Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

The middle of the map is too small and if you're playing against any team with a sniper they can perch in plain sight and the only way to sneak around them is to paint and swim up the small wall in the middle of the map. And any good sniper will be able to hit you before you're able to do all that.

And that's if there isn't someone already on top of that wall or in that hallway painting. Which is a pretty big if.

It's not a horrible map, but it's definitely the one that has the most limited amount of strategy.

Snipers are a hell of a lot easier to take out on the mall than at the rig imo. You can reach them in just one jump with a roller, whilst on the rig, the only way to take out the snipers is to somehow get on top of the first box without them noticing you're there.

well to be honest I think Port is a pretty awkward map design-wise but it's oh so fun with a charger

my problem with the Mall is the chaotic middle of the of the map where you get stuck in the level geometry half the time and the unreachable sniper nests
The small sniper perches on mall are perfect for vengeance ink strikes.

I never get hit by those, just squid jump to the middle

Now this is a list!

Interesting you like Skatepark so much. I have fun with it in turf wars, but ranked it can go either way. Because Skatepark is so centralized, once a team has it on lockdown for 45 seconds or more, it feels like the match is over. It becomes one of the more frustrating maps. Whereas even a closed in map like Macrel Port, the distance between both capture points allows for more of a come back as the dominating team can't always be everywhere at once and has to split up.

Skate park and the Mall both have the problem of a team dominating and keeping that domination locked down once it happens w/ little hope of coming back (ranked mode that is).

I don't have that problem at all in the skatepark. Aside from the port, the best back-and-forth matches I've had have been on the skatepark. Because of the layout and how easy it is to sneak into the enemy base, lone wolfing it is a very effective strategy, which I love. Stealth also works quite well because of the numerous different routes of attack. Plus, pretty much every weapon can be effective here. Unlike a certain Mall.

Urchin Underpass is literally the definition of your complaint though. The center of that map is a goddamn impenetrable fortress.

use the little ramp on the middle, speed up and jump forward in squid mode. You have now reached enemy base with basically no one noticing you.

All the skate park hate smh

I wasn't feeling it too much on ranked but whenever I'm using a charger or a beacon roller now it's so much fun.

Warning: this game will troll you hardcore. I woke up with 40k in the bank, with plans to spend 30k on the ink resistance boots I had ordered. I checked all my shops and nothing else noteworthy was within. I then bought the boots from Spike. I go back into my shoes shop, and now the boots are listed there! I know for a fact they were not there before, so the game is intentionally trolling me to make me think I just wasted money on Spike instead of just buying from shop.

The shop respawns its inventory exactly at midnight your time, every night. So check it then before buying from Spyke.

Aw hell no, I know I'm not reading people calling the Mall terrible in turf war

1. Saltspray Rig
2. Walleye Warehouse
3. Arowana Mall
4. Port Makerel
5. Urchin Underpass
6.Blackbelly Skatepark

I will say, my dislike for Mall is because I'm only playing ranked currently. When I first started out and was Turf only, I thought Mall was fun enough. Inrersting list you have there.

Seems like people either love or hate Skatepark (or its their least favorite).

New weapon at 7pm PST tonight, so 1 hour from now. Unless you mean something else like maps etc. If so, my bad. I'm sure someone can answer that.

Thank you. I suppose I should start followinv a splatoon reddit to find this new info more easily with a game that will have so much of it

At least port has proper distance between capture points in Ranked. But I can see peoples criticisms of the overall map layout on that one. I do find it problemstic. Thing is, I find Port has more back and forth, and teams have more of a chance of coming back.

There's really no set 'update' times though. They are being sort of 'random' apparently so far. Either follow the official JP twitter of just wait until the in-game announcement (or be lucky and hop into Gaf in a lucky time)

Would it drop that much though?

I don't think its framerate so much as it is trying to superjump for playing with two people. The framerate is halved when playing 1v1, which is noticable having played the normal mode, but is still fun.

I don't know. If you have two people run into the area and go separate ways you could probably get around that pretty easily, right? That;s what all of the crates are there for.

Plus the Rig is big enough to where if people just focus on that back area, they'll still lose because you could paint all of the ground out of range of the sniper, and if the sniper sits on that perch all game the rest of their team is essentially playing man down. All you need on the Mall is one sniper on the perch and one person coming from the hallway at the right time and if you're in the little bowl in the middle of the map, you're essentially a sitting duck for one of them, and you probably won't win in the Mall if you're not able to push through to the other side of that bowl.

It's hard to co-operate like that though. And I'm talking about Splat Zones. I don't find the sniping spots to be particularly troubling in turf wars because there's so much more ground to cover than to just worry about snipers.

So I decided to pick this up. Does this run at 720p or 1080p? Need to know if I should use my 720p TV or 1080p Monitor

I like the design of the mall I just suck at it.

Kind of a side note. But when you are in the rafters and on the outer edges of the level, look over to the side and see the beach or the car parking lot (texture resolutions aren't so hot). But for some reason they remind me of something out of Dreamcast era games.

720p upscaled / 60 FPS

Also my life is complete now that you are getting this. ;)

Oh, Splat Zones is a totally different thing. I haven't even played the Mall in Splat Zones yet, I have no idea what the strategy would be for it. I was just talking about Turf Wars.

For the first time since I bought a Wii U in 2012, my hands hurt from playing too much. And I played a lot of Smash.

Port Mackerel is my favourite map overall, by the way.

Since we know a bunch of people are going to use the inkbrush in half an hour, what weapon would you use to rack up a bunch of kills? :P

Lol, I only noticed because you pointed it out.

So who's winning here?
lol

I bought mine last year, but I've played a lot of DKC:TF and this is the first time my hands hurt as well. I usually take a break when I feel they're really starting to get uncomfortable but it does leave an aftermath of tingly pain.

About how long is the single player campaign in this game?

Around 7 hours if you go through normally, 8~ if you want to explore and collect everything and 5 if you rush through the levels - apparently. I have no idea how long it took me to get through since I weaved in and out from the multiplayer.

Also surprised at mall hate. I have yet to play against a team of really competent chargers but I love it on ranked so far. :|

Just picked up Splatoon. Hyped as fuck to get started. Not sure if I'm going to jump right into multiplayer or play a little single player though...

So, does anyone know if there is a place where I can buy a gamepad screen? Mine broke today and sending it to Nintendo will atleast take 1-2 weeks. I saw a video of how to replace it on youtube and it looked easy enough for me to do. Now I only need to get a screen. Help would be much appreciated!

Everyone who isn't wearing a striped beanie in my plaza is failing me.

Give the SP a whirl to get a feel for the controls but to be honest MP is pretty basic to start off with. If you don't feel like you can get kills you can just go around painting the ground and avoiding fights to be super helpful to your team. Some maps are smaller which make this hard but you don't have to do much to be helpful, just paint all the things (walls don't count) and have fun with it.

Like 5 or 6 hours, maybe a little more if you're going for 100% and bad at finding the scrolls.

It's definitely not a primarily single player game, but what's there for single player is actually really good.

Seems a bit generous. Looked more like 3-5 to me.
