[RUMOR] Dark Souls 3 to be announced at E3 ( with Miyazaki directing )

I like Dark Souls 2 a lot more than Dark Souls 1, so I'm hoping it continues some of the aspects of the sequel (bonfire warping, more plentiful healing items, easy co-op).

Why? Dark Souls 2 is superior to Dark Souls 1 in a lot of ways, I would trust them with a Bloodborne sequel.

if Miyazaki is directing I am guessing it won't be slated at the earliest until late next year.... since I am guessing it could be still early in development

I fear the souls games are headed the way of Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk. Everyone loved the shit out of them until we just got too damn many of them.

It may seem early but it makes perfect sense. I'm sure that Namco are trying to get Dark Souls 3 out as soon as possible. Bloodborne was a huge success and Dark Souls 1 and 2 did big business on PC and Bloodborne being only on the PlayStation 4 couldnt tap into that marktet.

It's time to announce it. At this point in DkS1's life, we had known about DkS2 for several months. People saying it's too early actually have it totally backward. Bloodborne is a different franchise.

Insiders have also suggested From has been busy getting cozy on Sony hardware, so an announcement at their conference seems pretty likely.

Bloodborn team started on DS3 and DS2 team started on BB2 immediately following their respective projects? We got ourselves a Souls factory boys.

i do hope it changes things up a lot. i feel like the differences between demon's souls. dark souls 1 and bloodborne make them all great. dark souls 2 is the unwanted child for me. it's too similar to dark souls 1 to be very interesting. some people put that down to the B-team being behind it. but i think it's more that it's a bit of a retread of old ideas. the others in the series feel distinct. dark souls 2 doesn't. so hopefully dark souls 3 is the 4th sequel the series deserves and not a sequel to dark souls 2. if that makes sense. lol

Read this as dark cloud 3 ;___;

Give the DS genre a breather. All very similar games, its feels like they are trying to annualize it by alternating game series but keeping similar genres going.

I don't think I can go back to the slower, methodical combat of the Souls games. Recently went back to Dark Souls to try and finish off the platinum, and I just couldn't get into it.

No, not for a few months. It would be right around now that DkS 3 would have to be announced if they were to follow Dks 2's announcement timing.

Is From even a large enough studio to annualize the souls series? That also seems like a crowded announcement to go alongside Bloodborne DLC.

Yeah, if Bloodborne 2 is without Miyazaki, then I'm more hyped for Dark Souls 3 than BB2. I'll buy both either way though.

The Bloodborne expansion is what's making me not believe this rumor though, Miyazaki is surely directing that?

So this would be a positive right if it were true?

Why are there so many double standards, people go nuts at annual franchises, but it's ok when it's a game they like yeah?

Just because they've got different names, it's blatantly fundamentally the same game (despite the titles), and if it's true then they're just as bad as Ubisoft, EA etc

I guess Dark Souls can still have another sequel. Tho I'm not such a fan of full game sequels in the Souls genre.

I want the BB expansion first.

So wait, aren't Bamco set to announce a new AAA game at E3? If not Souls Calibur VI then I'm assuming that, should the rumour be true, its Dark Souls III.

I don't really have any interest in these games, but isn't there a worry of burnout if they're really cranking these things out so quickly? They're essentially annualizing them at this point. Isn't that troublesome to fans?

Time to ask Yoshida what's the deal with the expansion!

If it were announced today both would have had a 14-month window from release to sequel announcement.

Edit: Ah, you edited. I caught my mistake too.

Still need to get Dark Souls II Scholar of the First Sin. As much as I love the Souls series and liked Bloodborne, not interested in that anytime soon, so theres no way i'm playing Dark Souls III anytime soon

Too early to announce this, even if the game is 2+ years away from release. Regardless of whether Miyazaki is directing or not. At the very least, it shouldn't be announced until after the Bloodborne expansion is done. Announcing Dark Souls 3 at next year's E3 would make more sense.

This IP needs time to breathe. Some people are already feeling a bit of Souls fatigue. Plus From has other interesting IPs and I don't want them to forget about them. As great as Souls/Bloodborne is, I don't want From Software to become the "Souls factory".

Honestly, I have doubts that this rumor is true. If it is true, then I suspect that announcing it at this year's E3 is something that Namco pushed for, rather than From.

And people are being way too harsh on the so-called "B-team"...I'm ambivalent about that term to begin with. The "B-team" is still better than 95% of developers out there. Dark Souls 2 is an outstanding game that's just a small step back from DS1.

I wonder if there's some sort of miscommunication here. Like, I'm 100% certain that Dark Souls 3 is happening, and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see it at E3. I wouldn't be surprised if Miyazaki wants to lend his name to the project either, given that he's the president of From Software now, and his big project has already shipped. Maybe he's producing Dark Souls3 and not directing it?

When Ubi or EA makes a game half as good as Souls game, call me.

The problem is not releasing one each year, the problem is having a mediocre game that is still mediocre because it needs to be released each year.

And a announcement now could be a 2016/2017 game, it´s not like they are going to release it tomorrow.
