Do we know what the rest of the free DLC will be? Like do we have a list?

On the other hand, Geralt was sort of busy ploughing half of the Continent before hooking up with Triss (Yenn's best friend). Yen had some sort of reason to not contact him until the need was dire.

When you think about it, Triss sort of took massive advantage of Geralt. She knew him and Yen were a thing and instead of really trying to unite them, she gladly jumped his bones when he had amnesia and didn't know better.

...wow. Triss is sort of scummy, isn't she?

Whoa, you figured out how to do that? Explain. I was loving the swipe to select, but R2+face button has always been what I truly wanted.

Play with a Trainer. EZ mode. Thats what I did replaying these games last week just so I could rifle through them for the story.

Pretty much why I've decided to go the Yen route.

Her deciding not to contact Geralt could have been because she thought he was happily in love with Triss and she may not have known about the memory loss. Triss meanwhile intentionally tricked Geralt into loving her and stole him from her best friend.

I just tested it, anything that used X/Y (or suqare/triangle) outside of combat will do the melee move and just switch to the correct sign. In combat is uses it instantly, so it's not an issue.

The signs work the same inside or outside combat if you set them exactly like I have in that thread. Make sure you are unbinding R2 and the face buttons.

He had amnesia ! And needed to build up his Gwent deck ! I can't recall if Yen lost her memories too but if she did she should be more understanding of Geralt's behaviour.

It's rather funny but I don't remember for example Dandelion (other characters too) uttering a word about Ciri or Yen either.

Yeah, the more you think about it, the worse Triss seems. I mean, it ends up adorable and since Geralt can choose based on his fully-recovered memory it clearly doesn't bother him, but you know the neighbors will talk.

I still went with Triss though, because like Geralt, I didn't know Yen until this game.
 
question


when do the assassination missions start? I just go to the mist isles in act 2 about to get ciri. were they before this or after?

What did Triss conceal in the second game? Dandelion's narration in Witcher 2 states that between the Prologue and Flotsam, Triss spent the boatride regaling Geralt with tales of his past life, including his relationship with Yen. It did describe it as 'toxic,' though, I think.

Im actually planning to play through Witcher 1 for the first time and then replay WItcher 2 as soon as Im done with some other games.

Witcher 3 has really made me fascinated about the Witcher universe.

Well, the person that told me about this setup worked out the macros in Inputmapper, and so I just copied them. They probably would be copyable in DS4Windows, but I didn't look into it. Both software work pretty much the same anyway. Just that DS4Windows plays a little nicer with the touchpad.

Well, we know now that Yen wasn't hiding or anything. Considering the sorceresses know each others whereabouts, especially if they're using strong magics (something we know Yen was doing) Triss could have at any time just portaled the two together and been like "Hey, sis, he has amnesia."

But nah. She saw her chance, put on her best low cut tunic, let down her hair and went witchering.

Mine is exactly, key for key, like your set up. Maybe I wasn't pressing them simultaneously unarmed in the villages, but in combat is worked as desired so I didn't go back into a village and test it again.

Her involvement with Lodge and the fact that Demawend's assassination (even if she called quitsbefore that IIRC) was Lodge's doing at the very least.
 
Anyone else find the green part of the skills tree unappealing? It seems like you have to put a lot of points in to get anything genuinely useful. I'm much more inclined to upgrade my signs or combat skills.

I use oils and grenades and when I'm up against a difficult opponent I will take the time to equip decoctions so it's not like alchemy is something I ignore but I just don't use them enough to worry at all about my toxicity.

I use them a ton and still don't have to worry about my toxicity. so yeah I haven't a single point in the alchemy tree yet.

Toxicity too high? Down a potion that removes all toxicity.

Maybe the stamina bar was still filling up when you tried to use it? Also, I didn't use it much unarmed, but it shouldn't be different even then.

It's a bit annoying how every NPC in the game ships Geralt and Yennefer regardless of what the player is trying to do.

It makes taking the Triss route feel jarring in certain situations.

Well, the potions one is super useful. Alcoholest may be the most valuable substance in the Witcher universe, but on hard, it's not infinite. So, taking some levels in that to maximize healing is sort of a huge benefit.
 
Hold up, I just read a loading screen tip that if you destroy an item you recover any runes from it.

Is this true? What is "destroy", dismantle? Holy shit have I been wasting runes for no reason? Anyone that can confirm? (lol I just care about the runes/colours that are engraved on a sword for example when you fill it all than the rune stats)

If you slot a weapon with a set of bleed % runes and you want them back your only option is to dismantle the weapon.

Removing runes only frees up the slot for another rune later, it won't "pull out" the old runes just erase them.

So your choices are basically:
Keep weapon and destroy runes
Or dismantle weapon and retrieve runes

I thought Letho said that initially Yen didn't have her memory back and it something that she regained later.

The sorceresses seem to know each other's wherebouts when Witcher 3 starts but during the Rose of Remembrance scene in W2 Triss was emphatic about helping Geralt reunite with Yen if that was his desire. I see no reason to assume that she was lying then so I assume that some of this stuff happened in the six month gap between W2 and W3 when Geralt and Triss had some sort of falling out.

If you dismantle an equipment you get the runes back. If you choose to remove upgrades you lose the runes/glyphs and keep the equipment.

Still only level 7, just got the altnerate quen health regen, is that worth it? Seems like it would be some nice quick healing against weaker mobs. Since I can't regen with meditate, seems like this should fill in nicely. Not sure how it would perform at higher levels though.

We saw both of those not being the case. Yen didn't have her memory for a very, very brief period (according to her in Witcher 3). She made it seem like minutes or days. Also, Letho is not the most trustworthy guy around.

And yeah, Triss was totally fibbing there. She clearly could have taken Geralt to her at any time (again, according to what we know in the third game). But she didn't. Yeah, they were all sort of busy, but considering she can just teleport them around, it wouldn't have taken long.

Or, she could have at least let Yen know what was going on, that Geralt had lost his memory and that she needed to come collect her dude before he caught magical syphillis from some strumpet.

She chose none of those things,
as Phillipa mentioned in the third game,
because she couldn't wait to jump Geralt's bones.

To be honest, I found the alternate mode on quen to be complete garbage. Dodging was just as effective at letting the potions catch up and that doesn't cost any upgrade points. I'd skip it. I tried it out and never used it again. I used regular quen through the whole game though.
