Fallout 4 Officially Revealed for PC, Xbox One, PS4 [Reddit Rumor = Ban]

I must say it is really sad that people are so obsessed with graphics. I am not saying they don't matter. They matter to an extent, but some people really have a very high standard when it comes to it.

I think some people need to be less shallow when it comes to graphics, you will enjoy gaming a lot more trust me.

I am really looking to this game. It has been a while since stepping into a Fallout game.

I am neither obsessed nor shallow. We are talking about Bethesda here. They have made a shit ton of money with their games. They can recruit the best artists in the industry. They can use the best technology in the industry. But they chose to not do that.

And this makes me angry, because they are being cheap. And they expect me to pay 60 Euros for this game. This is also the same company who introduced shit DLCs like the horse armor. It's the same company who tried to monetize user generated mods to fix their ugly-ass games. They are just fucking greedy.

And I'm tired of fans who are so easy to impress. Yes it's a new Fallout game. How generous of them to make one, after all the previous ones were financial failures. And there is a story and gameplay, Whoop Dee Doo. But for me that's not enough. I also want good graphics to immerse myself in this world. That's what I expect from a multi-million dollar company. I just don't get how so many people have so low expectations. Why?

I'm surprised that people are surprised that there's negative reactions to the graphics on the Internet. I mean, just look at them. They're not great, so it's obvious there will be discussions of it.

And just to be clear, I play plenty of games that aren't graphical powerhouses and love them. Style and direction often mean a lot more to me than raw fidelity. But this is just disappointing.

I don't even know what going on in this thread anymore...people arguing over Bethesda graphics and assuming things when the game didn't even came out yet...let alone a E3 presentation.

Welp I'm still hoping on the hype train and day 1'ing the game.

I was coming to post this EXACT SAME THING.

You and everyone else who don't even want to read the page they're on, much less the rest of the thread!

So that person on Reddit, /u/SandraReed might've been saying the truth all along?

Don't read the comments though!

God damn it. This ride will never end.

Most of it is based off of this 2013 Kotaku article, with only a couple things changed, such as gender option, and the random DLC schedule plus Naughty Bear people spin-off: http://kotaku.com/leaked-documents-reveal-that-fallout-4-is-real-set-in-1481322956

Unless you have something better to back it up, keep it out of the thread please.

The graphics don't bother me but it's ok to shit on them if you are disappointed. They are all the info we have to go on anyway so Bethesda did this to themselves. I'm more concerned with those nasty dog animations.

She said a long time ago and I really didn't believe. But according to this, I have very high hopes that this game will be spectacular.

By the way, I think it will be released for old gen.

Well according to her...
Fallout 4 will be available for a wide range of platforms after launch. The first version that will be released is being developed for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. This version uses a brand new engine built from the ground up to take advantage of the power of next gen systems. Absolutely everything is new, and no assets or scrips are being used from Fallout 3/NV or Skyrim.

i just want bethesda to come out and say its only on new gen and pc so i can relax >.>

Why does it matter? Does it look like it's a ground up next-gen creation? The existence or ultimate fate of last-gen versions is immaterial at this point, the game is what it is.

What the hell? It really sucks that you can't play as a female Vault Survivor. There are very few legitimate "story reasons" why the player character can be male only.

Finally got around to watching this on not my phone.

Damn, those graphics are rough. :( And being DX11, it'll be a lot harder for modders to improve...
shit, i didn't think of that....

Add in that it was Bethesda (and Valve) who wanted paid mods....
Paid mods would allow people to dedicate their time to Modding giving forth amazing DX11 mods.
DirectX11 is mostly an impediment to developing ENB or a similar rendering/postprocessing mod. This trailer doesn't look amazing in that regard but I'd imagine that with everything cranked to max it would leave a lot less desired than F3 or Skyrim. Where this trailer looks a bit rougher is in LOD, IQ and asset quality. The first two can be fixed with enough grunt. Models and textures should be as easy to replace as ever. What we should be hoping for is an overhauled animation system which would allow for better replacements and for modders to add new animations without overwriting old ones, but I'm not holding my breath.

How often do games improve graphically, from the first trailer to release?

I think that person is saying that its a hugely anticipated game for a variety of reasons and this is our first look, and all people can comment on is the visuals.

The graphics are not super amazing, but people are right to point out the blatant hyperbole of saying they suck or are terrible.

They are doing the job they set out to do. A decent looking game, probably very easy to run a lot of HW with a lot of scale and things to do.

Fallout 3 looked absolutely shit, but it was okay because the game was fun and it could run on all HW.

Skyrim looked much better than Fallout 3 and NV, but it was obviously a basic 360 port on all platforms, lots of open world games looked better at the time, but they set out to achieve a target for game design and it basically worked out being able to run on a toaster.

