Batman: Arkham Knight Gameplay Video – Time To Go To War

Wait thats ps4 footage?? Looking good! Cant imagine what it will look like maxed out on pc

My same thoughts exactly. Actually, i can't wait to see the game running at native resolution on my tv. These videos get all compressed, and you don't get the pristine quality. Unless we can download it.

The voice acting in this game is like a parody.

Looks all right, same ol' arkham batman, but with tanks.

Yep, VA is my least favorite thing right now. I ADORE Conroy, but wouldn't have mind if they went with someone else.
Also, please tell me Paul Dini didnt have a hand in the story for this. Arkham City was wretched in that regard.

Getting caught is always part of the plan for supervillains.

It's true. She goes along quietly so that Batman suspects nothing. Little does she know that Batman knows that she is trying to fake him out, so he plans for her trap before hand!

MAHND GAMES!

I like a Batman that will break a lowly thug's hand just for kicks, but a super villain that can control plants with her mind and just tried to kill him is given a harsh command in a stern voice.

I mean, she could probably heal herself with super plant powers, so I don't know why they just don't have Batman break her fucking neck and dump her in a plastic jail cell.

You are aware that she was looking through the window when Bruce dropped in and beat the shit out of like 30 guys, right?

You are aware that she just controlled some super vines to kill him right after that, right?

Also, from the Poison Ivy wiki: "Master of hand to hand combat".

That could be cool.

Which did absolutely nothing to stop him.

I wish her good luck in that fight.

Anyway, he hauled in the Joker by his arm like that in the intro of Arkham Asylum, then handed him off to someone who continued to use that same method. You are way over analyzing this.

Pretty interested to see what the exact limits of the Batmobile are. Apparently you can drive through almost all kinds of shit and control it like a human character; that part where you see the shooting lines was pretty neat.

EDIT: Oh, why are people even questioning if it is PS4? It says it right at the beginning of the GamerSyde version.

I may have missed it, but since button prompts don't mean anything (see: Witcher 3 trailers and last year's AK demo), has anyone tweeted the devs to get confirmation that this is PS4 footage?

Also, from the Poison Ivy wiki: "Master of hand to hand combat".

Shes never portrayed as such in the Arkhamverse though. She has always used her plants to fight.

Also, shes tried to kill Batman when she was much more powerful all doped up on Titan and failed...so is she really trying to kill him in this clip? Or is it more of a playful attack that she knows hes going to get out of. Shes knows that she doesn't pose a real threat to him, so she resigns herself to being caught....or maybe she really is trying to get taken in to the GCPD (as cliche as that would be).

Besides, this is all speculation anyway. Are you really ready to drop the sexism banner on this game after a 2 minute clip with almost no context and has almost certainly had segments completely edited out?

EDIT: BTW, every time they release these trailers I get super hyped up all over again. Not sure where Im gonna be in Witcher 3, but come June 23rd its going on the backburner!

Has Ivy ever lifted a hand to fight in ANY medium? I swear I've never seen her throw a punch.

bonus: hiliarious panel of Batman kicking her in the face.

But why? Why would she?

Why not? She had nowhere to run, she had no henchman, she was caught. Poison ivy is not historically a brawler, she uses pheromoned guards and a poison kiss as her primary weapons. Neither were an option there. She could've put up a fight, and then Batman would've knocked her the fuck out and put her in the Batmobile anyway.

Sure didn't. He was cuffed.

Are you honestly saying you've never seen the hilarious UPPER ARM GRAB OF WOMAN DISABLING trope in fucking anything and everything?

I'm just having a laugh that they did it here too.

Game will probably be fun though.

Looks interesting and the graphics are nice. That hand-to-hand combat looks terrible though; hope it was on easy or something. Bat voice is also pretty ropey but they did well with Poison Ivy.

Have you not played an Arkham game before?

Not really, no.

So that is on a harder difficulty already (there is no indicator for if an enemy is going to strike), not too mention that the person playing is pretty skilled. You are having to pull off multiple button combinations to be doing certain things in that vid, not just mashing Square.

Batmobile gameplay looks really lame.

Yep. All of the footage I've seen has me thinking it would be kind of cool if it had some more advanced features, like if it had a remote 'intimidate' setting where you could use it to distract groups of enemies, etc. but it's probably just going to be a glorified turret.

It looks like it would be quicker to just fly through the city as well..

But all the goons were just standing around and attacking slowly one-at-a-time. Do the enemies get more aggressive?

Of course they get more aggressive as the game progresses. They introduce new enemy types throughout.

Yes and no. The AI for enemies work in concert so that generally guys wait their turn, but when they don't wait they're turn, and they attack two or three at a time, it's no harder to deal with - just a matter of hitting the counter button once per attacker. Some enemy types ARE more aggressive - they won't care that you're currently in a counter animation and will attack you anyways. Basically, various attack animations have various degrees of vulnerability. The combat is primarily built around giving you the opportunity to look cool while facing a variety of threats. There is still a decent degree of challenge, particularly in this video where the counter indicators are turned off, but the challenge of full-comboing an enemy crowd isn't ever going to be as demanding as some of the things you'll find in more rigorously difficult character action or ARPG games.

Ugh, I want this game badly but I don't want to pay 100$ to have everything...

Getting on the GOTY edition hype train? :P

It's supposed to be a homage to the way women were treated in the past. Batman was created back in the 1940s remember? Obviously by modern day standards something like that would seem patronizing and plain sexist, but in this context its historic genius. Rocksteady sure did their homework!
"Beat up female villains even though they come willingly"

Just taking notes to avoid sexism in the future

I couldve sworn that Rocksteady said the street level goons arent really meant to pose a threat to Batman, just like in the comics, but the challenge comes from getting hire scores and perfecting combat encounters.

Also, later in the arkham games you always come across other enemy types that you cant just wail on. There is a certain method you have to use to take them down which makes things more difficult when you're fighting groups of enemies.

Man, the animation he has right after he grapples off the building and launches into the glide before breaking into the building Poison Ivy is in is so fucking cool.

If it's anything like the Abromivici twins in City, the certain method to defeat the more difficult encounters will be
wailing on them more.

Looks awesome, and it should look way better on my GTX 980, can't wait for it, thankfully i still have The Witcher 3 to finish and Life Is Strange Ep3, this year the GOTY battle will be so hard, The Witcher 3 is mine so far, but Batman, Halo 5, Tomb Raider, and especially MGSV won't let it win easily

"Hey commissioner, I was there when batman brought poison ivy in. Strange thing is he brought up some sort of holographic communication display on his wrist and the person he was talking to was your daughter Barbara, sir. I saw her clear as day sir."

lol

Looking forward to it, pre-ordered both the pc version and the PS4 SKU release.

And as for the voice acting there are worse efforts out there - see the Point Break reboot trailer :P

Haha I was thinking this too. Anyone can see who she is exactly unless it's pixelated for everyone except those who dawn the batman cowl.

The tank bullet dodging mini-game thing. So good. So cool. I'm sold.
Sarcasm?
It's the main reason I'm happy to dodge all the pre-order/season pass DLC baloney and will maybe give it a whirl at a sale price when the complete edition is out. I really don't think the BatTank is going to bring anything positive to the game at all, now that I've seen that they intend to use it mainly for shooting galleries.
Who came up with that for a Batman game? Seriously.
