Also, you can't buy any gear until level 4 and weapons at level 2, so you need an internet connection to get the cash for the shops.
You can actually get money from the amiibo challenges, if you get one.

A Japanese streamer already has over 15K.

Come on Japan, don't disappoint. Buy the shit out of this game.

Lot's of Japanese people were playing the demo on saturday. Even in one match I was the only western guy playing on that match! That could probably mean nothing but at least there's some noise about Splatoon in Japan.

According someone's sales data, Splatoon was the number 1 preordered game for last week in Japan.

The buzz is there.

there ya go

I must admit the digital version is tempting: the game size is small and it's the kind of game you launch daily for a few matches.

For previous digital + physical game releases on Wii U, was there any advantage going digital in regards to load times ?

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Mario Kart 8 have faster loading times when using the digital version, whether it's located in the internal memory / external SSD / external HDD.

However, just like with Mario Kart 8, when playing online you'll have to wait for all the other players to be ready, so it's effectively pointless in Splatoon.

MH3U gave an advantage online because it loaded areas faster, allowing you to travel through the map quicker than disc users.

I really wish I could get a physical copy at midnight at launch. I have that day off but rather just get out of bed, shower, and then play the game vs having to go all way to the store and back to pick up my copy. Even then I'd have to wait until 10am for stores to open. Sure I can get the digital version but I kinda want a physical copy to look at it on the shelf.

I guess I could try a a 24 hour walmart but there no certainty they'll have the game either in stock or out for sale at that point.

if they don't have it out for sale just make them go get the new releases for the day. there's usually a box of stuff with the for-sale date on it that they'll have to open. wal mart is always my go-to if I need something at midnight. sometimes the person working there isn't the smartest, though, so just explain to them what's up.

They change the clothes and items daily, that's why it requires an internet connection

Animal Crossing does that without requiring an internet connection.

I think it makes sense that Nintendo presumes that you have an active internet connection if you buy a game like Splatoon, but I hope they don't take it further than this.

Do any of the reviewers/streamers know a good way to capture both the TV and gamepad at the same time? Looking online shows some weird installation things on bootleg websites. Wanna stream Splatoon, but I feel having a camera pointed at my hands is a bit tacky.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone capture video from a gamepad. Honestly, I don't think it's worth the hassle just to show people the map.

The last time I checked, the device you need to capture footage from the gamepad is STUPID expensive. So much so that even most professional outlets just use a well aimed camera, usually a gopro on a small tripod.

That being said, actually capturing the map data is probably counterproductive for an interesting stream. You should be fine with regular HD streaming.

Nintendomination does, but they're german, so I think I might not have the same resources as they do.

Yea, there are some ridiculous websites asking for a shit ton. I hit up Nintendo, but who knows.

I just think Splatoon is the one game that really needs both screens.

I've watched plenty of Splatoon streams and I've never really missed the map. The team icons at the top of the screen actually show which team is in the lead which is enough to get a feel of how the match is going.

There might be some menu stuff in the full game though. I don't know, I've avoided most single player streams thus far.

Might end up giving that a try. Thanks.

Gentlemen.
I too am quite interested in an inking.
Also, holy hell is this day 1. I can't believe how day 1 it is based on the testfires alone.
See all yall online.

This, plus, if this game were to ever get "competitive" seeing the main goal, the territory, should be focused on and shown. Otherwise people think its just another shootbang, which some streamers still think it is.

Hell, if the testfire's were any indication, most PLAYERS think that way.

Splatoon tumblr updates

Here’s some graffiti we discovered on a wall in Inkopolis Plaza. From what we can discern, this is actually an image posted in something called Miiverse. If you drop a handwritten note in the mailbox outside of Inkopolis Tower, your note just might show up in someone else’s plaza. Better brush up on those art skills!

Another mystery image has arrived, and this one is just as—
Oh, wait! I’VE GOT IT! There are four squids, so the number is 4! Or…wait. Maybe not.
Whatever the case, somebody must be really motivated to send us this image on a holiday.

Pressing the ZR Button while in the plaza will zoom the camera in. Try zooming in on a piece of Miiverse “graffiti” and you’ll be able to give that post a “Yeah!” Be a good squidizen and give a “Yeah!” to images you like. Also, we’re told the zoom-in camera may also have another use…

We received another image. They just keep coming!

You amazing artists are on a roll! Get it? Because there’s a big Splat Roller!
But seriously, check out all the amazing Splatoon artwork people have dreamed up. If the contest slipped your mind, don’t worry – just hurry! May 29 is the last day to post it to Tumblr with hashtags #Splatoon, #GetInked and #NintendoContestEntry. And then the prizes shall flow like saltwater.

After a while, I think most will understand that they are doing something wrong when they don't get enough points to level up to Ranked Battles.

Thanks Moon!

I'm surprised you can still see well enough to type through all that ink :P

Tilmen has GamePad capture. It's the only reason to occasionally watch some of this videos^^

It's an expensive custom mod, though, iirc.

Can't wait for lot's of "The Call of Duty of Nintendo" mentions on reviews tomorrow.

Oh for fucks sake you're right. This will totally happen. Along with the stupid "well Nintendo never does new IP so this it's exciting because it's the first new one in 80 years! woo!" ...sigh

What question is that?

Do walls count?

They don't, and haven't since last E3. But the dude instead said that people will eventually figure out what can be covered. He's either like my brother and just hates giving away common knowledge for easy wins, or just showing why he works at IGN.

How much space will this game need digital, I've been thinking about buying this one digital instead but I am not sure if I have enough space
