Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

I've never understood why people care so much about crowds in racers. I would remove every single human character from them if I could, save for drivers.

Eh, depends on the location and context.

It makes a lot of sense for FH2 to have crowds as you're driving around during a massive music festival. It would be a bit weird if it was completely empty and would somewhat ruin the atmosphere. For a circuit racer like Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo I think crowds are unimportant. In the case of FM5 leaving the crowds out entirely probably would have been better in the long run.

Games *should* run at 50fps these days. It's less taxing and is a supported display refresh rate. If you can't hit 60 design and run in 50.

I would also completely remove the festival stuff from Horizon, so don't listen to me, I guess :p

All in favor of getting FordGTGuy's name changed to LamboLover2015 say "I".

Does Turn10 work closely with Playground Games on non-Horizon games as well? I really hope some of this talent from Horizon 2 artists trickled down into Motorsport 6. I can't wait to see sunsets in that game.

The real question is how does the Ford GT get on stage?

R8 was behind the wall.

P1 came from under the stage.

Ford GT............the sky????????

I personally want to see Dan drive it in Dukes of Hazard style by launching over the first few rows.

Dan will shake it out from his magnificent beard.

The hell are 3D puddles
Do I drive in them and my car just falls into a portal to another dimension?

Just abit of PR hype i suppose. Probably means you don't wanna drive in a puddle, like real life. Since it'd mess with your drive handling or cause you to skid and loose grip. The 3D is just a buzz word. HaHa! Crazy PR.

Holy shit, this is way more than I expected to see. I'm so hyped to see more of this now.

Rain and night races are way more than you expected? I mean, don't get me wrong; I'm happy to see these confirmed, but they were pretty much to be expected.

IIRC, last year while they were promoting Horizon 2, they mentioned that they have a shared source repository, so all the work from both developers is shared with the other.

No because unlike other games Forza has always been 60fps with no compromises. So if they couldn't get there it wouldn't be in.

Crazy hyped for F6! Gonna be great to get back with the 2O4F gang!

Lord help me if I have to choose between LE Forza/Halo 5/Tomb Raider XBONES though. Couldn't do it…

Hope some of the music in Forza 6 is like what it was in FM3 and FM2 instead of this overly classical approach they had in FM5, anyone feel the same?

Its largely accepted that environmental details are nonessential to racing games as you don't observe them in a high enough capacity when speeding around the tracks, however, some developers over-compromise and cut corners in a way that makes it stand out. At worst it can spoil the suspension of disbelief and can really detract from replays and photo mode.

Eh, as far as I know racing games with weather so far just used textures and shaders on flat geometry to create puddles and not actually modeled 3D puddles.

Those roads could really use some 3D puddles, they look flat as hell.

Ah, I just assumed previous Forza games (I never played 1-4) had rain and/or night races, and 5 didn't just because it was a launch title.

Not after watching Project CARS do it all with an unstable frame-rate and screen tearing all over the place on Xbone. That humbled my expectations on what we would see in Forza 6.

I wonder what they mean by "destruction/damage"?

They already simulate most parts breaking down and/or being damaged. More visual maybe?

They got Daytona?

I hope this is a sign that the stock cars from 3 and 4 are returning.
According to the article, they got something called "Daytone"

Do-da do-da do-do-do-do do-do-do
Daytoneeeeee!
Daytone! Let's go away
Daytone!
Weh, hey, hee, weh, hey hee

I dont give a shit for rain or night, but 450 cars and 26 locations, coupled with their newer engine is something I did not expect.

car count
practically means that with its dlc, forza 6 will have more than 500 cars.
then the multiplayer apparently also gets a significant jump to 24.

track count
you got RIO resurrected from Forza 1, and coupling this with Turn10's 10th anniversary, makes me wonder if Rio is the only comeback, or maybe we get also back something like Tokyo, which is of course a "famous location"
If they keep all forza 5 tracks (dunno about top gear track after the fuss over there, dont care much about airport track), then with the two tracks declared (Rio, Daytona) location count goes to 19.
so that is SEVEN more locations we dont know about (and that is in the case that neither topgear, airport, alps or any other track leaves the game)

so, pretty much, lots of stuffs

you know, this was not called "attract mode/attract theme" by chance back then.. :D

One of my few issues with FH2 is that the roads are all so silky smooth and unrealistic.

You are now my favourite person. I really loved this game when it came out and this intro got me super hyped for it's release. Also, dat Prodigy track!

One of my all time fave bands making music for one of my all time fave racing series? I loved it.

But isn't that the game's "soul"? Without that isn't it just ...you know...racing? 6.5/10

I'm joking but for real I do not know what being soulless refers to in a racing game. Either it's fun to race or it isnt.

I'm excited to see what this game can do.
