Stella has been removed from FFXV; Itamuro writing game; Demo 2 June 9; FFXV not @ E3

That is quite true.

But in some sense... Isn't that kind of a bit of spin? Final Fantasy XV: A Realm Reborn by Hajime Tabata didn't begin production until 2011...

...But Nomura and co obviously had a task for 2006-2011. They made all kinds of content. I think SE expected that project to eventually come to fruition but it just wasn't happening, so they pulled out the brakes (and the producer).

I really don't know if the Nomura failed production thing is entirely true. I'm not saying that it isn't a possibilty.

But look at his track record:

Nomura way pretty loaded from 2006-2011. He directed 4 games in that timeframe and Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance released in 2012.

Tabata became a co-director in late 2012.

I'm not saying your conclusion is wrong but I think there is maybe more to it.

Yeap.
I remember that interview with him after Type-0 came out and him saying it was finally Versus XIII's turn... man...
Sadly it happened around the same time SE canned a ton of stuff to revive FF14.

Are you able to talk about any of the stuff they canned?

Poor Nomura, I remember one interview where he said he he looks forward to a vacation since he never gets to see his wife and kids anymore. :/

One specifically was the console version of Blood Masque.

They canned a lot of western stuff around the same time too, which had nothing to do with FF14 resources. I wonder if most of it didn't have to do with the new CEO, or the so-called "FF committee".
Let's just say Fortress and Versus XIII are not the only two FF that won't see the light of day.

What hurts the most in all this is that, not only do we have to accept that Versus XIII was effectively cancelled, but we'll never get E3 2013's FFXV either.

:(

They still don't know if the Leviathan part will be in...

Hmm, interesting since it's a mobile game

Yeah, Fortress looked pretty cool. I'll miss Ivalice.

I'm actually kinda embarassed for them.

Yeah, whoops, we don't really know how to incorporate the heroine, so here's a new one.

Sorry, but you actually won't be able to play as Noctis' companions.

That warping mechanism? Ehhhhhh

Oh that cool Leviathan battle? Weeelll, maybe?

Please be excited.

Day 1

From watching the ATR it seemed like they were saying they weren't sure you'd be in the water during the Leviathan fight, not that they weren't sure you wouldn't fight Leviathan. But I was tired so maybe I missed it....

No, I'm pretty sure you're right. They were talking about wanting to get the swimming portion of the battle into the game, not the entire battle itself.

This game's development is so weird.

Not much is really concrete yet... but they pretend that it is. Or maybe they need people to believe that it is.

It's a Japanese company. Why would there be explicit evidence of this? I said to read between the lines- it's the safe inference.

He spent 6-7 years developing his pet project, which is an insanely long time to be developing something without oversight and milestones, and he was removed from it with very little fanfare. Then he was put on a project, KH3, which is a much more humble game design that we know he can deliver on.

The situation is very much like Matsuno on FFXII. They never came out and said he was having issues with getting he game done, he said "health problems". We all took that to be saving face for an iffy performance getting a game done.

I guess I'm surprised I have to justify it. What I am saying is the general reaction on GAF when we learned that Nomura was off the project.

Do people really think everything was just fine in development, and its just a coincidence that he wasn't headlining the so-called "full development" of XV? It's right there but Square's not going to come out and say it: they lost confidence in him. 6-7 years. It was a bloated, featured-creeped production that was never going to get done under his watch, and they needed Mr. Wolf (Tabata) to come in and clean thugs up.

Final Fantasy 12 took 5 years to make with a full team of developers.

Final Fantasy 15/Versus was in year 7 of production with only 12 or less people working on it.

Just some food for thought.

At this rate is it even going to be possible for this game to be profitable? Can we assume that there will be XV-2, XV-3 like 13 got to cover costs?

I bet it is still there. It may not look exactly like it did on the E3 2013 trailer, but I will eat my shorts if the Leviathan battle won't be jaw dropping.

It is, I just rewatched the ATR, they are just saying that they aren't sure if they could get the part with Noctis floating and looking up at Levi, from the water.

Her lines in the E3 2013 trailer just tear me to pieces ;-;

Hate to rub salt on the wound ,but the finality and desperation in her voice and the actual line itself are all so perfect for the current situation.

The whole of E32013 was too good to be true.

Man that trailer and the unreal hype was just on another level.I doubt I'll experience anything like that ever again in my gaming career.

Such a long awaited game was finally possible ,only to have it all come crashing down a year later.

Now I can't emotionally relate to this project anymore or at least not as much as I used to.

No characters except Stella have been hinted to be removed. All are still there.

I see. Are Noctis, Prompto,Ignis and Gladiolus the confirmed party members? I don't want to play with the same characters all the time, I was hoping for Himefu to be a party member but now is an all male cast :/

The party dynamic hasn't changed since Nomura starting talking about them in 2008. It's still all-male and we don't know if there are going to be additional party members. Guest party members are confirmed, though.

The guys are the main people you will be playing in the game.

Apprently this was a thing since Versus, about a all male party.

We do have guest members, so far only Cor has been confirmed for a guest.

I don't know why they bothered with all this.

We hardly knew anything about Stella, they coud've easily kept her name, kept the same changed model, and gotten away with it all.
