He's gonna come on stage with a sack of wireless dongles for the XB1 pad and start throwing them in the air as the crowd goes wild.

YASS YASS PC GAYMUN

MS have been upping their PC support in the last 18 months/2 years, only going to do more. Probably announce some of the XB1 games they have at their conference for the show, perhaps some other ports too

Xbox covers their console, PC and mobile plans, Head of Xbox -> Head of Windows gaming. They want their new store to sell games, makes sense he is there to try and appeal to that audience

Precisely. They see it apparently more like a combined entity (Gaming division) rather than being Xbox vs PC.

Unless you think he will be there to announce Xbox only games at the PC presser?

Lmao (if this is the case)

Seems like PR move to me. Spencer will show W10 and DirectX 12 demos running on AMD cards which in turn will turn people's attention to their cards. Maybe they'll even add a graph or two showing how great DX12 is on AMD cards :) Win-win for both parties.

Expecting core, exclusive PC games form M$ is simply foolish. They won't suddenly change their whole stance towards PC gaming...

Probably because for the last like 10 years Microsoft hasn't given the slightest to PC gaming? I think it's fair to be negative at that point.

It's like your dad not being around for 10 years but continuing to make promises, at some point it's okay to call him a twat.

It's a video game company... not a family member.

People would say the same thing about Linux, Android and iOS support 10 years ago... look at it now.

Microsoft is developing a API that will make pretty much all gaming hardware on PC better, that by itself should by triumphant.

Because-

-this

So we're supposed to be negative because someone is spouting bullshit?

Probably talking about Windows 10 game streaming or DX12.

Game streaming isn't particularly exciting since Steam's version has been working pretty fantastically across multiple OS, while Microsoft's solution is so far limited to Windows. Windows 10 in general should be a bit more interesting

He is definitely gonna announce some games. Hopefully its not a port but instead a new Age of Empires or something. Would be much better. Its probably just going to be that free halo game or wtvr.

If you follow the links he said they'll talk about some games as well. I hope there's a lot more than just Fable Legends and Gigantic.

I really hope Killer Instinct makes the jump. That game deserves to be played by a lot more people.

“Halo: Combat Evolved” shipped on the original Xbox and Windows 98, and “Halo 2” came to PC after the Xbox 360 version. And for Windows 8 we shipped “Halo: Spartan Assault” and then just recently “Halo: Spartan Strike.”

The PC has seen quite the slide into the dregs of the Halo franchise. Didn't even bother bringing Halo Wars to the PC, which would have made a ton of sense, but shit isometric dual stick shooters, check.

Considering the support they've given iOS and Android over the past years, I wouldn't be so sure that streaming will be limited just to Windows for long.

The games you're referring to are mobile games ported to PC, they were not built for PC first.

What makes you think we will see any more up-ports?

Also, we want to make clear that when we talk about Xbox going forward, we’re talking about gaming on all Windows 10 devices – PCs, tablets, phones, Xbox One and HoloLens. And we’ll talk about some of the games we have coming to the PC this year.
from the interview.

I do think they want Windows 10 to be a hit so I don't think it'll just be BS

Besides fable and Gigantic there's always the possibility that Joe Montan football is real and would be on windows 10. And maybe Halo online will come eventually

Okay reading the interview, it sounds like they have a couple of games, but probably only a few.

I'm guessing Fable Legends and maybe one thing that's unannounced.

Last year I would have been hyped, fooling myself into thinking MCC/Halo 5 would come to PC.

but after the clusterfuck that is MCC, not even sure who cares about Halo anymore. Clearly the developers and publisher don't

I'm not expecting anything noteworthy to be honest, but if they announced a game or two that would be pretty sweet. KI and anything Forza related would be excellent.

Phil mentioned in a tweet they were running over on the E3 conference and would have to trim. I wonder if they cut out any windows 10 pc gaming discussion and decided to jump on board this PC Gamer conference with that information.

Would make sense now that he says they are running on time and have the E3 lineup set.

Windows 10 launches next month and we have yet to get much info on what games are going to be available in the store. Wouldn't surprise me to see things like Killer Instinct (especially where season 2 is now wrapping up) get announced here for the launch of Windows 10.

