The Guardian: The Last Guardian will be at E3

IF this game is getting announced for PS4 at E3, I'm kind of hoping they don't just do a "One last thing..." and then a trailer for The Last Guardian plays.

I think you go P.T. style with this one. In the middle of the conference, maybe right after the indie portion, you end that section with an announcement that this cool little first-person indie title is available to download for free now on PSN. Its actually a playable prologue where you explore part of the temple from TLG. At the end you get a reveal trailer and release date.

So you think they should throw even more money into The Last Guardian money pit for the sake of hyping up a segment of consumers that are already at maximum hype?

Kagari also said this could be the best E3 conference for Sony since 2009.

2009 was the year TLG was first unveiled.

I fail to see how Sony could have anything less than a satisfactory E3 this year.

Quoting myself from another thread...

It's occurred to me these past few hours that, considering the breadth of what Sony could feasibly show, two hours might not even be enough time for them this year.

Uncharted 4
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
VR demonstration zzzzz
Tearaway Unfolded
MediaMolecule's PS4 game
Street Fighter V
ABZU
Ratchet & Clank
#BuildingTheList
Level 5 PS4 game
Destiny expansion pack zzzzzzzz
Gran Turismo 7
Sony Bend
Batman: Arkham Knight
Two minutes of Vita time
Obligatory indie game montage
Gravity Rush: Remastered/2
Call of Duty: Black Ops zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Persona 5
Until Dawn
RiME
Horizon
The Last Guardian

If they can pack all that into two hours, I would never complain about overlong conferences ever again. Not unless VR gets a 30 minute slot and they blaze through all the good stuff, in which case go chuff yourselves Sony.

There's just so much they can potentially give stage time to. Cross off Hellblade, Ratchet & Clank and ABZU because they all got spotlight today in some form or another, but that would still make for a (mostly) great showing.

That is so bizarre. COD is such a huge franchise that leans towards MS, I'm surprised they didn't even challenge SONY for it. Either that, or MS is redoubling its efforts on Halo or other "surprises".

I think it's a case of Sony knowing they have the larger install base, and a lot of gamers will typically pick up whichever console their friends already own to play big games like CoD together on. They'll want to keep that lead. Combined with Microsoft obviously wanting to push their first party shooter this fall, and convince people to spend their time and money on Halo instead of CoD.

Sony have a good chance if they can leverage third party for this year, and unveil a lot of first party games like TLG for next year.

I fail to see how Sony could have anything less than a satisfactory E3 this year.

Also God of War, Quantic Dream's game, and potentially Guerilla's new IP. They have loads in store, just no more big exclusives for this year. I don't think that's going to be a problem if they can convince people that PS4 is the console they want this holiday given everything on the horizon.

EDIT: Holy shit I just Googled Horizon to see what you guys were talking about. How did I miss that leak!? Holy shit that concept looks amazing.

I don't think it'd be that huge of a deal from MS's viewpoint. We saw with Battlefield, it had Sony marketing for ages, and then BF4 came out with MS marketing, and it was still heavily PS skewed, both new gen and old gen. I imagine CoD is going to be even more-so Xbox skewed, as it's even more connected with that brand.

Pretty sure every COD has sold more worldwide on PS4 then xbox this gen...that is changing. That will only grow this gen as the install base gap widens.,

you forgot no mans sky.....that game will be at every conference till fricken launch.

I've got the feeling Sony's E3 2015 is a preview to the lineup of 2016. Remember when Uncharted 2 was first shown on stage? I have NOT seen an equivalent of that magnitude till this day.

I thought it's confirmed to be a temporary PS exclusive?

I mean, a lot of that could also be planned for Paris. They are certainly gonna hold on to some announcements if they plan to have a Press Conference there.

Still think yosp will come out and shoot this down if it's not happening. Like I said numerous times, it actually hurts them to NOT say anything. The game is nothing but bad PR, and people being let down when it's not there, just continues it to have a negative impact. So jumping out in front (like they did last year), is the best option for them.

So if he doesn't say anything before then, well damn.

they are pretty much treating it like a first party.....the indie group has had a 10 minute showing at almost every conference so far.....PSX was an especially long one.

Does Sony typically deny it will be at E3? Or is that just when there is a rumor that the game gets cancelled?

They came out and told people ahead of time it wouldn't be there last year. Before that? I don't recall. Prob not. But as I said, at this point, Last Guardian does more damage when people think it's going to happen, and it doesn't.

I really hope they understand by now, that they need to shoot it down prior if it's not really going to be there. But who knows.

After searching via like five different keywords, I didn't find anything about this in the thread.
Jeff Gerstmann (of Giant Bomb) wrote this in an answer to a question about TLG on his Tumblr:
blazehedgehog asked:Jeff, do you have any hot scoops on The Last Guardian?
Depending on who you talk to, it sounds like it could have been revealed last year. So I think some of the people claiming it’ll be there this year are probably making an educated guess. I tend to agree that it could show up at E3, but there’s still TGS and GamesCom.

I also think that if, for whatever reason, it doesn’t make an appearance sometime during this calendar year, then it’s never happening. They’ve had enough time to recover from whatever happened to it years ago and move it to PS4. They either need to wrap it up and ship it or drop it and move on. It’s counter-productive to have this thing sitting in limbo, poisoning every interview they do around a big trade show.

They should announce it at the press conference and put it on sale, right then and there. Just say “we know you wouldn’t believe us if we told you, so instead you can buy the game… right now.”
I dunno if this adds anything super substantial, but it's always fun to fan the flames of hype, so I thought I'd post it. :)

Sony first party title to go multiplatform?

Galaxies would explode.

Yeah, not gunna happen. The only time something similar has ever happened that I can recall, is MS Studio's Mass Effect included in the trilogy on PS3. I'm still actually surprised it happened!

I'm surprised Sony hasn't debunked the rumour yet. Friday at the latest, it must be a given after that. Especially considering it's The Guardian who's spreading the info.
