[RUMOR] Dark Souls 3 to be announced at E3 ( with Miyazaki directing )

What would you have them make?

Something not a souls-type game? Maybe even, and I know this may be crazy, an RPG that is more accessible and a little less ultra-hardcore and niche. Those games are great, too, but that doesn't mean all their games should be that.

Or heck, maybe a game that is completely different all together.

I love souls games but we literally just got Bloodborne a few months ago, on top of that Dark Souls II is only just over a year old. Personally, I hope that FROM slowly develops a Bloodborne sequel or Dark Souls III. There's no reason to be so quick to develop and release the games, we'll all be fatigued by the time the gen is over.

I don't know about this.

Bloodborne took it to another level. Going back to sword and board in a slower fighting system just doesn't appeal to me.

If they can take some BB fluidity and transfer it to DS3 I would be interested...

Depend what you like more for some it forgets the rpg too much and is not that good.

Exclusive to Xbox 360.

Strangely not really hyped about this potential announcement ......

Guess I've had enough medieval period fantasy stuff within the Souls universe.

BUT, this is Miyazaki, so no telling what he could do with the 3rd in the series.

I wish From would take all this cachet they've acquired by putting out games people love in recent years, and make *something* other than another Souls game.

Whatever happened to Armored Core?

The amount of people that care about AC right now, is not many if you include me. If they want to capitalize on their name with the AC property they will have to change the game by a lot. I do hope for that but these things were in production for some time and need to be finished first. I am not dead yet so i can take another souls game.

Why are people saying its too soon? From has released like 4 games in the past 6 years. A bunch of dlc and remasters on top of that. The genre for them is going to become an annual thing. It pretty much already is. I would say there is more than 50% chance this rumor is true.

People are not questioning Dark Souls 3 but Miyazaki directing. He just came off a huge project and if this is ready to show it would have been in development already while Bloodborne was in development.

I'd rather have Bloodborne on PC, but still, pretty happy if true.

Edit: if it's not a damn PS4 exclusive.

I dont know man....After Bloodborne I cant touch Dark Souls anymore :(
Yeah, this. I'd rather have him make a new Bloodborne. :(

That said, I do not believe this to be true. Bloodborne just came out and Yosp confirmed that Miyazaki is working on DLC. Don't see where a DS3 would fit in there.

Man, i forgot that theres a strong Dark Souls 2 hate in this forum. Such a shame. That team did a great job and I wouldn't mind seeing what a Bloodborne would look like from them.

They're milking this shit to death. Let these games breath a little, this is technically the fifth game in the Souls series of which we just got two within a year of one another. I'm hoping that this rumor doesn't pan out.

As much as I'd prefer more Medieval Miyazaki goodness to Victorian, I'm sorta skeptical he'd return to Dark Souls. I'd imagine a return to Bloodborne to improve upon the foundation he's built and create a sequel with far more content, then maybe a transition to something else after that.

Dark Souls III by b-team FromSoft, however, is very believable.

This just seems a bit too far-fetched for me to believe since he just finished work on Bloodborne (hell he's probably not even finished with it since there'd DLC to come). I'd love it if it were true, though.

I would really want a Demon's Souls 2 but Dark Souls 3 might work if it's PS4/XB1 gen only. I wouldn't want it to go back to PS3/360 after Dark Souls II.

As far as I'm concerned, they should take their time.

...I don't buy this. If he is directing it, surely development must've only started recently? Wasn't there an interview ages ago with someone on the DS2 team who said they were already getting ideas down for the sequel?*

*can't find a source, may be pulling this out of my ass

I'm gonna put this down as not true. Bloodborne just came out, plus Miyazaki would be working on the coming Bloodborne dlc at the moment. I doubt this.

Yeah, Miyazaki worked on the Artorias DLC until he went on to work on Bloodborne. I don't think he would leave the Bloodborne expansion only to start working on DaS3 to announce that he's working on DaS3 after ~2 months of work.

Dark Souls 3 is most likely real, but helmed by the DaS2 directors and team.

I'd rather have Bloodborne on PC, but still, pretty happy if true.

Not happening with it being a collaboration between Sony/FROM etc.

Hopefully it's not exclusive to playstation, but man as soon as this is announced that trailer is all I'm going to watch then media black out.

You're right, the Dark Souls 2 team was teasing stuff that they said would "blow your head off!"

Its not like these are big AAA games with bunch of voice acting and cutscenes for him to direct. If they announce this E3 and release next year in the fall I don't see why it would be so impossible for him to do it. Like I said they have released a lot of content in very little time and he has been behind for most of it.

this rumor smells like click bait for a website.

just because you want the game doesn't mean that this sounds the least bit realistic.

Ready for it.

It's never too soon. Bloodborne is similar in style but a different franchise. People who played Dark Souls 2 are quite exhausted and already completed the original game and played or passed on SOTFF. I played a ton over 400 hours worth on the 360, played a bit on the Xone, bought Bloodborne CE though I don't own a PS4 yet.

Dark Souls 3 may be announced but it will be another 3 years or 2 until released, I'm guessing. I wonder what changes they will do to the overall game. I hope it's as atmospheric as the first one, heck I wish they would remaster the first game on new gen systems.

For you, and all the other PS4 owners maybe.

I think a lot of people groaning at this information are forgetting about the millions of people who bought the games on X360 and PC who might have missed out on Bloodborne, while Namco and FromSoft are most definitely not forgetting about all the money laying on the floor waiting to be picked up when From gets back to multiplatform Souls-making.

Heay have meant "too early" in terms of series fatigue, but I think most people saying "too early" mean its implausible that Miyazaki's team has something to show this soon after Bloodborne launches.

Dark Souls 3, in my opinion, was never a question. Its going to happen. Miyazaki being at the helm sea unlikely to me.

Did he work on the Artorias DLC for DK1? If not, then i guess he pretty much won't work on the Bloodborne DLC, too.

He did.

Yeah, this is clearly bollocks. I'm sure Bamco are going to make sure there's a Dark Souls III, but it probably won't be announced this early and I think there will be at least one sizeable DLC for Bloodborne before Miyazaki is ready for anything else.

I love souls games but we literally just got Bloodborne a few months ago

PS4 owners exclusively got Bloodborne a few months ago, while there are millions of sold XBone's out there without it, plus a dedicated PC community who buys the shit out of the games who missed it.

This announcement makes perfect sense at this time when you think about the logistics behind the multiplatform nature of the Souls' games vs Souls+Bloodborne together that only PS4 owners got. Bloodborne, the souls game that isn't, just released to rave reviews and great sales. What better time to push news of a sequel to the series everyone else gets to play by pointing at that and saying, "hey, we didn't forget about you guys, and just look at how awesome the last game we made was...excited yet?"

It could be an early announcement, with an early 2017 release. It would makes sense, 3 years of development would be fair.
Also, the DSII team developed the Scholar edition? I can't imagine a DSIII so advaced in development.
