Fallout 4 Officially Revealed for PC, Xbox One, PS4 [Reddit Rumor = Ban]

Can't prove otherwise so just dismisses my argument. Noted.

What the hell are you talking about, proof? I think the game looks good. So do other people. Some think it looks like shit...like yourself. It's subjective.

I was laughing because you think that if other people don't think the same as you do, they are deluded... Piss off.

It's amazing how many apologists in here are eager to grovel for anything Fallout related that they think for someone to expect decent graphics in 2015 is just crazy!

What's wrong with people? How can it be so hard to understand that there is a certain level of graphical fidelity expected of each generation, and this game is clearly indicative of a ps3/360 game, yet the apologists are lining up for preorders because they don't care if it was a NES game at this point "giv meh morr falloot!"

How can people have such low/non existent standards and be so childish as to dismiss others for actually wanting good game play AND good graphics, wow, what a crazy expectation.

It's pathetic how so many people are talking down on anyone not blindly buying this day 0 because we have functioning eyes that tell us how bad the games graphics and animations are.

Sorry for all the people that have standards and expect an increase in graphical fidelity between games, many people in here say that every past game has looked bad so why would we expect this to look better...

So because their games are always of low graphical fidelity, they get a free pass and we should accept it rather than look at graphical upgrades as a reasonable next step/improvement in future titles.

I'm not foolish enough to group all of gaf together as some single entity as those grasping at straws are, but it's clear that the apologist confirmation bias is extremely prevalent in threads like this.

Not Gamebryo, haven't used it since New Vegas. This is probably the next version of the Creation engine used in Skyrim.
Meh. Creation is a 'heavily modified' gamebryo.....but so were oblivion and fallout 3 to be honest. Unless you're blind you can see that fallout 4 basically shares the Same dna. Now I'm not a gamebryo hater like some of us on here but this is hugely disappointing. It's not just that the graphics look 'last gen'. Mechanically it looks identical to their last gen offerings. I was hoping for that feeling with the oblivion reveal. It was shocking coming from morrowind. This only shocked me with how little has changed. I hope I'm proven wrong

So to be fair, the texture work and world feel a little flat. Lighting is okay and really GAF, this isn't the end of the world nor a surprise considering the developer.

If they have stellar animation and great lighting throughout the game, then all will be well.

But let's be frank, technical art has always been a weak point for the Bethesda. The world's game design is where it rises above its peers.

Everything looks flat and lifeless. Hopefully this was a console version with crazy low res textires or something. I would love to have a decent looking game to go along with the amazing gameplay.

People are allowed to voice their disappointment with the graphics, though some of the comments about it are ridiculous. It just doesn't look as good as some people were hoping it would. If other people don't care/think it looks good, that's fine too.

Wow this looks like a bad PS3 title...

I would have assumed they're building it on the RAGE engine if it wasn't for the fact that RAGE excels at high texel fidelity and the texel fidelity here is, well... non-existent.

I can only assume they're using that shitty Gamebryo grandchild engine...

Still...

In 2015...

Will be a great game for sure but seriously, it looks like something you could render optimally on the 3DS...

That's funny, I also think that Halo could run on the Nintendo DS. Oh, wait...

People saying this looks last-gen need to go back and actually play Fallout 3/NV on a last gen system again. This is a huge improvement. Is it the best looking game of all time? No. Fallout 3 wasn't either. But it's a good looking game, especially considering the size and detail of Bethesda's worlds. I think I'm actually more concerned with the animation and the way people interact with the world, it's always been a weakness in these games.
Still looks last gen, just with better IQ.

How about something close to Infamous SS quality? Remotely close. That would have been awesome.

I'd say it's about Bloodbourne quality without the artstyle. Hell, maybe the game won't need to sell a few million copies to be profitable, wouldn't that be novel.

You can enter interiors without a loading screen!

What this game lacks in individual object detail it makes up for in dynamic free flowing spaces. There was a whole fucking city, the cities in Fallout 3 were basically an awkward hallway segmented by subways (Load zones). People seem to forget how segmented and ugly Fallout 3 was. Not to mention all of the bits and bobs inside of one tiny building I can't fathom how many spoons I'll be able to stash in my hideout. Also, was that a voiced protagonist? I'm buzzing with hype, I feel like I've typed this at 100 miles per hour.

