[RUMOR] Dark Souls 3 to be announced at E3 ( with Miyazaki directing )

Or make BB2 with more variety?

Yeah, I'd be cool with that too. Still, would really prefer to play it in 60 fps and that's not happening on console.

I'd hate to see them go back to simple weapons with tiny movesets. More weapons is fine by me, but variety isn't the problem, Bloodborne has as much weapon variety as the other games, but less weapons overall, in exchange for a moveset that is up to three times as deep as any weapon in the previous games.

Gonna disagree strongly here. The transforming weapons are cool but they don't make up for the sheer variety in Souls. Even counting all the weapons in BB as 2 weapons it's not even close, and plenty of weapons had unique movesets.

Even if they announce it they probably haven't even started development.
Seems like a typical case of announcing a game way too early. Save it for next year when you can actually show us something.
I honestly think the franchise needs a 2-3 year break anyway.

Are some of you really surprised that From Software, of all studios, are milking the Souls formula? Really???

- Kings Field (1994, 1995, 1996, 2001)

- Another Century Episode (2006, 2007, 2010, 2011)

- Armored Core (15 games between 1996 - 2013)

And some of you say that Level-5 burns series to the ground LOL

Weren't a lot of those Armored Core games expansions though? Armored Core is a different kind of game, too, one that almost lends itself to the incessant releases/updates (sort of like Musou games, I guess). The jump from 96's King's Field III to 01's Ancient City was mind blowing for its time, however. As was Ancient City/Shadow Tower Abyss to something like Demon's Souls. I have not seen that "jump" yet from Souls and I'm personally growing tired of it. Either reinvent King's Field/first-person games or wow us with something new. That's where I'm at with all of this at least.

I believe Dark Souls III (assuming this isn't fake) will be multiplat, PC, PS4, XBone, and of course, no 360 or PS3 versions to hold it back.

Exactly. What people complain about is less npcs and less magic and less clothing.More of all of that is what people wanted in BB.

Especially NPCs for me, the few NPCs in the game were great, only there wasn't enough of them, which I hope the expansion addresses.

& I want a way to save the sisters.

There is literally no evidence, the way they describe the rumour is that someone sent them an email with the subject like saying "Upcoming games" and the body said "Dark Souls 3 - made by Miyazaki".

i don't have to believe this rumour to believe that Dark souls 3 is being made or that Miyazaki might be more involved since he's president. This thread just jumped up and we just speak our mind on this obvious thing happening.

I'd rather Miyazaki and team do something new and entirely different (or new-ish, a la Bloodborne), but I would understand From wanting to keep riding the Souls hype wave.

Honestly, I just want that man to have the freedom to make whatever he wants to make.

Hope it's DS3 instead of BB2 so it can be on PC. I loved BB but the framerate and graphics would be an order of magnitude better on PC.

So he literally directed two different games at once with completely different art direction/lore/story/combat and enemies?

Miyazaki's a genius but I'm not buying that at all.

I didn't read every single post but it's totally possible that they've recently started on DS3 and Miyazake was sharing the director role for a while. IF this rumor is true, I doubt we'll see gameplay footage. It'll either be an announcement with a few models on display or they've outsourced a trailer to be made.

I'd really love to see a King's Field/Shadow Tower sequel as well. They don't even have to have as much budget as Souls, maybe a digital release would be fine as well. I just want to see how it plays today.

Be careful what you wish for

If they add a way to save the sisters, I'm 90% sure they'll both attack you as beasts when the red moon hangs low

Don't forget about all the other random games they made. Including helping other studios in making them. Also, Shadow Tower games. They have a variety of games on their resume.

This, too. I wouldn't have as much of an issue with the incessant releases of Souls (and Souls-like games) if they had more breadth in their portfolio like they used to (Echo Night, Lost Kingdoms, Evergrace, Cookies and Cream, Otogi, Lost Kingdoms, etc.).

But the weapons in Bloodborne covered those different movesets, LHB for example has the sweeping moveset assigned to R1, the overhead moveset assigned to L2, & the thrust charge attack & follow up assigned to R2, normally in the previous games those movesets would be assigned to separate weapons of the same class. Bloodborne chose to combine a weapon class into a single weapon, & gave that weapon the entire movesets from the weapons in that class. I guess by your post with you not even going into NG+, you didn't really explore the weapons well?

Regardless, I want more fashion, I prefer the clothes style in Bloodborne to the armor style in the previous games, but I'd agree that there wasn't enough.

yeah, i mean if this is true and he wants to keep making souls games, more power to him. I can't really get excited about a new numbered Dark Souls though.