The games you're referring to are mobile games ported to PC, they were not built for PC first.

All of the Halo games on the PC have been ports of console versions, not sure what your point is. Unless they just dump all of the Xbox Ones into the sea, I would bet real money you'll never see a Halo game come to the PC first.

Edit: Reading your previous posts though, I probably should have just not responded. Keep piling up sandbags for MS, I'm going back to the Fallout 4 thread.

Enjoy your Fable Legends game play trailer.

More DX12 talk.

Exactly what I'd expect. I'll be amazed if we see any thing more. The first looks like garbage and the token "See, we care about PC gaming" stuff we've seen from MS over the years, and the later, well... It'll be great when we start seeing the fruits of it. For now, the continued "You'll see X% of an improvement!" talk is getting boring.

If there's much of anything more, hell even late ports. Not impressed, but I guess it'll be something. But hey, hope springs eternal, right?

Why so negative?

I'm excited for it.

Putting in work.

All I want from MS is a wireless dongle for the xbone controller

I still can't believe we still don't have this thing, we've had the PC drivers for wired usage for a year now - and we still have no confirmation date on when we will get the wireless dongle (we just know its meant to be coming).

I love using my Xbox one pad on PC, i bloody hate having a 3m USB cable attached to it.

The cynicism in this thread seems completely justified, based on Microsoft's previous offerings of gaming on windows platforms.

GFWL left a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

Hype deflated.

If they allow these kind of console developers on stage, this whole show has no weight to it.
You would expect the organisation to uphold standards regarding who to allow on stage.

Ugh... I can't believe Microsoft would put in the effort to make my hardware perform better....

So you can see the future?

An announcement on the Xbox One controller dongle would be pretty nice.

We might also get a game reveal for the rumored RTS title.
Exactly.

I've heard for years, "Microsoft doesn't give a shit about PC gaming".
Now some on here bellyache when Microsoft tries to reach out to PC gaming.

I'm not expecting anything noteworthy to be honest, but if they announced a game or two that would be pretty sweet. KI and anything Forza related would be excellent.

Forza feels the least likely since IIRC he gave it as an example of a game that he felt made more sense on consoles.

There's probably also more concern there since PC is bigger in Europe than the US and that's one of their main Euro focused franchises.

Doubt anything interesting, they've been promising big but all they've delivered are HD ports of decade old classics and Ori.I will remain skeptical until proven otherwise.

It's not like Android, or iOS, what a horrible comparison. Embarrassing even because they didn't make promise after promise year after year only to not do a single thing or deliver on any of those promises. Google and Apple do press conferences, announce a feature and actually ship that feature. But you're right, look at iOS 10 years ago and now, and look at MS' support and promises for PC 10 years ago and go through each year to now. Pretty big difference through and through.

I can give you a concrete timeline that show the evolution of iOS and Android compared contrasted to the press conferences for those OSes and the software and APIs that come on/with them.

MS doesn't even get that far with PC gaming, they just make statements about "Renewed focus" on PC gaming that turn out to be just talk.

MS always makes API that make gaming hardware on PC better, they've been doing that since they started the Direct X imitative. Cookie for them I guess?

I don't know about other people, but the reason I'm being negative is history. You know what happens to those who don't learn from it.
Just the link I was looking for :). I personally look forward to GfWL2

Dont understand why Phil Spencer is on stage - rather have the minds behind DX12 myself...

ps3ud0 8)

I would be perfectly satisfied with a presentation about how good DX12 is by showing off The Witcher 3 with a 40% improved framerate.

Exactly.

I've heard for years, "Microsoft doesn't give a shit about PC gaming".
Now some on here bellyache when Microsoft tries to reach out to PC gaming.

Reach out? People are not optimistic given past MS "talks" about the PC. If they actually do something worthwhile, great.

But people are rightfully adjusting expectations accordingly given MS's long list of past behavior.

*Phil comes on stage*

"PC games are very important to us, but we actually have nothing new to announce. Well here some trailer for that Fable game no one cares about."

*Phil leaves*

If that is all there is then he can keep his ass off the stage.

Give me Gears 1, 2 and 3 on PC as a $59 bundle, I'll be very damn happy. GAMES PHIL, or we don't need you.
