Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

I was just using dual squelcher and some guy activated his bubbler and I kept him out of range by constantly shooting him. And then killed him when it ended. Lol.

I'll just assume you are getting him the Polo then. Been waiting like a fool in Inkopolis for 15 minutes now wearing this ugly Pink Polo.

Going to take off. Thanks again for the adds. Hopefully we can play soon. I really want to play with you guys.

Well trying. If he sees neither of us, then you can try again while I sleep. :D

And everyone who is my friend will play with me even if they don't want to. :D I gotta add soem fun to grinding my gear up and what better way than to infiltrate everyone's games...like Belgian Dude's now. :D

After yesterday going up and down B- I finally made it to B.
And, it feels damn good.

The last game to rank me up I almost wrote off, too.
You usually know when you're outmatched, but man.. my team and I just fucked their shit up for the rest of the game for the win.

Also of note.. I need to stop playing at 3am. Having so much more of an easy time ranking up during the day time. People with English names are so much easier than the Japanese Gods in squid kid form.

Ranked is also good for the cash, considering I've had to re-roll these glasses how many ever times! Come on, Spyke! I need to look Tumblr fresh!

Hehe. I'll bow down to your superiorty. You are the chosen one. The true legend that deserves to get Azure his ugly fish salmon Pink Polo. :)

It's my fault for not understanding how the Inkopolis stuff works. He added me and I just stood around wearing it. Lol I'm such a failure. Can't even do that right! Anyways, hope we can play sometime.

Thanks for the add. I keep dropping back to C+ because I'll get teammates that just don't know what they are doing. I had a match earlier where I killed the entire team by myself, and my team just sat there pushing towards their base...instead of taking over the capture points, which they had control over.

Gah. I am okay with losing when I suck or it's my fault. But it can be so aggravating when you just can't understand why people do the things they do.

Yeah definitely. I dunno how there are people who don't know what they're doing getting to such high levels but they somehow get there, heh.

Also just used the Paintbrush. Love how there's two ways to 'paint' if you want to get into or out of battle. Not being very effective though, but I guess I may have a stroke of luck.

Sigh... no regional MM is probably gonna make me quit this game.

7 pm and I'm already being thrown into games with 8 JP players.

That sucks. I've heard others say this is a major problem. Since this game doesn't have communication, is it lag/latency the problem playing with other regions?

Are you Greg?

Guns can be verry effective on port you just have to adjust your play style to fit.

I use Guns onlly on Port and I always dominate. Rollers def can benefit from the levels lay out, but something like Aero or long range weapons can easily out pole rollers. Not to mention sniper rifles galore!

Of course, nothing like getting killed by a roller you already swam away from 2 seconds later.

and then their name pops up in moon runes.

or shooting your ink in front of you but it doesn't load in for 2 seconds causing you to run into enemy ink and slow down.

Wait you were there? (Got DC'ed 3 seconds till the end though heh) I tried to join you earlier and wasn't able. I really need to pay attention to the names so I can up my game when I see a gaffer

to something at least decent.

Lol, I try harder because I know even if people don't notice me joining games...if they do and I suck, then word will spread that I am crap...
the truth can't come out!

Ah, I'm sorry. For some reason I haven't had much lag/latency or DC's for that matter. I have no idea why experiences are so varied. I have a friend that lives locally and he gets lag/DC at a much higher rate than me.

Are you using an Ethernet dongle? I guess that wouldn't have anything to do with regiononal stuff. Bleh. I really hope they patch this in. Would suck to lose players because of these issues.

I get matched up with all japanese players about 80% of the time I'm not playing with GAF. I don't really mind it though, they don't seem to lag for me any worse than the users with English names. In fact, I feel like I get more disconnections in all US/EU rooms in comparison to the JP ones. Plus, I love seeing the pretty unique playstyles that a lot of the Japanese players seem to have. Just today I played against a Tentatek splattershot JP player that absolutely killed it every round with 15+ kills. I couldn't seem to do anything to counter him at all.

except when those roller are hiding in that big pool of ink and you know they are there and they know you have to go there anyway

I get some lag and DCs, but it ain't as bad as Halo: The Master Bug Collection was, so I don't pay any notice to it.