Whatever they make I will of course buy it cause I know even at base level I'll really enjoy it. But I'd like for them to do something new and expand on the soul style idea like Bloodborne. Not saying console exclusive, just a new setting with new ideas put in and yet familiar at the same time.
Though with the Bloodborne recently ending production and the DLC announcement, it seems unlikely that Miyazaki is on this game, but I hope he is if this is indeed true.

I'd love to see armored core back with a AC4/FA vibe.

I love the AC series but they have always been a bit clunky. Would love to see them add way more detail and attention to the AC's as they have done with DS.

Of course the scale is different but I would love to see them make some awesomely detailed worlds to mech about in. :D

Nooooooooooooo.

Can't I just save them & let them live happily ever after in the chapel?

If DS was already in development then it's fair to assume that it's handled by the DSII team.
Also, stop calling them B-team, it's not respectful imho.

Dude I hate the term B-team with a passion, thats why I would love it to be turned around this time on bloodborne just to see the chaos unfold

Well, they are working in that Monster Hunter collaboration with Capcom, HYPE! =P

too soon, I hope it's not true. They shouldn't milk it like theit other franchises

But I love milk.

More Souls is never a bad thing, ideally FROM would discover a way to clone Miyazaki & make his clones work on a Demon's/Dark/Bloodborne sequels concurrently & release them annually. While the original Miyazaki works on a new IP, only to be further cloned & make sequels to that new IP, while the original goes on to make another new IP...& so on.

But since that's not possible, this is the next best thing.

I think this would be too soon. It could easily lead to burnout of Souls-type games.

There are only so many times I want to go through long-dead/destroyed areas and get bashed into the ground by untold horrors, you know?

Hmmm, about weapon variety, I really don't think the way they work make up for the lack of variety at all. I think it's absolutely forgivable that there's much less variety, because trick weapons are amazing, and I really hope we get a few more in the DLC, but I don't think it's 1:1 like some people are implying at all.

I believe that there is less variety, it's just forgivable because it's so good.

It especially hurts challenge/weapon specific runs, because the fewer amount of weapons inevitably means fewer build defining weapons you can get early in the game.

I don't mind Demon's Souls armor based physics. In Dark Souls everything felt heavy unless you were almost wearing nothing. Bloodborne and Demon's Souls feel the best out of the four. I really want them to upgrade Bloodborne's gameplay in Dark Souls 3 though.

They need a modern Dark Souls game based around more ruined cities, subways etc. Or a game that takes from Artorias of the Abyss and time-travels players and see the world develop/destroy.

The Souls series has to be my favorite modern video game series ever, so naturally, I'm excited.

However, it seems unlikely the Miyazaki would jump off of Bloodborne so quickly, and so soon after SotFS hit.

Honestly though, I don't want to play it until 2017. I've got lots of other games to get through right now...

I think putting Bloodborne's gameplay into Dark Souls 3 would cause problems, it worked in Bloodborne because there were a lot of enemies, & they were extremely fast, in order for that to work in DkS3, they'd need to upgrade the enemies in that game or DkS3 would be piss easy, not to mention the fact that giving you the combat freedom from Bloodborne while giving you a Shield would make DkS3 extremely easy.

Nevertheless, I fully trust Miyazaki to find a way to improve the gameplay without sacrificing the challenge.

Sony probably paid From to make Bloodborne but Dark Souls is probably where Miyasaki's heart really is. From is certainly big enough to deal with multiple projects if Bloodborne DLC or sequel is warranted.

YOU ARE SHAMING THAT AVATAR.

jk

What? Where the hell did you come up with that?

Fuck yeah.

Liked Bloodborne but I'm still a sunbro at heart. I had already figured it would be there, but I shouldn't get my hopes up over a rumor.

I doubt this given how close we are to Bloodborne, but would be excited if true.
Bloodborne was weak-sauce, gimmie some Souls.

Wow

Sounds amazing. Would love to see what they can do with it if this is even true

I imagine Miyasaki would shake things up a bit

you said it like BB was made by someone else or Miyazaki didn't care about it lol

I'm actually going through both Demon's And Dark 1 after finishing Bloodborne again. All games are stand alone and differ in gameplay. Sorry, I didn't mean basically dump Bloodborne's on DS3, more like learn everything from it and apply it to DS3. Not an inbetween, but an improved gameplay. I have a feeling DS2 would've been different if they stayed with what they showed us originally but it basically became Dark Souls 1.5

Something like Ninja Gaiden (Xbox) to Ninja Gaiden 2 (X360) transition is what I'm thinking for DS3.
