Fallout 4 Officially Revealed for PC, Xbox One, PS4 [Reddit Rumor = Ban]

I watched the trailer on my phone. No ambient occlusion or am I crazy

Not just you. Just look at that one screenshot from chopper's perspective. The AO around the BOS soldier is terrible.

Loved this shot so much:

The colours are amazing. The world looks bombed to shit, but still unique in the different areas.

I can appreciate that as well as the new and improved lighting, but in the same manner I cannot unsee the lack of AO, poor DOF and flat textures.

Yeah, a number of people have brought that up (there's a thread now talking about voiced PCs in RPGs)... I think choice in character creation in RPGs is always a good idea and having a voiced character perhaps signifies being locked into a particular template? Though you could easily have a voiced female PC as well a la ME and they just aren't showing it in this trailer. You know, come to think of it, it would have been a cool break from tradition to have the Vault Dweller PC shown in the trailer to be a woman, regardless of whether you can choose your gender.

hoo boy. If that's not altered and has been staring us in the face the whole time.... lol
From a mod. So not legit but concidence?

This thread is already 42 pages. Love it or hate it Fallout 4 is going to be a sales monster. I pity any game releasing the same month.

The trailer was not unimpressive ...sure maybe it didnt have the most amazing graphics we've ever seen but it still looked next gen especially considering the scope of the game

Hard to get hyped when Bethesda fucked up Fallout 3 so badly and then let Obsidian take the shit for New Vegas despite it kicking the crap out of their game.

Yea, I kinda feel the same way. Fallout New Vegas basically made me add "not made by Obsidian" to my list of cons for every Bethesda game.

Seriously guys, I had another look at the screenshots in the OP, and this does look terrible. Doesn't mean it can't be a good game, but graphically it's not even on the relative level Bethesda achieved on the previous consoles compared to the competition. I think we should all accept that.

(Then again, the competition has heated up)

At long last a trailer that looks "modest" enough for me to believe that this is what the gameplay graphics will be like. Good call Bethesda. Make it locked-rock-steady-30fps and I'm happy (60fps would be insane and welcome of course).

It looks good.

I'm gently concerned that those leaked Kotaku script pages would seem to be real, based on this (Man loses wife and baby etc), but hopefully they polished that writing. I don't know.

But it looks good! And pretty (within the confines of what sort of game it is).
Those were casting audition scripts, so they might have been written up just for auditions, or they might have been changed and tweaked over the past couple of years.

And, yep, they're real. Crazy that it's been 18 months since we posted that!

Yeah. I don't really gel with Fallout in general nor with the Bethesda style RPG as I personally find them a bit bland. I really liked what Obsidian did with NV.

But hey, maybe Bethesda has improved, learned and iterated?

we can only hope but they put out Skyrim after FO3 and that's even worse.

Please for the LOVE OF GOD...

DON'T BE ASS ON CONSOLES.

Not really interested on the game, but hoping for great mod support and I my pick it up two or three years after release.

Finally a trailer that looks like the real deal. But somehow I expected a different art style - more gritty and not so comic-like. Not sure if I like it but it's Fallout. I will love the game <3

Yeah, not a looker by any stretch of the imagination but I have one question I need to know. Loading between interiors and exteriors, in city/ out of city?

No story could ever be as cool as the courier's. I think one of the reasons is because he/she didn't come from a vault. It's going to be weird stepping back into a vault jumpsuit to start out.

You would have to sit and watch each of those areas for about 15 minutes to understand why the graphics on the left are from a newer gen machine, and that there is so much more going on in the world to the left. But yeah you're just looking at graphics I guess, and that's what videogames were made for, to be looked at right

And to be fair, other shots from the trailer would blow M2 away.

Tbh Bethesda might be implementing some things in the gameplay, AI and world simulation department that have never been done before, they might be ready to wow us with a different form of tech or world-building

Post apocalyptic... with the V.A.T.S...

Now i need to now that this doesn't have any kind of coop or multi to be SOLD on it.

PD: and haven't got tons of shitty DLCs like other games nowadays.

Graphics are what I expect for a Bethesda open world game on current gen consoles.

This will be the first game I pay full price for in about 5 or 6 years. So hype.

Nope, no AO. And I think that's hurting the game's look more than most aspects of the visuals. Objects just don't look grounded and connected to the rest of the world. Getting some AO in there would massively improve the overall impression.

It looks neat but I can't dredge up much excitement. I really wish this was being made by Obsidian again. The only thing Bethesda is good at is making open world maps.

The game looks goddamn beautiful. Thank god for no cross gen.

Time to start saving up for a PS4.

Edit: Upon closer inspection, human models kind of suck.

Wow, this is the first trailer I have ever seen where I was actively complaining about graphics while watching. I love PS1 and sprite based games, why are the visuals in this game annoying to me?

I'd be curious to see how the finished product stands up. If cutting corners allows for more populated worlds I can see the benefit. I know New Vegas had a lot left on the cutting room floor.

I think overall plot in New vegas was better, but I actually think the vault was a better tutorial/intro starting point. The whole you're "the courier thing" was overplayed, especially since I don't remember a single quest in that game where you deliver mail.

See, if they brought over some writers from Obsidian I'd be dancing in my chair. Let them build out a few quests, write some dialog...add in some flavor, y'know?

It does sort of look like it could be though. It's just not very impressive in any way. No crazy dense vegetation like in TW3, average textures, average character models, no ambient occlusion (which I REALLY think is hurting the overall look), poor LOD in the distance, no particularly advanced shading nor PBR from what I can see, etc. So yeah, to me this looks like it COULD run at 60 fps on the consoles. Not saying it will though. Might just be that Bethesda's engine can't do better than this with decent performance.

I agree that It's not that impressive looking but I've never thought Bethesda games looked very impressive on consoles(other than art style). I just don't see them going for 60 fps.
