the game isn't out, so the only shots that will be able to be matched exactly are cinematics.

True. I might be getting the PS4 version due to lack of a powerful PC, but I can definitely relate with people who see their rigs seemingly, not being realized to their full potential.

The good thing is that mods maybe one day can make the game look like the early 2013 trailer. That would be glorious actually.

Count me as interested too.

i3/750Ti is below the official minimum spec, but I bet DF will make a good go at it for some interesting results.

I never said there was no difference, I said the difference should be a lot bigger considering the hardware power gap.

The difference will only ever be as big as the developers want it to be. Some devs go the extra mile, others don't.

I counted CDPR as the former, and I still do, but they're slipping into the latter. I hope that trend gets reversed for their next game, specially since by the time it releases, a mid range PC will be several times more powerful than a console, and DX overhead will be mostly a thing of the past.

I really hope they surprise us with an enhanced edition. Personally I expect for my 70$+ taxes CAN that the developer polish his game for each different version he chooses to support. It feels really lame to be denied what could have been for a game version I'll never play/not interested.

The more gameplay I see the more I realise that the game isnt gonna look much better then Dragon age inquisiton i certainly dont think it looks worse but to be honest I was expecting it to look like a pretty good step up considering its current gen only.

It might be the fact that it's Friday, or it might be down to me being tired. But that is one long-ass sentence that starts bad, trails off in the middle and ends nowhere.

Sorry.

As long as it doesn't have those exhausting fetch quests, I'm all happy. Lol

Playing Dragon Age right now and very much disagree. This looks a good deal better. DA looks nice the environments have pretty simple geometry which just isn't anywhere near as convincing as what they are showing in the Witcher.

As much as I don't care for this downgrade nonsense, the game only using CPU-based physx really peeves me off. I kept my old GPU when I upgraded to dedicate it to physx for The Witcher 3, because I knew it would use physx for everything. But it turns out it's not going to use that, and I'm never going to find a good use for this spare GPU. And since my CPU is 3 years old and can't be overclocked because of my motherfucking motherboard, I'm probably not going to be able to use any fancy physx stuff. God damn it.

My memory might fool me but this game looks hardly better than W2 but with an open world.

Yeah no.

This looks like a generational leap over TW2. Which, aside from fantastic art direction, wasn't amazing on a technical level. (DX9, Lip Syncing, Shadow Dithering, Shaders, Small Linear World, dated lighting, etc etc)

The game looks beautiful... But yeah, I think grass should cast shadows like in GTA V's Ultra settings. But that would cripple single card setups very likely.

These shots are gorgeous, but I agree on the grass. Still doesn't look like HBAO is enabled--looks more like SSAO.

My bad if this has already been posted but I didn't find it at first sight.

Been posted multiple times already and it's a useless comparison. High end dev PC downsampled and sharpened shot vs compressed PS4 shot. There's no point to it. It's so pointless that I'm not even including it in your quoted post.

They are all old screenshots released in the last month. Having said that, I agree with you :)

It must be noted that none of those shots have all features maxed/turned on

wow, that is considerable. Didn't think it was that bad.

They are not even the same platform. But we've been over it too many times for me to bother. Just thought I'll give you a heads up since the GIF has ignored context altogether.

Again with sites not cranking all the settings up.

You would think this would be simple... but no site seems to want to actvate all uber settings+gameworks and take some footage/screens.

I don't understand.

(Hairworks and likely HBAO+ look to be disabled here)

Those are screenshots released by CDPR 2 weeks ago I believe. And yeah they don't have all the things enabled.
