Okay, I fully admit that as a proud resident of the state of NY this will sound salty as hell, but is it just me who has noticed that Boston has seemingly become the center of the United States over the last ten years?
Yes, I'm aware that there are a lot of reasons for Boston to be so popular, all of which are from the sports world. It was started in 2004, when the Red Sox, down 3-0 in the ALCS against their archrival Yankees, came back, won all four games, and went on to sweep the World Series and become the most popular team in baseball, winning two more titles since. The Patriots have been the measuring stick in the NFL as Tom Brady has become the game's most popular player by a country mile, and even controversies like spying on other teams and deflating footballs have seemingly INCREASED their popularity. The Celtics and Bruins have consistently been among the most popular franchises in their respective sports, and the horrible tragedy at the Boston Marathon two years ago just increased the love and admiration for the city. One of the biggest stars in the WWE, John Cena, is a native of West Newbury, just outside Boston. One of the most acclaimed and popular movies of the last ten years, The Departed, was set in Boston. Oh yeah, and the frigging Olympics are most likely going to be held there in 10 years.
And now, Fallout 4 will be set in Boston. While the series isn't as high-profile as, say, Grand Theft Auto it's still a a huge show of respect for a city. And considering that residents of the city aren't exactly...ahem...humble, I think it's just going to increase the ego of Mass-GAF.
And I'll just say it now. Translation: BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

I'd :lol if that weren't 100% true. I will be restarting so many times just to keep Dogmeat alive.Oh trust me, you'll be close to the dog. And then it'll die. And you will cry.
Graphics are the least of my concerns in "things Bethesda has fixed in the next Fallout game."
my god.... GAF is more disappointed than excited for this game huh.
I am #teamDayOne
Oh I'm sorry, the last of us looked like trash on ps3 right, such a bad looking game /s
Maybe if you have something valid to contribute you could try harder.
For those complaining about the gay-brown look of fallout 3... that's excactly how it was supposed to look

In fact fo4 reminded me of the bright, colorful and clean type 0 hd compared to the original type 0 that was dark and gritty on purpose.
Obviously changes happen and maybe it's for the better, but honestly i loved the lifeless look of the fo3 wasteland.
The intellectual counter argument is that you're making assumptions that it's going to be a "Focus group produced dreck" after seeing 3 minutes of a teaser trailer. Anyone's opinion that is that strong after seeing 3 minutes of a game that is probably dozens of hours long doesn't deserve to be taken seriously. Is posting a jpg/gif your version of an intellectual counter argument?
Why not try to dispute the statements I've made if you disagree. Hype for hype's sake is a marketing scheme, not a way of life.
Fallout is a series where three out of the four mainline entries are a sublime mix of absurdist referential cultural humor mixed with legitimate moral commentary. One of the few gaming properties that even attempts to validate itself with the human condition even while still being a game first.
Watching that devolve into focus group produced dreck is fairly shameful on the industry.
Phone wallpaper for y'all

I think you're reading WAY too much into things.
So what exactly do you want this game to look like? The Order? Killzone Shadow Fall? Linear games vs what will probably be one of the biggest open worlds ever made. When you make a bigger world, the graphics are going to take a hit. That's why the best looking games are always enclosed linear ones. The open world games that look great take big hits in framerate. Just look at Assassin's Creed Unity and The Witcher 3. The former was barely playable at launch and the latter has been quite annoying on PS4.It's amazing how many apologists in here are eager to grovel for anything Fallout related that they think for someone to expect decent graphics in 2015 is just crazy!
What's wrong with people? How can it be so hard to understand that there is a certain level of graphical fidelity expected of each generation, and this game is clearly indicative of a ps3/360 game, yet the apologists are lining up for preorders because they don't care if it was a NES game at this point "giv meh morr falloot!"
How can people have such low/non existent standards and be so childish as to dismiss others for actually wanting good game play AND good graphics, wow, what a crazy expectation.
It's pathetic how so many people are talking down on anyone not blindly buying this day 0 because we have functioning eyes that tell us how bad the games graphics and animations are.
Sorry for all the people that have standards and expect an increase in graphical fidelity between games, many people in here say that every past game has looked bad so why would we expect this to look better...
So because their games are always of low graphical fidelity, they get a free pass and we should accept it rather than look at graphical upgrades as a reasonable next step/improvement in future titles.
I'm not foolish enough to group all of gaf together as some single entity as those grasping at straws are, but it's clear that the apologist confirmation bias is extremely prevalent in threads like this.

I'm sorry. You're our hero... And you have to leave.I'm impressed with the art direction and graphics too
Here's the thing...
I think it's perfectly reasonable to complain about subpar visuals in a AAA game in this day and age. And not necessarily just the graphics, but the art style too. I'm not really impressed with either from the trailer.
On the other hand, most Bethesda games (including Obsidian's FNV, my absolute favorite) are big, fun, and absolutely butt fucking ugly. I mean, really now... did anyone actually think Fallout 4 was gonna be a huge change for the series? Slightly better, upgraded Fallout 3 is still butt fucking ugly by most standards.
Honestly, the one thing that really worries me visually is the fact that it looks like they're still using the same damn engine. Which means it will probably run like crap and be buggy as hell. I'd be totally ok with the visuals shown so far if it meant that they scaled back on graphics to provide a smoother experience.
Ok, now you're just being an ass. :/
Don't think I have read a more entitled whiny post in the entire thread. If you think this trailer looks indicative of a 360 game then you need to blow the dust of your 360 and take another look at its games.
I cant even beli8eve people are making excuses. Bethesda doesnt need you to defend their shitty practices. They owe you, not the other way around. And what have they done with the money from all of the sales we have given them? It sure as fuck isnt being put into making a beter looking game. If you want to know what that looks like look at the GTA series, or Witcher, or any other series.
Stop being a bunch of damned suckers. They owe you. Not the other way around. And with the number of sales theyve gotten over the years from us, with as long as we have put up with these greedy fucks pocketing those profits and obviously putting fuck all back into game after game, and now they cant even give us an improved engine even on next generation machines? Why are you people suck suckers?

I hope there will be a Red Sox Clan.
because that would be hilarious.

You're doing the video game equivalent of judging a book by it's cover. Or saying a movie is going to definitely be shit because you saw a trailer once.
I'm at a loss here guys. Are we still talking about this game?

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
Even if it was true. Sure, fuck those people who buy great games regardless of graphics.
.
I'm sorry. You're our hero... And you have to leave.
But isn't that exactly the purpose of the teaser? You seem to have had high expecations. Save those for the actual full reveal next week.
Wait if fallout 4 is in 2016, does that mean we wont be getting next elder scrolls game until 2017?
You'll wait the equivalent 7 years like us. 2018.Wait if fallout 4 is in 2016, does that mean we wont be getting next elder scrolls game until 2017?
To make your tent pole narrative vignette focused game look like a twelve years old's pastiche of the apocalypse?
If that's what you want all power to you. I have expectations and they include a bit of class and style. The way companies choose to present a game rarely fails to reflect upon the core goals that went into design. Bethesda wants bigger numbers and that requires a generic audience, so their game is going to be more generic. This then shows in the style of content on display and the erratic, disjointed presentation. Don't focus on any one thing just be excited that this exists.