Once I played that, any online experience after has been amazing. :P

Disconnected guess I'm done for now, connection has been terrible, was that a full gaf room wanna know to see if I should add those I didn't have

I'm wired, yes. It's only vs JP do I notice it the most, can also generally tell when someone is from EU.

Dying around corners and other server/client latency issues are very common when playing against people 6000 miles away, no matter the netcode.

I got killed by a charger I was on a platformer above and then he swam through my ink like it was nothing.

If you know they are in a big pool of ink, you can used range weapons to cover that ink which will force them out. It's possible your teammates are also failing you, which makes this even harder on you. Maybe try Bubbler? Pop it and take them on.

I can understand your frustration though. I don't have issues on Port, but I can't stand Mall or Skatepark in Ranked.

Sounds awful. That shouldn't be your experience. :(

I just don't get the inconsistency with their matchmaking issues (whether that is DCs, lag, matching out of regions, or poor rank pairing). It's clearly an issue as others have said the same thing.

Hopefully they patch it, or do something to improve things. Would suck to lose players like yourself over this.

Any tips for getting into the swing of things using motion controls? I've made the jump from regular aiming, but I'm finding it a bit disorientating, I think.

I kind of feel like my aim with, or without it, isn't really all that good, so I end up sticking with the roller most of the time.

I got killed by a charger I was currently on a platformer above and then he swam through my ink like it was nothing.

Oh, the ones where you are just walking, then suddenly the floor is covered with their ink are the worst!

You know those times in Horror Movies where the person is running a bath or sink and the water turns to ooze or blood? That's how it feels. :P

Others will give you better advice on how to get used to it.

But fiddle with the camera sensitivity options. See what the sweetspot is for you.

GGs everyone.

That Walleye Warehouse match we were in (2 hours earlier) was really nice.

Greg is Saint Gregory on GAF.

When I kept seeing Greg mentioned here, I thought you guys meant Greg Miller!

For what it's worth, my girlfriend and I have sunk a combined 40 hours into this game thusfar (I am disgusted, haha), and we have had a total of five disconnects. I could not be more impressed with the netcode of this game, and I am routinely playing five or more Japanese players at a given time. I am in Delaware with 50 mbps internet.

EDIT: New page, (50 ppp scrub here! Add me to your friendslists NNID: jondgc)

Based on my experience, I am convinced that any lag anyone sees is self-inflicted. I have seen two instances of "lagged paint", ever. I've had a grand total of one disconnect (albeit, a few "partner device" errors when first entering the lobby). I've played literally dozens of hours online. I am level 20 and B rank. I play with everything from all english to all japanese names. I use wifi, a wireless .11n connection via an apple airport express.

I am not exaggerating anything here. Everything has been perfectly smooth and virtually lag/disconnect free. I rarely even see other people disconnect. I can recall three "zeros" on my team in the past week. So, either GAF somehow has the worst internet in the world for this game, or it's just self-selection (people with connection problems tend to post more than those without), although I see the same people repeatedly complain.

Yeah, my experience with lag and DC has been fairly minimal save for a couple moments of DC/Lag that was hitting everyone at once. I've prob put 60+ hours into this (im really disgusted in myelf!).

Ah, I see I am not the only one with a very positive experience. Thanks for posting this.

Disconnects ain't my problem either, it's mostly the ink not appearing.

-sighs- Fine! -turns Wii U on to add you, then turns it off for the night-

Like I said though, I have a friend that is local and has put in similar amount of time, and he gets a lot more DC/lag. I've of course played games with Japanese players, but haven't had any matches with them that caused lag.

Matchmaking just seems wildly inconsistent from each player to the next. I do have really great internet and am hard wired. But that doesn't seem to matter as others are as well, and have issues. All this said, I know nothing about how server stuff works. And we are only piecing this together based on what various people have said.

In general you guys, have you had a lot of DC's, lag, or issues with regional matchmaking?

Suddenly Blasters everywhere in ranked. The blast radius is inkredible sometimes. No escape around corners.

Doesn't help that Urchin Underpass is oh so bad for range.