Its the same here. The game probably has a lot of legacy 360 and PS3 code, but their priorities lie in places besides trying to make the game look pretty in screenshots

it just bothered me that if that were the case then itd be saying bethesda wasnt pushing forward 100% with only next gen but also carrying the burden of satisfying last gen too

that'd make me feel like they arent passionate about just making one single next gen game that they can refine to hell and back with all their might

You mean except for having to have to separate stories and voice actors? Sure you could get away with just a second VA ala ME, but that was / would be at the expense of the story.

I feel like I never know what people want in graphics. I saw the trailer and thought it looked pretty good and not once did I think the graphics were substandard, hell I think at one point they genuinely impressed me.

Then I look at the YouTube comments and it's people moaning about graphics, I go to neogaf and from a quick skim there is a discussion on the graphics. I guess it's a positive thing since I'm rarely disappointed.

I thought the trailer itself was great, really hyped for fallout 4 already.

It honestly wouldn't change that much, beyond switching a few scenes here and there. 90% of the game wouldn't care that you are anything more then the vault sweller.

whats your most embarassing fallout 3 memory?

mine is when a hot chick nova tells you she'd service you for 200 caps and i actually hauled ass to make 200 caps and when i went back to her all she did was give me a room, she just sat on the bed and did nothing

Well my point was it doesn't really matter what they say. They can and will spin whatever PR yarn they think is most advantageous to their bottom line, but the proof is in the pudding and you've got a 2 minute bowl of pudding in front of you. If they come out tomorrow and claim there has never been a last-gen version and they started the game 4 years ago for next-gen and next-gen only, that doesn't make it true or change the product you're going to get.

I didn't save for the longest time first playing. After leaving town and doing stuff I ran full-steam ahead towards a crab-person with a pipe and got my ass handed to me. Lost about an hour.

I guess it depends on how important the story is. Sure it's Bethesda and it's easy to assume it won't be very narrative driven, but you never know. But, who knows, maybe you can play as either sex. I'm sure that they wouldn't limit the player, something Bethesda would seem to be idealistically against, unless they had good reason.

im really sorry but you got what you deserved here, dude

thats like fighting a building with a golf club

you can break a window or two and chip some bricks but youre gonna get fucked up instantly

j/k ive been there too ):

The reddit post(I still remember that day when I saw some news which led me to that thread) is not that significant but still it is interesting to see how this turned out and will turn out eventually.I would really be disappointed if they used same engine and assets for this game but this is still not clear from the official release.

The only comment I can make is the graphics that is outdated (If they expect modders to do their job then they should put the names of these modders at the end of credits and actually pay them),

What happened to all the people that were excited about a new fallout game? I really liked that thread for the countdown, that one was full of excitement. This one is like the opposite :(

Is it just a whole different bunch of people who didn't say a peep during the countdown thread, and just sat around waiting for there to be anything concrete so they could start bitching and whining about how much bethesda sucks?

Graphics aside, I think it'll be interesting to see how Fallout 4 will be perceived. We live in a post-Witcher 3 world as RPG's go. I think Bethesda is typically very good at making a multi-layered open world. In Skyrim you had the quaint villages by the lakeside to snowy mountains as well as fairly large caves and ruins embedded into the environment. One of the best features of that game was stumbling into a small opening to a cave and not realizing what you were getting into. An old network of caves overrun with Falmer? Or perhaps an old Dwemer ruin? Fallout 3 and NV had a similar concept with hidden vaults along with the excellent varieties of enemies. So I fully expect Fallout 4 to have a world that's exciting to explore.

I guess my main question is what surrounds it? I think my main knock against games like Skyrim and Fallout 3 is the writing could be inconsistent. The main quests never felt strong enough to support the world (to the point where I felt exploration beyond the main quests were all but essential) and memorable characters were few and far between. Side quests were also a mix of interesting and mundane (though the ones that were good very quite excellent IMO). When I see something like the Witcher 3, I see a game with consistency of developing a great open world to explore, along with strong writing and characters that make that world all the more interesting and memorable. If Bethesda can pull off something similar with Fallout 4, then that would be fantastic.

The graphics do seem a bit modest but I'm actually pretty excited for what this might mean. Two big ones for me are:

1. Maybe it'll lead to more square footage overall and/or more to do within that space.

2. Weather or at least more variation in terrain. It's the right part of the country where we could see or get snow.

I'm super stoked for this and I've had the bug to play something like this again recently. I have a lot of faith in Bathesda to craft an incredibly fun game. I wonder if we'll see the shooting mechanics tuned to make things outside of vats more usable.
