Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

I wish the Inkbrush had Bubble as its Special, and Burst Bomb as is Sub.

Seriously these load outs make no sense sometimes.

Nope nope nope.

I hope they do roll out variants of the initial brush (though I'm at a loss to what it could be paired with that would take it into "this is fucking incredible" tier), but the current load out actually does a lot of work you wouldn't expect it to until you play with it.

They'll add variations, no doubt, as part of the content roll out over the summer. They seem to be adding something every week and variations on weapons is an easy one.

Also, is it me, or are they actually giving Cali and Mari new dialogue with time?

Splattershot Pro is like someone at EAD heard me say exactly the type of load out I would want the second they announced weapon sets. I've been consistently doing well since I bought it and I will probably not switch anytime soon.

.52 Gal Deco is a nice alternative offensive weapon for us Splattershot and Aerospray guys who don't want to deviate too much from what makes rapid fire weapons so satisfying.

You probably won't score as many points, but the greater damage and range are a breath of fresh air. The seeker is fucking badass, too. I toss it randomly whenever I can and I get a shocking amount of kills.

I'm going to try out the brush.

Get up high and mash buttons lol. It drops a surprisingly wide load of paint when wiggled and it drops without too wide and arc letting you massively coat spots without leaving gaps. Basically its a running weapon thats fast, good for dropping shit on inkling noggins, and run and fun melee. In and out and it lays down HUGE fast lane trails for your team to push into enemy territory with.

Brush is amazing.

The Inkbrush feels like it's supposed to be a support weapon, mostly made to help lay ink trails and to cover a lot of the terrain. If you must engage in combat it works best to use stealth to surprise or get behind opponents.

With that in mind it makes perfect sense to me that the sub and special helps out with those support aspects, instead of adding things that encourages offensive play (which the weapon is not made for).

Oh my, first time I find someone from GAF on ranked! I'm playing with a broken gamepad screen, Vivi. so if I suck it's all because of that and not because of my play! (Actually I'm playing horribly and can't shift blame on the pad)

I wish Inkbrush had a special that increased your speed four times and made you swing two times faster.

The only thing I would really want from a balance update for the inkbrush would be for its complete animation to be a hit box (that Eitka video was really enlightening) and for it to do just a tad more damage per swing. Otherwise it's totally fine.

Actually, would using footwear with Ink Resistance be a good thing if you are using a Roller/Inkbrush? You'll almost never be in the enemy ink with those kinds of weapons.

Perhaps Ninja Squid Jump would be a better alternative?

I was initially playing with the idea of both Ninja Jump and Swift Swim, but settled (for now) on Ink Resistance because in my imperfect form, I chew through my ink reserve like no other and often find myself moving through enemy ink trying to recoup. Ink resistance at least allows me to jump out of said ink back into my own line to get more going.

I haven't totally given up on either of those other perks though, especially since Swift Swim is fucking WILD with this weapon.

That feel on Saltspray Rig when you do well and then notice an empty spot to go ink...then see your whole team super jumps there.

"Guys...you...you guys. Guys we can't all be in same place guys. Guys...you know their inking the entire rest of the map guys. Guys stop focusing on the top middle so much...guys...guys all the lanes are changing colors we need to split up. Guys...guyyyyyyyyyys "

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. The hit animation has no hitbox. It's the ink you splash that does.

Been stuck in the hell known as B-/B for ages. You win some, you lose some......FOREVER!!! Still though, the game is still so fresh and I really don't mind losing like I do in other shooters like BF/CoD where the salt grows high with the bullshit that happens. Hell the stages are still fun but F Arowana Mall on Ranked.

Inkbrush melee is Kenshiro mode but it wears your finger out quick lol. I think it's super should've been Barrier which would've been crazy. ATATATATATATATATATA!!!!!!!

And can't wait for this stage to come whenever. Out in the open and not an urban setting seems refreshing!

I need advice...

I don't like blaming teammates or other x factors for losing. But I swear, sometimes I get into ranked matches, and I feel like I'm the ONLY person that is trying to capture a point. I'll have a team standing around not capturing a point when they need to be.

I have no idea what to do in these cases. I feel like I'm single handedly capturing point myself. I understand that, fighting the enemy team is important to pushing them back, and then capturing the point. But half of the enemy team will die, and they still don't capture.

Man. I would pay to have the sidescrolling 8-bit shooter from the cut content to replace squid jump:

Hopefully that'll be included in the future updates.

I cannot get it to work for me. I love the extra range, but the ink use is so horrible that you can't coat much of anything before it drains and the extra damage doesn't help out in combat much since the fire rate is lower.

I like the idea of a longer range splattershot a lot, but I can't stand using it. The only scenario I can imagine it working in is if you ignore the map and just save your ink for killing enemies, but the pro isn't that much better for combat that it would pay off.

Yeah, I got lucky with ink conserve and ink refill perks, but I was doing well while simultaneously dealing with those same problems before I started using them.

It really is made for defense on splat zones, which not many people think about, which I guess is why I do so good.

Fuckin finally. I just killed all 4 people on the enemy team with my NZAP, and my team finally captured the damn point. And we won.

You guys are right Echolocator, is incredible. Like, holy hell. I'm just wondering now, if I should go to Dual Squelcher. I'm in a 3 in a row winning streak, and I'm really starting to love NZAP. Quite a bit, actually.

I manage to score 1821 in a single match.

Wow! My highest is ~1500, but that was because my team was losing badly, and I got behind enemy lines, inking like crazy with no one bothering to stop me. I almost get higher (unadjusted) scores in losing games, since there continually is more territory ready to be painted over.

i think I'm starting to get the hang of it. Won a few Turf Wars and Ranked matches with it last night.

Yup, also:

Where does Splatoon fit into this? Don't hide the fact that you dwell here with the Wii U crew! :P

EDIT: I'm an idiot.

For a second I thought I had posted that in this thread and you were pointing that out. Muahaha.

You are right, I'm Splatoon for life. It's my addiction. Wii U crew loyalty >>>

I'll edit that post so that it's more accurate. :D

That feel when you're 1st in turf war with the ink brush.

What's your strategy if you don't mind sharing?

I played five or six games with it, with my wife watching, both of us taking mental notes of what was effective, and what wasn't.

After those matches, both my wife and I thought it was basically an inferior roller; covers less area in "hold down the button" mode, and melee does a lot less damage. I noticed in every game I played, even after switching weapons, that most people had "given up" on it already. And when someone was using it, they were bottom of the team.

So curious to hear from someone who is good with it!

That was an accident, no idea why that was posted there. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll edit it out now. Wow. have no idea how this got posted here? Wtf.

Wait I'm confused, I just clicked your quote, and that is in the Forza thread. So I did post it in the right thread?

Nah, I just found it funny you mentioned that you playing more on PC/PS4 more, but didnt mention the Wii U like you are ashamed! :P

As a Dual Squelcher user, it's pretty great. Long range, very accurate but uses ink kinda quick, okayish coverage and isn't as hard hitting as some of the bigger guns. Still though, you can keep most guns and even some chargers at bay with it's accuracy. Echolocator as the Super is great since you can flank them from far away when they're hiding in ink and think you can't see them.

Quick tip: only use the painting mode (holding inking button down) to quickly get around in enemy ink. Otherwise it's all about mashing that ZR.
