Fallout 4 Officially Revealed for PC, Xbox One, PS4 [Reddit Rumor = Ban]

When I say this looks exactly like Fallout 3 I'm not speaking about the graphics. I'm talking about the way this trailer shows the exact same world and actions you were capable of in fallout 3. I want something that feels fresh. I imagined real environment traversal, climbing, crawling, exploring. I imagined tool crafting and scavenging for supplies. I imagined new creatures and animals. I imagined new armor for god sakes. I can go on and on but this trailer looks just like Fallout 3 to me. I want fallout 4.

I think it's probably way too early to judge this game based on what you can and can't do in it, considering we know almost nothing about what you can and can't do in it.

Just watched the trailer as I had forgotten all about it because of a certain tennis match that is currently playing out. I feel like I am watching something else to those complaining. I must have very low standards or something.

If they show an extended gameplay segment at e3 I can see the game releasing this year or early next year.

I just don't see the game being this far along but not releasing till holiday 2016

I have a 360 and a Wii U. I've been holding off on getting a One or a PS4, because I just haven't seen any games that justify the expense.

I will be buying this day one. I've got my fingers crossed that either Microsoft or Sony will get in bed with Bethesda for a console+game bundle. If someone does that, they'll have my cash.

People complaining about the graphics are... well, whatever.

Just sounds like you were looking for another game. What is it about the trailer that leads you to that specifically not being the case? What are things you explicitly got out of the trailer rather than were being implied?

It's amazing how many apologists in here are eager to grovel for anything Fallout related that they think for someone to expect decent graphics in 2015 is just crazy!

What's wrong with people? How can it be so hard to understand that there is a certain level of graphical fidelity expected of each generation, and this game is clearly indicative of a ps3/360 game, yet the apologists are lining up for preorders because they don't care if it was a NES game at this point "giv meh morr falloot!"

How can people have such low/non existent standards and be so childish as to dismiss others for actually wanting good game play AND good graphics, wow, what a crazy expectation.

It's pathetic how so many people are talking down on anyone not blindly buying this day 0 because we have functioning eyes that tell us how bad the games graphics and animations are.

Sorry for all the people that have standards and expect an increase in graphical fidelity between games, many people in here say that every past game has looked bad so why would we expect this to look better...

So because their games are always of low graphical fidelity, they get a free pass and we should accept it rather than look at graphical upgrades as a reasonable next step/improvement in future titles.

I'm not foolish enough to group all of gaf together as some single entity as those grasping at straws are, but it's clear that the apologist confirmation bias is extremely prevalent in threads like this.

Yep, lets have every game be as graphically intensive as The Order, Killzone Shadow-fall and the like. Those games were great, right?

It's not like games with graphics at about fallout 4's level could possibly be fun. I mean, look at Bloodbourne. Trash.

Had so much fun with Fallout 3. Can't wait. Graphically it looks really impressing and I'm sure mods will make it one of the best looking game on the platform as usual. One of the games that will make justifying buying a new PC next year a lot easier.

If you haven't played New Vegas you really should. It's all the good things of 3 but even better.

The game was just announced. I highly, highly doubt that they would show new things now. Especially if the game isn't coming out for over a year

It will be quite awhile until this is actually out. This trailer in particular just needed something brand new in my opinion. I don't want fallout 3 with a new coat of paint.

We saw like what, two minutes of actual in game stuff at most and you assume there's nothing new? They're going to have a large E3 demo in less than 2 weeks.

Did you really think they'd show every new environment and creature in the reveal trailer? I'm just glad we didn't get a CGI teaser like many suspected. Hell, the addition of color is a big environmental change already.

Man, Fallout 3 is a ugly ass game.

I didn't remember it was so rough.

For it's time it was good

think about it the game came out in 2007. That's 8 years ago, I'm surprised playing it a few days ago that it still looked okay compared to other 2007 games.

