Firstly, fuck damn that's so cool. Those sick animations, those seek freeze frame shots, I want both a timelapse overhead shot on the results screen and the ability to take freeze frames from replays. BRING THEM TO ME NINTENDO

Anyway, since they're showing off the Brickworks and the Dome here, I wonder if they're rolling them out this weekend - and further, if they're only going to roll them out per splatfest. It would really suck to have maps region locked p/week, even if it'd only be technically a temporary inconvenience.

Yep. Splatfest happens only on certain days. I think the one for English-speaking audiences is... June 20? It lasts for 24 hours. Nighttime in Inkopolis, a musical performance by Callie and Marie, and everyone gets to vote in a poll. Like which do you prefer, cats or dogs. Once you've picked a team, you score points for your team. The matches also take place at night and have special glowing ink. And then after the 24-hour period, the points are tallied up, and members of the winning team get Super Sea Snails, which can get a free slot or re-roll from Spyke.

Or something like that.

The most important thing from this video is the first footage of new maps. They show off 2 that are already in the single player campaign. Then there's a map that takes place in the city between 2 tall buildings.

skatepark also has 3 modes iirc, main (day), night and afternoon iirc. I'd love it if all three modes randomised for all maps... or maybe keep night for splatfests

Actually that guy Spyke can take the snails and add extra perk slots to your clothing or reroll the perk in every slot on a piece of clothing (ex. A shirt with two slots can have 3 slots if you give up snails)

You can use them to add slots to your gear (so some nice shoes that only have 2 slots for example can be upgraded to 3 slots).

Spyke lets you add 1 subperk to a gear not already at the max of 3 subperks for 30,000 or randomize the subperks of one with 3 already unlocked. One snail can fill that entire cost.

I would say 2/3s of the gear in the game are 2 stars or fewer, meaning you need 1 or two snails each to get the full potential out of all the gear in the game.

The maximum number of snails you can earn is 24, if you performed very well and your team (regionwide) won. However, this is halved if your regionwide team loses.

I found them annoying at first then I played the single player and realised they are awesome. They still annoy me with the news but that isn't their fault, more Nintendo with their unskippable tutorial stuff carrying over to information I can find out myself by actually clicking the button to play the mode they talk about.

There'll be a voting booth next to the tower around Splatfest time for you to choose a side; after you vote you'll be given a shirt for the appropriate side. You must have the shirt equipped in order to play Splatfest, which replaces both the Ranked and Unranked playlists for the duration of the event. This also means you won't have the ability to take the perks on your current shirt into Splatfest.
