Steam Summer Sale 2015 thread of refunding everything you buy (June 11-21)

My first Steam sale, and I love it! Yesterday wasn't that interesting for me, but today I've bought four games. Portal 2, Wolfenstein: TOB, Crysis 2 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown Complete Pack. They're all Daily/Flash sale and I haven't played them before, so I figured "why not?".

I agree with this. Also, it doesn't seem to go on sale that very often so at 15 dollars even I'm considering on buying it again
for the good home thread.

Oh yeah. I got me

that i have on a disc somewhere just cause i had such a blast playing TOB and TNO.

Its defo a must have for anyone who likes these types of games.

Picked up This War of Mine and played a little. Liking it quite a bit!

Kind of debating picking up a lego game. The only one I ever played and enjoyed was the first star wars one, so I'm considering either picking up a star wars one for myself or the harry potter one to play co-op with my girlfriend, considering harry potter is the only franchise there that she cares about.

Huh, for some reason Ziggurat went up in price today, from %70-off to %50-off. Hopefully it becomes a daily/flash so I can get it at it's original sale price.
It was in the first set of flash sales which expired today when the new dailies were added.

Sigh. Already $30 in one day. I need to be really careful. This War of Mine, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Valkyria Chronicles, Witcher 1 & 2, and KoF 13.

...that's six great games for 30 bucks though holy shit.

I WANT to get Wolfenstein, but I've already played through it on my Xbox One via Gamefly. I'd prolly snap at 10, but now I'm just thinking I'll hold off.

you're going to be repeating that two-word phrase for the next few days ;).

so whats the best thing to upgrade on the summer sale game?

Auto-fire Cannon, until it lets you start upgrading Advanced Targeting, then do that as much as is fiscally feasible. It's going to do the most work for you. Also, boost your Light Armor up fairly early to level 10 and then get a Heavy Armor. That should keep you alive for a long time (and be sufficient well into the upper levels) as long as your teammates or you occasionally cast heals.

Level up each of the elemental upgrades evenly at least a couple of levels. They're cheap at the lower levels and give decent damage boosts.

If you are around your computer a lot, you may as well level up your Armor Piercing Round to 20 or so (and eventually Explosive Rounds by a few levels) so that you can make some kind of a difference.

You can throw a few levels into Lucky Shot since it's really cheap but I don't think it's worth it to try hard on it.

What about stuff like Metal Detector or lucky charms?
Do they stay active forever or do they only work for a few seconds?

This is my first steam sale and I'm half way through my budget already. I think I finally understand those gifs.

Not yet, one only fully understands steam sales when they try to buy a game they already own. Case in point, was pondering if I should buy the Hitman games but I already own the latest one.

This War of Mine any good? I'm tempted to buy it since it's in the Daily Deals. Havn't read much about it nor have I ever heard of the game before today, but the couple of steam reviews I've read seemed really positive.

Got Mount & Blade Warband, woop. Dunno if there's anything else I should get, Witcher 1 and 2 are tempting though.

This happened to me last night when I was pondering getting Monaco, lol

That's when you know you've made it.

Valiant Hearts calls my name but I'm borderline fanatically opposed to any DRM or clients aside from Steam(works).

if you accept steam, then you've accepted DRM. If you're truly anti DRM then you would only be making purchases on GOG.

So either accept that this DRM thing that doesn't really affect you 99.9% of the time isnt that big of a deal and purchase a really good game or accept that you're being inconsistent with your ethics

Thanks

One-time use items that only work for a few seconds. If you have the cash, they can be nice, but I don't think they're worth it at the lower levels.

Picked up Metro Redux Bundle, Next Car Game it's getting a DX11 update :)

Really... hoping Rodina or Examina get a discount with this sale :)

Thanks

I think Metal Detector is worth getting if you are going to be active in game and others in the game are active. Nothing makes people click faster than the chance to earn money.

A year old and Wolfenstein is still $15.

I know I'm being a certified cheapass, but I'd also hoped it would go lower. Surprised Bethesda still has yet to drop the base price from the $60 it launched at.

(I'm not saying it's not a great game, but when there's a lot of other stuff on my wishlist, I can afford to wait til later in the year, when I'm sure it'll be cheaper.)

That ain't bad it's only a year, try CoD, i want Blops 2 for $10 lowest it's been is $20, game is 3 years old, right now Origin has Battlefield 4 for $10, so tempted..

Activision is absurdly stingy with discounts, especially for CoD. I don't think any of the games have ever been on sale below $9.99.

Geometry Wars 3 is already 50% off ($7.34) at regular sale price. Think I'll grab that if/when it goes to $5. If not, I can wait.

I believe the first Lego HP game on Steam is pretty buggy, so don't get that one.

Its 1 time use and 10,000k
Better off just upgrading weapons and damage, no?

Considering that all the deals are grayed out and plastered with banners saying "In Library" I'm not sure how anyone could possibly make that mistake anymore (I know this wasn't always the case).

This isn't really accurate. They had the base price listed as $40 for a while. They raised it to $60 for the sale so that 50% and 75% off would be $30, and $15 respectively. Sort of a dirty move.

This is an enhanced steam feature, not native to Steam

To state the craziness of a Steam sale. I'm considering buying Hitman Absolution: Elite Edition when I already own the base game, solely for the Sniper Challenge. A game I'm not even sure I will spend much time on, but I still have this thought in my head it's a good deal.

Discounts, they make you think differently.

Edit: Nevermind, I confuse two different things. Ignore what I said then.

Metal Detector doesn't give you gold per clock, Raining Gold does. Metal Detector increases the amount of gold you get from killing the enemies in that lane, I think.

Seriously? Regardless of what price one deems it to be worth, that's horseshit.