No absolutely does not
I find Witcher cut and paste and repetitive quests
and I am really tired of getting stuck in building, roads etc
to the point I need to reload my last save

Bethesda does single player RPG to the max
and I have more freedom to do what I want
I never even need to do the main quests
they give the player freedom no other game has ever matched for me
I put in over 1000 hours in oblivion, witcher 1 play thru, and right now the game is a chore

Not sure which Witcher you played. :p I found it far less repetitive than Skyrim or Fallout 3.

But Bethesda does have their own style about things.

At least keeping the graphics toned down will allow them to increase environmental objects / have more characters around? Hopefully?

F3 / NV were so empty, even for a post-apocalypse. The Strip especially never felt bustling enough, but that went for all of the 'population' centres.

If it looks this dated (and really, the geometry, props, aliasing and dog are all very last-gen) they better be putting the additional grunt they have to good use elsewhere.

Damn, Riley is back

I wanna get hyped but i just can't.. With how big companies treat their games lately, i just can't get mindlessly hyped and then disappointed AF.. Really looking forward to try it out though, hopefully it's as good as F3 and NV were

I wish we could stop excusing them like this.
I mean this is a company that sold over 25 million copies of Skyrim and millions of their previous games. They have the budget to create those amazing visuals. Especially now when they have some actual competition from CD Projekt and next year Warhorse.
better yet, they could use the money on QA, to increase it from
NOTHING

I also think it is possible many of the people who are disappointed are PC gamers. Because many played Fallout 3 in 1080p at very high settings in 60fps back then. I suppose if you only played it on console, this might look like a much bigger jump.

Because honestly, graphical fidelity is one of the least important aspects of what makes a good game and it baffles me that people put so much value into it. A game never has, doesn't and never will have to have cutting edge graphics to be a good game. This mentality is hurting the video game industry. It's like saying every movie needs to be a CGI powerhouse. There are about a dozen other things that could make this game great, but you're ready to write it off as not worthy of playing because the graphics aren't the best.

Graphics haven't put me off from games since the PS1/N64 era, and that's because the technology was so bad in retrospect that it limited art style and what you could do with the game. Even at the time it looked amazing.

And I'm saying these things as someone who doesn't particularly like the Fallout games, or Bethesda as a developer in general.

Looks mindblowingly good.

People crying about the graphics?

Ha, grow up.

Tells people to grow up because they have a fair reason for criticism, guess you should start drinking your milk too then.

That said expecting mind blowing visuals from Bethesda was a lost cause to start with (I'd rather have better animation tbh)

Doesn't matter how good the world looks if the models look like something from a PS2 game. Main character's hands, ears and ass look like blocks (maybe the radiation did it?) The dog in that photo looks copy and pasted using Paint.

I enjoyed the trailer. I really hope the loot system is better in this game as well as shooting. I just started playing NV and the shooting is terrible. I remember Fallout 3 being terrible in that regard also.

Is it me or do the colors seem brighter in this one? Like, colors actually exist. The sky exists.

I like it! Can't wait! I never got into 3 because I didn't like the color pallet that much.

For you.
chernobyl_theusindependent.jpg

Chernobyl says hello. Plant life will return. But it wil take time to become a green zone.

Considering the game will probably take place more than 200 years after the bombs dropped...

That and, well, you know.... that Chernobyl doesn't actually look like that all year? Seasons are an amazing recent invention.

anyone expecting the game to look like this are the ones taking crazy pills... what witcher 3 and watch dogs wasn't enough? why would they show 90% of the video and it looks like crap then show a couple of quick cuts that look amazing and you assume that's what its going to end up like LMAO

Disjointed, inconsistent visual themes, heavy handed metaphor, lacking any moral overtones.

Pisspoor excuse for a fallout trailer. I am expecting even worse than the lackluster effort from three.

Fallout looked pretty shitty on PC with mods even. I mean, modded morrowind looks better than modded fallout.

Yikes graphically it's not good at all. Right from seeing the dog at the very start and then the character models and environments. I mean I guess it's early days and there should be plenty of time to get it looking good but this wasn't a good reveal. But beyond that, I didn't see anything to get excited about with the game over the last one.
