Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

After hitting rank 10 last night, I'm starting to work my way through the single player + Amiibo challenges. Whoever thought of putting a wall to climb with a roller is a sadistic monster.

I found one jump pad that let me skip a wall with a cleaner, but couldn't find another one to help out later on.

Yeah I think I'm basically still playing like it's the Aerospray. I'm not used to using a weapon with that much range
Haha, yeah they don't play the same. It takes a while to get used to playing differently and I still try and use it like an SMG way too much.

I like the variety that the weapons offer and how they make you really change up your play style.

God damnit blue! Right before the game ended too...
I'm just laughing reading all of your comments. Sounds like you're having a great time

I'm fucking terrified of trying to get the weapon reskins. No story spoilers but content spoilers:
having to re-beat the final boss with a charger/roller/either time limit or ink gauge limit is going to be painful.

I got my copy of Splatoon today... ended up playing like 6 hours straight...

This game is great

The music for the single player campaign is quite nice too!

So, I've come to the conclusion that I prefer Splat Zones over Turf Wars. I just don't like the execution, the whole ranks system, that you usually get 0 points when you lose and the fact that teammates play an even bigger role than in Turf Wars. Other than that, Ι think it's a lot more strategic, all of the weapons are extremely useful and you can have more intense games as the points are decreasing.

I can't wait for the Tower mode, it seems great too. And I wonder what Rainmaker is.

Finally got a chance to sit down with a friend online and play. It was fun when we were on the team, but that was for only 5 out of 15 games. Lack of team matchmaking is a pretty huge sin. Shouldn't be put into a roulette where I might get to play with a friend (after waiting 3 minutes to get into their game). Been locked in a screen where I have to hard reset the Wii U twice now. Really poor online features to launch with, although at least it works most of the time.

I really wish you could give your inkling pants. I don't care for the booty shorts. They look weird with certain shirts. I'd much prefer if I could give her jeans or something.

I just love teammates who decide to block my shots...

I try to stay out of my team's chargers' way as much as possible but sometimes it's easy to block them, especially when they're usually in a good position to super jump to

I just has a match with one NateDog with their gold aerospray...on the opposing team (I'm assuming there is only is one NateDog...if not lol). I lost but not by much. It was just a messy match for me with laggy rollers (including some horrible play on my part such as letting a Kraken in our base distract me at the end, doesn't need three of us in the spawn zone to take them out...) but I did splat Natedog twice (once in mutually assured destruction and the other time while a team mate was being a human decoy firing off an inkstrike).

Otherwise it was a pretty unmemorable Port Makrel game.

It feels good playing a new Nintendo IP again, for all the variety of weapons and perks they have in this game it feels well balanced. Goes to show how much play testing Nintendo does with its games.

I had no issue with the
charger
against the final boss. Compared to the splattershot some things are harder but others are easier so in the end it balances out especially after you know how the boss works from the campaign.

How the fuck did I get a lobby with a C, two C+, and two A+.

Both of the A+ players were on the other team and I only lost four points for losing, lmao

Nah for Turf War, effectively the 'For Fun' mode, the mixed up teams is fine. What's the problem with having to play against your friends once in a while? We've been having a lot of fun with it in my house.

For Ranked battles, there's going to be the Squad update or whatever they're calling it, which should hopefully allow proper competitive teams to be formed.

I don't want to lose because I'm matched up with randoms. We won all our games together because we're better and we're talking together. Mixed teams should be a choice, not forced on players, so it's not okay.

You won your matches because you had an unfair advantage.

Statistically speaking, people don't lose in the long run because of being mixed with random players. There wouldn't be +25 winning streaks if that was the case.

I really hope they decide to add the ranked modes (splat zones, upcoming tower mode and rain maker) also as regular matches besides turf war. just to play this with/against friends

I just got into B- territory on ranked. =D What should I expect?

-Catching people off guard with good stealth is easy
-People are overly offensive--get behind them and you can easily take control of their territory
-Your teammates will prioritize kills over capping the point
-No one knows how to deal with someone with tower control on skatepark
-No one knows what disruptors do
-Loooooots of Krak-On Rollers

one of the reasons for the mixing is to prevent players of high skill level from getting together and ruining the fun for everyone else

Sounds about right.

What do disruptors do anyways?

I think the best thing I've learned recently is just to avoid corners as a roller in their entirely. Corners are instant death, because if there's someone just around the corner, they will kill you first.

I have this urge to be offensive as soon as the match starts even if I tell myself to chill out and follow someone.

They slow you down almost to walking in enemy ink levels. But more importantly, probably because people don't know what they do, it messes with an opponent's mind, knowing something just made them slow but not knowing what or where it came from. And that's the perfect moment to jump in and ambush them.

Then ranked should have had a team mode from the start or they could have a separate team mode. It's not hard.

There's no defending a lack of party matchmaking guys. It's bullshit.

Disruptors are thrown like grenades and explode on impact. They have a purple, spherical animation (from the perspective of your team) but I think you can't see it as the enemy. If you are struck by one, you have a purple circle around you (I think it's purple anyway).

It basically slows you right down and you can't really jump properly. It might reduce other stats too. It makes you an easy target.

The opponent can see it. It also hinders ink recovery. Supposedly it also tracks the victim like an Echolocator.

One new piece of headgear so up to 49 owned now. That was the only new thing the shops had for me today so I guess I can't hate on the clownfish too much.

You can see the disruption effect on enemies. Even if they swim in ink.

My problem with it is lag makes them really risky because you don't know when or if they will activate. But if you don't have lag problems (I had like one match like this last night) go for it.
