I'd like to know if the indoor lighting might be better too.
This is one area where they have always maintained that would suffer from seamless integration into the world.

They had that shitty pine leaf bush all the way at the beginning of development. Crazy that nobody in that time took a stab at improving it.

Tru. No loading screens for these stunners. So how did Ubi pull it off with Unity? Some of the best indoor lighting I've seen.
Yeah that was probably nothing more than pre-rendered, in-engine sure, but pre-rendered for sure![]()
LMAO. Monday is going to be so much fun!

What does one have to do to get those soft nice colours?
Monday for US? Cause my timer on GoG says we still have 29h30mn to go.
This isn't a boycott for me and I wouldn't cancel my pre-order over graphics. There's a one in a million chance I won't like this game. How about we at least wait until the PC version is in people's hands before we start freaking out?
Don't buy the game until you are sure about it.
US time, yes. I'm in California![]()
TBH, since that is the lod 0 of that bush. It looks alright.. it is the later LODs that are terrible.
Performance-Verlust durch die verbesserte Optik ist grob geschätzt rund 10 -15 %. Wobei sich das von Karte zu Karte natürlich recht heftig unterscheiden kann.

Lol disgusting.
Edit - It's just hilarious how important you guys think you are in this thread. "PR damage control" "so much outrage." Lol.
This is what the Witcher 3 first looked like
I have to re-post that gif again because of that kid:

THAT 180 NOSCOPE. Luckily for Geralt that kid didn't switch to it's Intervention fast enough

Slightly better lighting, particle effects and better foliage is all I think that's needed to get the game close to this gif. And I'm no games developer but I would think these 3 things aren't exactly hard to add into the game. It's not like you need hundreds of man hours to create new textures for everything.

They probably had a separate team for the indoor areas. People forget just how huge the AC teams are, and it still came out broken. I mean when even GTA V is stingy with its indoor areas, you know that it's tough to get it all together in a seamless package.
The game has purely baked indirect lighting (it is why the game is so huge actually on disc).
It would not necessarily work for TW3 given its more dynamic TOD conditions.

Hehe ok.
I thought hearing someone on the forums they were releasing a day earlier for digital copies but actually have to wait till the 19th at 1AM here :/
Praise be! I'll crank that shit up and lock it at 30 if need be. If not I'll just drop down to High for a 60.
30GB of baked lighting.
I mean if you want to be the guy carrying the water for blatant false advertisement you go right ahead and wear that badge with pride.
ACU has Global Illumination.
Worth it.

Where the downgrade thread is 30 pages longer than the review thread.
Yeah, I don't think this is unattainable thanks to the fact that a). CDPR are very open with modding support, and b). open world game will hopefully mean more people interested in modding, a more thriving scene all round, and better quality mods because of it.
False advertising is a ludicrous stretch at the very best. It feels like the onus should more be on you as a videogame fan - someone at least tangentially familiar with the process of how games are made - to recognize that games take a long time to make and have to go through numerous revisions in reaction to an untold number of both outside and internal factors to come to market.
This has been the case since forever, and it's extremely easy to understand why that is the case if you just sit down and think for a moment about the actual process of turning chunks of code into a globally successful product. The final iteration of the Withcher 3 that I have been observing with my own eyes this past week looks utterly amazing, completely within the scope (and often surpassing) what I saw of media from years ago for the game.
Thinking about the normal process of videogame creation as some kind of scandal just seems completely naive and ignorant to me.
Given the size of TW3's world, it would be like... 90-120 gigs and would restrict a number of gameplay conditions. I am not sure if it is worth it
ACU has static and baked Global illumination, but it looks great.
Fantastic lighting is about all the game had going for it
A stretch?
They labelled VGX footage as in-game.
They told people the PC version wouldn't be compromised by what the consoles couldn't do.
They told people there was no downgrade.
The downgrade is fucking massive and their lies are damning.
Worth it.

Massively sensitive fans would defend anything though, so posts like yours aren't surprising, they just have to be dealt with to prevent the bullshit from further spreading.
Worth it![]()
Yes, it doesn't matter the tech (the guts of the engine) as long it is good to the naked eye.
I don't think the lighting before (in that gif for example) looks much better (if at all). I think the differences mostly come from the vegetation density/quality and the object detail. The scene just looks fuller. It has more detailed models. The smoke has also been downgraded. It used to look volumetric, now it just looks like basic thin smoke.
