Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

Kelp Dome is pretty cool. I kinda like how sprawling it is with its corners... A lot of the maps (like Urchin Underpass), the main focus is taking down the center of the map. You just get there and defend it. But you can really get some comeback wins by painting to both corners of Kelp Dome and working toward the middle. If you just sit in the middle the whole time, the other team will eventually overwhelm you. The nature of the solid middle column, however, can make it difficult to approach when its been taken over.

There seems to be a constant push-pull between the middle and the corners.

Does "seems legit" qualify as a meme?

lol. Marie's the best.

The final boss was real tough. Wish the single player was longer has a TON of potential. It was actually fun to play through. EAD wizards deliver once again.

I'll remix your face! Also credits track is so good

I definitely agree with the poster who wanted the single player to be longer. Now to look for all the scrolls!

Also for online, why does everyone skip home base terrain and just try to go mid/take over the ther team's terrain?

Capturing the center of each map early on is crucial to keeping the enemy team locked out of your territory. Ideally you rush to the center, cover it in your own ink before the other team arrives, kill them off before they can recapture, and then prevent them from ever moving past that point.

How is kelp dome.

Lady has been playing that new harvest moon vc gme on the pad so it been playing hearthstone instead.

Kelp Dome in a nutshell

Too big

I started using a gimmicky route to the middle in Arowana Mall; shooting the wall to the right of the ramp and then jumping across to it. Charger is great for inking this path but terrible for abusing it, since you can't really attack whilst cresting over the wall. But this strategy at least gets me onto the middle platform safely during the start-game rush.

you sneaky devil

In teh skatepark a lot of people don't seem to realise you can squid straight up the walls next to the splatzone (onto the grates) or the big wall parallel to it. You can get a few easily kills that way.

Its unlike any of the other maps, and I personally really like it. Its like a siege the fort sort of map when playing in Ranked.

Ranked is what I enjoy..

Glad to hear it's different. Will help the game feel bigger. I really want to try it. Going to play lots tmrw night.

yeah I love doing this

there's something satisfying about coming out of squid form off a wall and being able to stand upright in kid form

Just picked up the game, if anyone wants to add me my username is Tunic85. Only have played 30 minutes or so but I am having so much fun. It is an excellent game!

Interested in this game but almost every review I read and watch says its a $40 game, not a $60 game. I can't find a demo for this game, is it true that they got rid of the demo ?

Put 100 hours into the game already. It's definitely a $60 game in my eyes. Of course YMMV. There never was a proper demo but more like a server stress test. You can't use it anymore.

Who is playing right now??

After the map rotation I'll play a couple.

It wasnt a demo, but a beta test, i only paid £31 off the eshop with the 10% discount for downloading the beta, but after playing it for over 30 hours i would have paid £50, especially knowing the additional content coming through the next few months.

HolyBaikal is really happy that SplatoonGAF doesn't mind about adding her NNID into the Spreadsheet. To make it easier, quote to reveal her NNID too! =) ****

Edit: Forgot, Holy is based in US Central!

Looks like Callie & Marie dialogue is almost completely different between Europe and NA. Interesting.

I hate that they have differences between two English speaking countries. Fair enough translating into Spanish, German, Italian etc and all being a bit different because of localisation and translating stuff but c'mon. Oh sorry, I mean "To me!"...

Man I've just been playing the worst games today. I don't know if it's me or my team.

Probably my team because I'm perfect and never make mistakes

Just when I told myself I was going to take a break they put port into rotation. I guess a few more games wouldn't hurt...

I think the main goal is making the English "easy" for Europe since there's many people using that localization while not speaking the language as their mother's tongue. Take something like "willy-nilly" for example. It's not a common phrase at all. I think it's a good localization choice. I've been playing Nintendo games in English before I spoke it so looking it like that I can understand their choice.

I'd hop on right now, but I feel it may be too late at night (10pm EST). Just got back from seeing Jurassic World. I probably should've stayed in to play Splatoon lol.

Also, you have three minutes to make sure the area near your base is covered. In good rooms it's often too dangerous to jump so you can just ink some uninked stuff as you make your way back to the action on foot (tentacle?).

I just played a match with six disconnections all with 0 points (except for 300 for winning), leaving just one player per 'team'. I won at least!

I scored higher than anyone else in the match even with the other team's 300 point bonus, helped shield teammates ...and my team lost by .2 percentage points. :(

Oh man I just had a turf war where the last full minute was just our team killing everyone on the opposing team any time they tried to leave their spawn point. One poor guy had 0 kills and 8 deaths

Yea, I haven't seen many people use that.

A similar thing I haven't seen many people use is this:
tumblr_npt6bc82Js1ux7li8o1_1280.jpg

You can get to the top part directly and more quickly compared to every other path to top. Shooters and especially Chargers can use that easily.

Also, for people who don't know, you can press the jump button get a bit more height when going up walls, so you don't have to shoot all the way to the edge of the top of a wall you want to climb.

A story of my 10 match attempts today:
1. Unremarkable match.
2. Failed to find 8 players during matchmaking, timed out.
3. Six players disconnected leaving just me and one other player.
4. One worked right! Lost by .2 points.
5. Got disconnected.
6. Got horrible lag, a few players got disconnected including me.
7. Worked fine.
8. Horrible lag, got disconnected.
9. Started 3 vs 4, more disconnections.
10. Started thinking I was finally having a good match...nope, disconnected.

This is pretty typical for me lately, each time I played Splatoon over the past week it hasn't been fun.

I believe Cap'n Cuttlefish mentions that you can climb faster using the jump button. I always spam the jump button when ascending, and it definitely feels faster.

I saw a charger do that online the other day. Real pro strats.

Yay. Hit level 20 finally.

Aerospray and Kelp Dome helped that last level go pretty quickly.

Yeah, this game totally lacks content. I mean, I've only gotten 60 hours out of it in ten days. What a rip off!
