Witcher 3 downgrade arguments in here and nowhere else

No, I don't take side, but I don't appreciate delusional fanboys ruin the thread with their mindless personal agenda. In case you wonder, I will be getting PC version as with most multiples, but I always keep a console copy for observing and learning propose.

Sorry, nothing you and he said are anywhere close to the truth, please check steam hardware survey again in case you need a reality check, that's the grand scope of PC gaming, whether you like or not. of course he was "spot on" because you and him are in mutal interest except there's no logic and facts behind your statement. Give up and get back to the topic

I have all the consoles. I could care less what this plays best or looks better on. I also have a PC. That said, you act as if people with 8800's in their systems are the target audience. So the "point" your trying to make doesn't make any damn sense. You just come across as an asshole more than anything because your argument has no water and you are standing firm behind it while also being condescending and wrong to boot.

The game is confirmed 1080 on PS4, yes?

Its a little disappointing (or really a lot) that CDPR pulled this move. I get the business side of it, I really do, and I couldn't even run the higher settings if they existed; but the total parity outside of a few minor differences is disheartening. We know they didn't push the envelope.

Understandable, but sad.
Yeah, 1080p on PS4

observing and learning? What?

I have a question.

Has anyone in here actually cancelled their pre-order after seeing the downgrade?

Nope, I'm simply interested in the story and the gameplay and the game still looks good but oh boy don't get me started on CDPR PR...
It's funny seeing the floodgates open about Ultra settings after they said they wanted to give us a slap in the face once we popped the game for the first time. Unless they have some magical patch come release.

I was at Micromania today (equivalent of Gamestop in France) and they had the game on PS4, It was in the area with the big Vista (Caer Mohren?) and Yennefer in the room. The game seemed to look better in cutscenes (while you talk to Yennefer) than regular gameplay to me.
Framerate felt lower than 30 and motion blur while panning the camera was pretty bad.

Absolutely not. It's a little disappointing that the PC version doesn't have the insane visuals we want, but it will still be a very good game. I think it would be really foolish to not play over that. This isn't watch dogs.

Hey look, we have another one of those people who is obsessed with casual gamers and their experiences and using them as an argument against enthusiasts on an enthusiast forum.

It's always funny. As if I care at all what the average person on the street thinks, I know what experience I'm getting and I chose it for a reason.

I did, on Steam. Although that might have been for russian deals too :P But nope. Going to wait this one out just a little bit. No way they can keep that £50 price tag for long on steam after it comes out, even if they can, I'm alright for now.

Nah, I got it for cheap from GoG and I can play it at 1440p/60 on ultra. The downgrade is disappointing but not much we can do about it since they wanted to include consoles this time.

Let's hope they release the modding tools fast so people can try and give us some nice upgrades :)

observing and learning? What?

As a QA engineer for 3D visualization projects, it's always interesting to see what kind customized rendering solution developers deployed on console multiplats and how they compare to the original solution on PC. or to observe some interesting new technology existed only in console exclusives. another reason is most of my friends and co-workers play on ps4/x1.

Please keep them coming, post more irreverent pics/gifs to cover up your incompetence and inability to read a simple survey.

This is not about downgrade, but one thing I wish for as a profound texture maniac is ground textures that are a little more like the ones in DA:I. I really like many of it's ground textures because they look like they have some additional geometry going on.

It's probably totally economically infeasible to make a game looks drastically better on just one platform. That's also probably why almost every single current gen game only looks marginally better on PC than they does on consoles.

Honestly, I don't know what people expect. Aside from resolution and framerate there are almost never any big differences between platforms. Slighty longer draw distances here, higher resolution shadow there. Small, but noticable differences that may or may not matter to you.

Here are a couple of things that we know are better on PC already, either from the video or by other means:
Higher maximum framerate
Better texture filtering
Higher grass density
Better AO
Nvidia stuff

Nothing spectacular, but it's all in line with pretty much every other current gen multiplatform release.

Not sure if this has been posted or not, but it looks like CDPR had the PS4/PC comparison taken down:

There will be visible differences between console and PC (we always said so), stuff like:
- draw distance
- framerate
- resolution
-exclusive features such as hairworks

Uhm, yeah, apart from framerate and resolution (which is obvious) they were all visible in the video.

No shit. Exactly why I wanted to go into a cave. It was the reason I've been feeling mind fucked since yesterday. I put up a couple of GIFs multiple times here, and very few really responded. Very few people even bothered to ask what the build marked as "???" was. The PC build doing the rounds out there is fucked up.

Many devs managed it last gen just fine. From bf to batman.

I don't know what your problem is, but apparently adding percentages up seems to be one of those problems. According to the steam survey aprox 22% of pc gamers have a gpu as good as or better than an xbone. thats dozens of millions of people. Even if you only count active steam users (and that would be wrong) thats more people than sony has sold ps4s.

Maybe, it's the cynic in me, but I don't expect the final PC version to look much better then the one in that comparison video, maybe that's just me though.

I dont either. Sad. Oh well i mean fuck ill take hairworks and 60 fps at 1440p over consoles any da6 of the week. More importantly the game itself seems like its amazing. Im not really looking forward to it any less. Its just sad that it isnt all it could be.

We saw that in the comparison and it was not impressive.

It also said in that same post that the PC version used in that comparison was an early build.

Woof, that's some pretty crazy damage control at the last second. I have no idea what's going on anymore.

Game still looks great though, and the gameplay seems to be what they promised.

I do feel for you PC guys. I'm happy that the PS4 version came out a lot better than I expected but PC definitely took a big hit. At least you get better performance as a consolation.

It's fascinating how tables have turned in a couple of weeks. Everyone was going bonkers about the console versions. Now the console versions are pretty as hell, while PC version...

So do we know how big will be that day one patch?

Also viveks, you're killing me with your gifs. It's 0:34AM here and laughing hard.

... I would hope so considering the money you've invested in that PC of yours. Was it 2 or 3x the price of a PS4?

I think this Gamestar video is from a very recent build, at least thats what they had on a Wicther 3 event in munich today or yesterday, and its look exactly the same as the PC footage from the comparison.
Either CDPR provided the press with an old build and are now surprised that footage of an old build is getting out there, or they are just trying to avoid the bad reactions from the PC community the comparison video created(that would backfire pretty soon though)

Taking down a video that makes the best version of the game look worse by using non-final builds? I mean, assuming they aren't lying, that makes perfect sense.

If that is true, their conduct of removing and then not showing these differences... is more than circumspect. Seriously, people are at their throat about the PC version being truncated... and they remove a video about it on yt... and do not show how much better the PC version is.

This is just bad form on so many levels.

Hmmm so this gif is legit now?

VHS Red Projekt please.

The PC "Ultra" (LOL) version is identical to what PCGH showed today. The hairworks hair seems all messed up in the bath tub scene. Yen is wearing underwear but no bra. AO is a bit wonky. Lighting is almost last gen levels of flat.

And then there is another video released yesterday, marked in "???" that looks slightly better than the PS4 version (better soft lighting), has xbox controller prompts, is drastically better than the PC "Ultra" version AND Yen is completely naked

My mind is full of Whaddafuckkk
