Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

I think I'd like to start playing some GAF matches. Do I just add people's NNIDs?

My NNID is Trufflehound, and my name in game is WonderPup.

When should we expect the next DLC weapon? If I'm not mistaken, the announced modes, stages and weapons are all coming before the August update right?

What are some 'Welcome to Splatoon' fundamentals? Roller is too much fun.

1. Walls don't count.
2. Shoot in a straight line, ink's distance has a hard cap and paints even if you don't aim directly to the floor - you probably noticed this during the single player / earlier matches.
3. Specials refill your ink when used.
4. Echolocator is awesome.

5. don't shot at the floor. the ink goes down anyways.

So THAT'S why I suddenly had full ink after using an Echolocator in a match yesterday. Neat.

Painting the walls like the beautiful artistic snowflake that you are.

Honestly, unless you got the random message from Judd saying they don't count, only way you'd notice is if you looked at your points as you inked them up.
Not true. The rules text in-game for Turf Wars explictly instructs you to ink the ground. Everyone can read these rules at anytime from the lobby.

Alright - got this shit working. Bought a new router just to get Splatoon to work.

Have played for a couple of hours and got to level 8. I clocked the single player last week -was finishing the campaign essential to get the upgrades for multiplayer? Is it safe to assume that everyone else playing online also have all the upgrades unlocked?

If you're not painting then you should be swimming in your own team's ink.

Advice to chargers: Don't try to kill Jet Squelchers on even ground. If they're good, you can't win. Retreat.

I'm pretty sure even the Squiffer outranges Squelchers. You might think that the Squelcher is a anti-charger weapon but chargers can still one-hit kill you when you attack head-on before you even get in range

Shockingly enough I'm starting to think that Blackbelly is my best map for the Inkbrush

And it's such an unfriendly roller level generally

Played a few matches on a friend's Wii U yesterday. What is the deal with the y-axis aiming speed? It's ridiculous how much faster it is than x-axis. Why is there no option to change these settings indelendently? Compared to any decent console shooter this game controls terribly with traditional controls, at least from a first impression.

Motion controls seem a little better but would take some getting used to. I'm guessing that's what most people prefer?

Honestly I was just surprised at how awful the traditional aiming was. I've played dozens of shooters and I thought this type of thing was behind us.

Otherwise the game seems pretty cool, I liked what I saw.

Actually, I was wondering if the seeker travels farther when you have gear with the grenade throw skill equipped. Does anybody have info on that?
I just tested this, as I was curious. The seeker seems to have unlimited range already. It simply drives until it hits a wall or its target.

A note about ninja squid ability: someone here posted yesterday about using it to hide on walls. I have confirmed that ninja squid does not activate when on walls. Enemies can always see you swimming on walls. It only activates on the floor.

New Regular stages: Underpass / Mackerel
New Ranked stages: Blackbelly / Saltspray

any quick tips on using the ink brush effectively? seems like a speedy, limp dick roller at first glance

Only attack people if you're going to ambush them or sneak up on them. Opponents will invariably have an advantage from full frontal assault. Don't stop for anything - only back up your team mates if you're able to stealthily afford it. Choosing an Inkbrush is asking your team mates to do most of the brute work while you go behind the lines and do quick and dirty work. For the most of the part, you'll be wanting them to cover you rather than the opposite. Stop every once in a while on wide surfaces to use your swipe, it covers a pretty good amount of area very quickly. Use the Inkstrike strategically and preferably drop it in an area you're headed towards next. Don't forget about your Sprinkler. If you pass an exceptionally large patch, drop it there and let it do the job while you keep moving.

Basically, don't bother defending your turf - just focus on covering as much as possible and don't let anyone catch you. Float like a butterfly sting like a bee etc.

Also I've found the 'Ink Resistance Up' ability to be kinda unmissable in ranked since there's always enemy ink around the capture point, and being able to move around at nearly full speed on that ink is very helpful. Had to pay to add slots to some kicks with that ability, since the ones that have 3 slots in the store are not my taste. #fresh

I get to pick up some 3-star ones today from Spyke. Expecting a high price.

Is it safe to assume that everyone else playing online also have all the upgrades unlocked?

I'm at level 19-- half way to 20-- and I literally haven't even started the single player yet. I've been in pretty good form too, so I wouldn't say the single player unlocks are essential.

Wait, the campaign unlocks stuff for the online ? Like, more stuff than just weapons ? I've only beat the first world of SP, but didn't felt any differences on online, "status" wise, and the weapon that it unlocked wasn't that great, so i just went back to MP.
Also: guys, this game is AMAZING. I liked it when i played the Beta, but goddammit is even better than i ever thought.

Yes, those blue moto boots are fugly. I bought them anyway to test the ability. I haven't noticed much improvement in practice.

I don't know if it's these maps, but damn is the Ink Brush killing it for me right now in Ranked. Was horrible when I tried it out last night lol.

I'm thinking of jumping in and trying ranked. Blackbelly is probably my favorite map to use the Inkbrush with.

It felt good the last rank battle! We were losing 94-1 then I went and killed all four of the other team with ninja and roller. We took control giving them +80 penalty and we never lose control with me having kraken to protect and ninja to move around them :) Best comeback we had and glad I help achive it!

Are Nintendo gonna raise the level cap? Because this game has been out for over a week and there are 20's in almost every match.
