Dark Souls III leaked info and screenshots [RUMOR - Better Details Write-Up]

Not quite Halo 4 barn or Assassin's Creed's plane leak level, but still pretty strange and out of nowhere.

A lot of the new features seem interesting. I'm a fan of Dark Souls II, but it didn't really reinvent the franchise. A lot of the additions sound really fresh and franchise-shaking. Any PC delay is BS though, CMON FROM WHADDA WE GOTTA DO

WTF are those in the background?

I don't know what I expected, but this all sounds and looks better than what I had expected. I'm also more than okay with them re-using assets if it's a Majora's Mask-esque situation. (But even then, there seems to be a lot of new stuff in addition to some returning stuff.)

Woah just catching up with this! Screens look awesome, lots of things going through my mind, same as everyone else.

Specific wording makes it sound like an expansion rather than a new game. It can't be BB expansion due to the HUD and shields, so a huge add-on for DkS2?

No, no, no. Dks2 is done. This is Dark Souls 3.

So Dark Souls 3 in 2016 and Bloodborne 2 in 2017? I like the idea of annual Souls games.

I really dont. Im already feeling soul fatigue slowly settling in. Annual souls games...hmmm. i still have nightmares about the way assassins creed ended up as annusl games.

Sorry I'm way behind on the thread, but has anything in the leak confirmed if it will have the smooth animation/movement from dark souls/bloodborne or is it like dark souls 2?

I'd say it depends on who's directing. If it's Miyazaki, then you can bet that gameplay will be smooth. If it's the Dks2 developers, I'm not so sure, seeing how they majorly fucked that up in Dks2.

Yeah they did. I can't imagine Miyazaki would let that happen under his watch but...I can't shake that fear until I see confirmation I guess.

I'm only going to start to worry if this game ends up being bad. I think I'm just about done with Bloodborne now, and Dark Souls II I'm almost done with. If this were to release in late 2016 then I think a year and a half away from the formula is definitely enough for me to not feel fatigued.

I have to agree with some of the other posters, I also have some Souls fatigue. And I even skipped Dark Souls II and absolutely love Bloodborne. Might just permanently skip Dark Souls II then and maybe see if I'm excited to play more Souls by the time 3 comes out.

Well, all you guys with Souls fatigue, the game likely won't come out until late 2016, so we have still more than a year to go...

Well I didn't (re-)play any Souls game, except for DS1 and I don't really feel the fatigue. If you only play one souls type game per year, I don't see a problem with getting burned out.

I'm cool with these games coming out close to each other as long as the quality is on the level of Bloodborne/Dark Souls/Demon's Souls. But to be honest, I'm more looking forward to the Bloodborne DLC than Dark Souls 3 at this point.

I don't have a PS4 yet and skipped the DS2 re-release because of the pricing so I'm aching for more. Everyone talking about Bloodborne just makes it worse. It wont happen but an early 2016 PC release would be glorious.

The main thing about the screenshots that's odd to me is the UI overlay, which looks to be just the Dark Souls original UI. Not that DS2's was very good, either, but Dark Soul's UI was not good enough to justify a return to. I suppose (and hope) they're just using it as a placeholder.

Damn, I didn't expect the game to already be in this state.
The new features sound interesting and I'm loving the screens, some awesome environments and cool monsters in there.

That's it. Gonna start a new character in Bloodborne. Ain't no time for fatigue.

I have almost 200 hours on BB and 100 on DS2 SOTFS in just 3 months lol

This reminded me too much of undead burg, but I haven't compared it side by side so I could be wrong. The other screens still look off, can't point at a particular thing, they just look weird, like a mod of an existing game.

As someone who spent a fair chunk of time in the Undead Burg recently, I can say for sure that whilst this screen is reminiscent of it, this screen is still distinct and unique from it. All the assets are unique much more detailed and the level layout is also completely unique. This would be next to impossible to photoshop together from existing assets, someone had to render this as a complete 3d scene. Realistically I'm more inclined to believe that From Software where the ones to do so rather than some random hoaxer.

It isn't identical to Undead Burg. There are similarities but it isn't Undead Burg or any other place from Dark Souls. If anything it looks like World 1-3 from Demon's Souls.

I need to know what that giant maggot is.

Maybe it's not so much a creature as it is something the sun left behind. As many others have pointed out, it looks as if the sun is melting or "sweating" and leaving this crystalline, black goo behind.

The world of Dark souls is mystical and fantastical, so it's possible that THIS sun actually "travels" across the Earth. At certain points in time, it starts melting again and that's how these weird, big piles of black crystal are made.

I'm ready for the reveal at E3.

Well this is very interesting, I'm not sure how I feel about Dark Souls being continued.

DSII kind of rained on my parade a little because of From connecting it to the first Dark Souls in early interviews by implying Drangleic was essentially the south Pole to Lordran's North Pole or whatever analogy they came up with to say no they aren't the same area, only to have the game contradict all that and imply they are one and the same in not very subtle ways.

I love Dark Souls 2 despite the fact it's floaty, bastardized souls experience, but I resent it for being forced to be tied to Dark Souls in flimsy and kind of lore breaking ways when they should have just done a completely self contained world with no ties to the past.
However, since Bloodborne falls under the same rules of Demon Souls and is never leaving Sony, DS3 will have to be a necessary evil for my Souls fun on PC.

The melting sun screenshot is the most Berserk shit I have ever seen and because of this, screams Miyazaki, which would be pretty awesome if he was coming back to Dark Souls for this installment, DSII could have really used more of his influence.
My first thought is, since they're using the old Dark Souls UI as a placeholder and the character's armor looks like a mix of Demon Souls and Dark, the Bonfire creation stuff and the dragons makes me think perhaps this could be set before the time of Dark Souls.

Also while I understand the instinct to say "Bloodborne DLC" That whole goddamn game is built around not wearing armor or shields, why the hell would they suddenly turn the game into a regular souls game with all that stuff, just through DLC? it doesn't make any sense.

I'm also glad they seem to be using the Bloodborne engine, the lighting is back to being the way it should be after being completely fucking broken in DSII, and since the movement and animation is smooth and precise in BB like it use to be in Dark Souls, it hopefully means we won't get floaty animations and lazy hitboxes with a parry system that doesn't work the way it should.
