I imagine there's some kind of individual identification for each copy like any else mass produced.
These'll probably hard to sell for the thieves. Or am i wrong?
Youre wrong.

Clearly Nintendo is the real victim here.
To be fair, all the criticisms are legit. Like, if Amiibo weren't limited there'd be much less of a black market and as a result there'd be less incentive to knock off an entire lorry of the things.
Don't be silly now. Nintendo isn't the victim like GAME is and the gamers are, but that doesn't mean they are the first to blame.
And if women didn't dress in ways that men find sexy, they wouldn't have to worry about being harassed. Just make things less desirable and you don't have any problems, right? You can't blame people for acting shitty if given the chance, right?
Blame can clearly go to scalpers first and the people who have justified the scalping by paying the exorbitantly high prices (which has created the grey market to be as lucrative as it is for practically any limited Nintendo item now) instead of waiting and then you can blame Nintendo for not finding some solution for their limited ability to deliver goods through retail outlets that already don't care to stock much Nintendo merchandise nor cares to prepare itself for the white hot demand Nintendo items have (especially on the easily exploitable online sector).
Nintendo actually has done a fair job at giving amiibo value without being required for the main game, while also allowing for the potential future value of a single figure of a franchise. It's a tough enough balancing act as it is, but you throw in the clusterfuck that is retail into the mix, and suddenly it's become a losing proposition as far as pleasing a portion of their userbase. Even if they are able to distribute cards that do the same thing, people aren't going to be as willing to pay the same price for a figure, to get the same content without the figure.
Nintendo has tapped a value for their figures that is right in the overlap of game fanaticism, with collecting fanaticism, that can appeal to both casual players of all ages to hardcore players of all ages, and all of those elements create a perfect storm that makes demand high but unpredictable. If they attempted to "meet demand" for say, Marth and Fire Emblem figures, the market could bottom out and suddenly Nintendo and tons of retail partners (as well as the scalpers buying these things in droves with hopes of reselling them) get stuck with a ton of figures. Some of the rarest figures don't even have other games they are compatible with at the moment like Villager or Wii Fit Trainer, which would at least add enough value to make more people buy them outside of the diehard fans for other purposes.
To make matters worse, I just got the following "happy" message from GAME, that just about rubs it in our face at this point:
"We just wanted to write with some good news. The price for Splatoon with Inkling Squid amiibo, Inkling Boy amiibo and Inkling Girl amiibo has decreased to £42.99. Our Pre-order Price Promise means you pay the lower price, and not the original price so there's no need to worry. Thought you should know.
Thanks again for pre-ordering with us.
Keep gaming,
The Team
GAME.co.uk"
Ok, GAME, what use is this reduced price if the squid bundle IS NOT BEING DELIVERED in the first place!?
Now the reduced price we're getting for the regular version + Inklings to compensate for the trouble has actually become a slap in the face! Why not give us a bigger discount on that replacement version, you know, to help soften the blow for our missing squid and additional day of waiting?
I'm really fed up with this shit!
Who are these losers that are stealing a van full of wii u games?
In 2020 we will have political parties grounded in Amiibo civil rights. Everybody deserves to own 'em,The amiibo gangsters are taking over.
Think that's bad? I just got an email saying they were charging me £39.99 for the £ 22.99 goodwill standard copy of the game being shipped instead of squid version.
Fuckin muppets.
Huelen?That sucks for everyone involved
...But I can't shake off the feeling the Rosalina's guy must be involved somehow in this :lol
I cant stop laughing.
Ok, that is actually far worse indeed! The price of the regular game does seem to vary quite a bit as well, doesn't it? I think that price is at the very top though, so maybe contact them to get a compensation reduction of sorts?
What a cluster f*ck this has been - I'm really tempted to never deal with GAME again after this mess.
(And to think this was actually my first order with them ever; talk about lousy first impressions!)
Edit: to be clear, I was offered the receive the regular version + Inklings for 42.99, so while it's a shame I can't have the squid as well for that price, at least I'm still saving some money on the two Inkling amiibo's I guess.
Edit 2: It seems GAME is now charging 32.99 for the regular version so make sure you're not charged any penny more than that!
I sent an email to GAME on the day of the 'truck wot got stolen, honest guvnor' asking to cancel the substitute copy of the game, but keep the Girl and Boy Amiibo in the order. Fast forward to Thursday morning, no response, order information untouched on my account page. I decided to call them and after a 15 minute wait managed to speak with a human. I was told that "...if we remove the game, you'd have to re-order the Amiibo as we can't amend orders in our system. Unfortunately this would mean we have to put you on a waiting list", essentially setting me to the back of the order queue, and to add insult to injury Girl Amiibo was out of stock anyway.
Instructed the whole order to be cancelled, ordered the Amiibo elsewhere. I still think there's something odd about this truck theft, it just doesn't sit right with me. That combined with the fact that I don't trust a word GAME say (non-amendable orders? yeah, whatever) and I think I'm done with them as a viable source for any future game purchases.
- Nintendo did not make ANY backups for that bundle, meaning it could not be replaced
Or dit you imply that you wouldn't be getting her if you only wanted the amiibo's? That's also quite a bummer of course, especially because they should have given you both for a discounted price instead! Do you know where you'll try to get them now by the way? In any case, best of luck!
Yes, that's what I meant - it seems that had I accepted the substitute standard copy (like you have) then my order would be secure for all three items. By attempting to remove the game I was told the full order would have to be cancelled and a new order for the two Amiibo would be necessary.
My LE arrived yesterday, and the Amiibo are on their way (all from ShopDeux). The only reason I was trying to keep them with GAME was the lower price when I first preordered them.
Why would Nintendo even want to hold back launch day / limited edition stock? It's not something that's typically done give the idea is to sell as much as possible.
...and my standard edition has now been despatched plus my card charged £39.99 for a substitution they promised would be £22.99.
It even says £22.99 on the order summary.
Wazzocks.
I had the same email. For fuck's sake.
Same here. Already emailed customer support. I'm not even pissed about it being the standard edition. Just wanted the fucking Amiibo.
At least I've got the Inkling Girl Amiibo on it's way...
The lorry! That's how you know the message is legit.
F*ck it, I'll just risk it. I'm not doing anything illegal as long as I'll bring one sealed copy back to the store even if it's technically not the exact same one, right?
