Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

run a download or two while you play
gyro controls, I use Damage Up on my gear to get a better chance for a kill with half-charged shots (presumably)*, when you see Red or Heng coming for you start running in the opposite direction
*imo it's very important to know how much you have to charge your shots to kill someone

I get that from everyone, my connection is baaad
I tried playing charger today but my teammates thought jumping in front of me was a good idea. Have you tried the 3k liter? I think it has potential since you only have to charge it 60% to get the kill without attack power stats but it uses too much ink. I love the range on that thing though, I get easy kills off of chargers who aren't expecting the range.

To add to this, you want to know when to stay on a sniping perch and when to be mobile. Chargers are great at making roads to quickly travel on. Using subweapons is also great to learn. I can't tell you how many times my bombs have saved me. Speaking of, I'm not sure if you intentionally did it that one time or not, but learning to drop a bomb so that it can detonate ASAP is a useful skill when you have rapid fire or roller users on your butt. This is especially true if you're trying to invade their base or trying to take back the middle.

Interesting, I feel like I go full charge or none (if someone is close, I kind of freak out and start spamming shoot) so I'll have to work on a half charge.

Also have to be more careful around those short range monsters D:

And throttle my connection.

On a side note, I think that JPN player's load out is actually a bit sub-optimal versus the one I hodge podged together. I actually used the exact gear (albeit with varying numbers of proper sub abilities) for the latter matches we played tonight (Tentatek Fake Contacts, Splash Mob Shrimp Pink Polo, Krak On Red Hi Tops) and found that the loss of Ink Saver Main as a primary ability and the multiple Ink Saver Subs that came with my previous hat (Firefin Jungle Hat) hindered my ability to coat wide areas of stage or use Sprinkler's liberally. What's more, as a result of that, I wasn't able to build meter efficiently (got killed a lot before I had Inkstrikes available) and thus the benefits of the Special Charge Up were moot.

While I'm in theory mode, as a brush, what's the first objective I should aim to complete from the moment the round begins on Blackbelly? It feels like there's a road block or moment of hesitation I have when I'm going in (usually the first person to the main area around the inclined tower) as I see enemy fire and realize that I'm pretty much fucked without a second means around the incoming forces and double back to come around only to get caught in the middle of the skirmishes that develop.

Should I only paint as far as I can for my team to get a comfortable way in then come through the back right? Or is there a way I can keep pressing forward without fearing a scuffle?

You're not rocking Ink Recovery up? I feel it help for both main and sub. Also have defense up for those close up battles. I don't worry that much about sub saver because you can only have one sprinkler out at a time, and I build ink back up pretty quickly anyway.

On Blackbelly I head straight for the middle splatdashing and use a sprinkler for one zone, brush for the other.

3K is actually really fun to use. Burst Bombs are really great when you need to quickly get up walls and they're pretty decent at killing if you aim them. I agree about both the range and ink consumption. At the very least, it made dueling your blaster really fun.

I hope Nintendo announces that Wii U friends list limits have been increased to 1000 or something this E3, juggling names around sucks. I love all of you folks but my list is at max capacity of active users.

Hmm, I'll have to try some other things then and get these blasted contacts rerolled yet again, but I'll keep all this in mind.

I guess the latter part of the post also means I just need to git gud(er).

Winning streak in ranked cut short by 2 communication errors in a row. Fuck.

Got hit with a few communication errors on my end too. Looks like there's a thunderstorm fucking with the internet here in Brooklyn tonight. I'm wired but it doesn't seem to help things much.

What do you think of its charging time? Even at 60, it feels like the kelp charger can get to 100% faster. Also what perks do you run with the 3k?

Thanks for the tips. Yeah, knowing when and where to move to remain safe but aggressive is tough.

Yes, dropping bombs right near myself is a tactic I am working on :). Seems like a nice way to keep people away and get some kills.

there's no haters here, but anyway

Was definitely sarcasm :) ... I felt like I was getting crushed mostly, and not because of lag.
Just keep at it and know that you might have some really off hours/days. One thing I will say is that if you allowed a short range rapid fire or roller near you, you are most likely going to get splatted. I've had the most success staying away from their range. This is also where bombs come in handy. Just ask Heng. =D

One thing that is infuriating in gaf games is getting killed by 'nades or mines left by people, it's like playing CoD Matyrs or some shit. The worst part is expect it all the time and still die to them

I'm not a fan of the charging time. It's a bit too long for me. Every time I go back to the vanilla Splat Charger from the 3K, it feels like I'm using a Squiffer. I usually run Ink Saver Main, Damage Up, and Ink Resistance on all of my Charger sets usually. They even have some Bomb Throw Up sub perks. =D But it's great when facing all of the other Chargers. At least, when you're on a roll.
I want a heal faster while submerged ability

YES! Especially when it feels like you've been damaged forever.

