Uhhhhh...
If this is related to Fallout 4 in anyway it will be funny if it was related to their delivery drones they been testing:

They want The Order quality graphics in a dynamic open world environment at 60 fps on current gen consoles. Hilarious stuff.

The dog looks like it came from a PS3 game. That kind of sucks. I wouldn't expect state-of-the-art graphics from an open world game, but I guess I was expecting something that didn't look like it fit right in with average previous-gen graphics.

Graphics are unmentionable now?

If Nintendo reveals a new Metroid at E3, but the trailer looks visually subpar, I'll still be excited since hey, new Metroid. But I'd be disappointed as well.

Hyperbolic statements like "looks like a 360 game" are asinine, but I think it's perfectly fine to be critical of the game's look when discussing your initial impressions.

Great trailer! Count me in the "graphics are good enough" team, I'm just excited to get a new Fallout world to explore from corner to corner!

Fuck the haters, it looks great and I cant wait to play it.
Fallout NV looked like a turd when it came out and I have some really fond memories of that game, am sure this will be amazing.

I think you misunderstood me since I actually don't think the game looks bad at all (I would also argue that Skyrim looked very impressive on it's release, in terms of environment if not necessarily characters) I just merely think that if they're not going to have top tier graphics, there is no excuse for the load time in between areas anymore.

If the Witcher 3 can pull off it's absolutely massive world seamlessly, there is no reason Bethesda can't manage it here with less visual fidelity.
Todd Howard has vaguely said as much...there's a quote further up the page.

Kind of interesting that they're using the same power armor Fallout 3 had for this game, at least for the promotional media. Figured they would design a new one.

I think the initial impressions are uniform

The graphics dont blow away the competition but I also think the majority of us are more than happy with what we are getting

Would UE4 be able to handle the volume found in the Bethesda style open world game? I'm sure UE4 would look great, but I'm wondering if it would be able to keep track of data (I:E, all the enemies, objects, and choices made) that Gamebryo can. Even though it gets a lot of flack, it seems like that's the only real engine that can handle the volume of data found in titles like Skyrim and Fallout.

People saying this looks last-gen need to go back and actually play Fallout 3/NV on a last gen system again. This is a huge improvement. Is it the best looking game of all time? No. Fallout 3 wasn't either. But it's a good looking game, especially considering the size and detail of Bethesda's worlds. I think I'm actually more concerned with the animation and the way people interact with the world, it's always been a weakness in these games.

I have to agree. They looked good last gen and as long as this is an improvement then I'm fine. There's really nothing more to compare it to. Knowing Bethesda they are adding more to player interaction and building the world to be much larger and more dynamic. There were areas in Fallout 3 that were just there because they brought out the distance between each location.

If they add more to the areas besides blocked off streets and points of no interest then I don't care if it doesn't take that leap with ground defining graphics. It's as good as it could possibly get for the time being. If you go back to their older games then your expectations are kinda exceeding what can be done. You don't want it to look amazing, but be half the length or have little to no variety either.

I'll admit, I was hoping for something much more grandiose and it's not because of the graphics. This just looks exactly like Fallout 3. I had imagined a true step up if this were for the latest gen of hardware. Since it is for the new gen, well, I hope the world they built is at least gigantic.

Check out Fallout 3 again, I dare you.

I find it interesting that the game looks more colorful than the previous one yet still manages to create in me that dead nature / collapsing world impression I get when I think of Fallout.

That was the most important thing for me, so I'm happy with the trailer.

People seriously upset about the visuals in an obviously massive Fallout game? I personally couldnt care less. Its a new Fallout from the studio that does the best open world games and character interactions in the industry, in my opinion.. Ive been waiting for this since NV. Sign me the fuck up.

Developer makes a bullshot trailer not representative of the final game, people complain.

Developer makes a in game trailer representative of the final game, and it actually looks good........people complain.

It's 3 minutes long too! I was honestly shocked to see that it was full of in-game shots and was long as it was before E3. A part of me was expecting a 30 second CG trailer.

Exactly the same hardware, higher quality meshes, higher quality textures, larger draw distances, real time shadows on everything (Oblivion had no shadow casting at all, even for buildings and trees, except for on up to 5 NPCs at once lol), larger game world, and a brand new foliage system so grasses and leaves didn't spin in place when you stood directly over or under them.

What the hell were you expecting? lol

Excuse me but Oblivion came out in early 2006, that's almost 10 years ago, the development of the engine from then to NOW! Is pathetic. I also saw Oblivion as a PC game first (I think most evident from the menus - compared to Skyrims which is the other way around), it was stunning graphically, Skyrim, not so much and this game, in comparison to what Oblvivion did back then, not at all.

It looks fine to me. About what I'd expect from Fallout anyways. It's not like the last gen Fallout games were lookers for their time either. The art style and asset diversity have always carried the games' visuals. Dunno if people were expecting Witcher 3 graphics or what. The main issue with these games has always been the atrocious animation. Didn't get to see much of it in this trailer but hopefully they have tried to improve on it.

It is funny how Mad Max 2 skewered peoples perceptions on what a nuclear fallout would look like. Though Mad Max's depiction is still correct as it takes place in an Australian desert and wasteland.

A nuclear meltdown is far, far different from the effects of a global nuclear war.

While after 200 years, some plant life would return, the decade(s) long nuclear winter would kill off the majoirty of plant life.

From someone who has never played a fallout game:

character models are very low-poly. That dog's hair sucks and the whole thing does not impress graphically at all. It's a turn-off actually. Too ugly for me to play.

Some of you must be taking the piss, the graphics are fine.

That's just it. The graphics are acceptable. I was hoping that after all this time and working with new hardware and shit we'd get something a little more life-like. Is that so much to ask?

That's too bad but it's your loss, I guess.

So to be fair, the texture work and world feel a little flat. Lighting is okay and really GAF, this isn't the end of the world nor a surprise considering the developer.

If they have stellar animation and great lighting throughout the game, then all will be well.

But let's be frank, technical art has always been a weak point for the Bethesda. The world's game design is where it rises above its peers.