Lmao no. There is no engine that can do what Gamebryo can do. The same can be said for most engines. I'm not talking about how janky or pretty it is. I'm talking about what it accomplishes.

Anyways this is definitely going to be a graphics thread, because this is neoGAF

Please provide proof that CryEngine can't do what Gamebryo does please. This is 2015. Gamebryo is over 10 years old at this point.

It would be awesome if the game started as you playing in the world BEFORE the nuclear disaster, and then the bulk of the game in the aftermath. Not sure what kind of gameplay they would implement in the beginning, but it would be AWESOME to peruse through the towns/stroes/homes before the destruction!!!

I think the pre-E3 reveal, the low IQ and the old engine points to this game being basically done and we could see a release very soon. Maybe an E3 "it's out now/next week/next month!" kinda thing.

I know you guys think you are being funny but I think it is pretty disgusting and shameful that you are making light of an actual real issue that is prevelant in all forms of media.
To be honest, I wasn't being completely sarcastic. It was something that legitimately stood out to me, especially since the Beth games are all about character customization...why go with such a lazy default that just continues to perpetuate the same old garbage when the actual games push against it in a lot of ways?

It did turn more facetious further down the comment chain, and for that I apologize and have edited my later post.

I think the dog doesn't fit with the (colorful) artstyle of the other assets, and it's last gen like, but other than that I think the trailler is "honest": we'll get what we are seeing and thats ok with me.

Bring it on VAT gore :D

TW3 has spoilt us with Hairworks though lol.

Hairworks is a grossly profligate use of rendering power - it seemingly costs as much as all other visual elements combined in W3! Ubi's fur tech in Far Cry 4, by contrast, was a pretty decent compromise and didn't cost much at all.

I hope this doesn't have load screens between indoor and outdoor areas. That has always been a immersion killer for me.

Looks great! Graphics could've been better I suppose, but as long as the open world is fun and the writing is good, I'm happy.

Oh, and I hope the game isn't broken!

I mean, let's be real. I'm glad they're being so upfront about the sub-par (compared to other AAA) graphics, that way we know what to expect and there won't be a downgrade backlash like with Watch_Dogs and to a lesser extent Witcher 3.

If anything, the game will only improve and people will be shouting "upgrade" from the rooftops if that happens!

Man, Fallout 3 is a ugly ass game.

I didn't remember it was so rough.

Makes me happy to see a AAA game that hasn't been proritised on graphics. Graphics don't interest me anymore, We've got to a point where there's more than enough room for devs to create great looking visuals without the need to strive for ultra realism. Fallout 4 trailer looked great, making it look any more real wouldn't really add much to the game.

I would hope that if they're not really improving graphics that load times would be much better than the fun ruining NV and Skyrim times, but after Bloodborne and Witcher 3 reload times I'm not that optimistic.

I remember after the new gen started and Killzone launched, load times in AAA games would never be painful anymore.

Whatever, I just want to play a new Fallout go cry about graphics somewhere else :P

although i don't agree with the "it looks fugly"-crowd, the graphic-complaints are legit.
and by that i mean it's ok to say you expected a higher graphical fidelity.

i loved fallout 3 to death and will stand in line to get my copy of fallout 4 the day it releases. the pre-strike storyparts look awesome and the atmosphere and mood are spot-on.
but i would lie, if i said, i wasn't expecting a higher technical level.

statements that the game looks like f3 are moronic.

Come on man, don't say obviously uninformed stuff like that.

God damnit people actually want specs on what Gamebryo can do. Can someone who has followed bethesda's own comments about their engine (especially during the PS3 fiasco) shed some light on why Gamebryo is so misunderstood?

I'm not an engine programmer but I have a generic idea of the engines and their capabilities, Gamebryo is the one that does the most things you don't see or know about such as tracking data of all entities and objects in the world and storing it along with all it's modified attributes. It has to keep track of things so that a world can persist. Other engines say, "fuck that, if we try to do that our graphics are going to be terrible". So those engines keep a ilttle data around, but basically they forget about the entire world and draw a new one every time you walk around a corner.... those engines aren't for roleplaying, they're for controlled gameplay and high graphical fidelity

That's it, I'm calling this Doggate 2015. Dogs aren't just our pets and companions, we need more dog characters that have agency and aren't just pet symbols.