I'm going to practice it and see where it gets me. And also, learn to stay still. I hate chasing you around.

it seems Blue is our resident expert for the E-Liter 3k. I think It's pretty great against other snipers but it charges so damn slow. I can't really say if it's as suited for close range twitch reflex sniping as the Kelp Charger, I should probably test it again sometimes. As someone who used the Squiffer for the longest time, close range sniping is kind of my thing (if I don't suck horribly, that is)

depending on how much I like the sub/special weapons of the custom E-Liter, I might switch
You laugh but I played poorly today. I really do need practice
remind me to not play against you on your "good" days

He really did play poorly today. He's usually the king of the Blackbelly Tower.

Also, there's a custom E-Liter coming out? =D

Ranked battles are a chore. I'm B- now and for every win I get into several teams loosing. Often with n00bz which think they're still in turf wars -_-
Made it twice almost to B, but then again I was thrown into dumbass teams again or there was a connection error which nets me -10 as well. THANKS Nintendo. I'm kind of stuck and this is starting to frustrate me. I'm Lvl20 and almost top-notch in turf wars as well as in ranked WHEN my team is playing accordingly. Anyone else with this?

don't worry, if they're losing too, they'll rank themselves out of b- faster than you

law of averages claw your way out of b purgatory!

Splat zones really feels like an afterthought. It just doesn't work nearly as well with the weapons and maps available as turf wars does.

This is interesting as many people here have said the exact opposite.

I'm not criticizing you I just think it's interesting that people can form such opposite views about it

Do we have any indication how it sold? I read somewhere that 97% of the initial stock were sold out in Japan, but havent heard anything from the other regions (other tahn me knowing that the Special Edition was sold out everywhere in retail in germany (atleast around my town) Really curious, I can see it selling like 500k until now, but would love to see some rather official numbers...

personally, i kinda feel like the game is actually balanced around splat zones... or would be if crazy king was in effect, since locking down the fucking mall is a piece of piss

seriously the aerospray and splatter jnr is 2gud in turf wars and the charger classes all kinda wither there...

Turf wars is far less dynamic, especially on B and A rankings, and high power weapons have a much larger advantage there. That's why I find myself enjoying it less.

btw I thought it was really nice of Heng to move towards a superjumping teammate with the bubble and shielding them while I had my aim on the jump marker. So caring

The Chargers can have a really bad time racking up points on Turf War. The E-Liter is especially bad and I suspect there might be some kind of point multiplier for each weapon because of that. Where I would get 600-900 raw points on the Vanilla Splat Charger, I would get 300-500 raw points on the E-Liter. =/

When did this happen?

I don't think so, I frequently topped the score board today with the charger. It help to spam the Sprinkler, of course
Who's using the Squiffer in here? I think it's pretty fun.
Kelp Charger with Damage Up does the exact same job but has better range
When did this happen?
one of the last matches I played, on Warehouse. I mean, I think it was Heng

I believe it did ~150k in Japan first week, but that's all we know. I guess you can also say it has not hit 1m yet since Nintendo always does PR when a game breaks 1m early.

Basically, just wait for NPD's.

I'll assume you mean Splat Zones, but I disagree. Splat Zones is much more fast paced and focused than turf wars. Because the objective is restricted to only 1 or 2 set places in the map, players are constantly forced to meet each other head to head which promotes better teamwork and more creative strategies.

While I do think high power weapons are more useful in Splat Zones than Turf Wars, I don't think that players using weaker weapons are at a disadvantage. Weaker guns are able to ink territory faster and therefore are the best at creating more room to let your team move around easily. This also lets them use stealth more effectively which leads to easy kills. Plus low power weapons can ink the zone(s) faster meaning you can realistically ignore a high power opponent (so long as they're not right in your face) and ink the zone to claim it for yourself before they can get you. This is especially useful on 2-zone maps in which, if the opponents have pushed up and taken our zone, I can slip behind them and take their zone before they even realize what's happened.
