And the NAACP just completely misconstrued the entire debate to make it seem like black people are just getting uppity about a white woman working for their organization, which is exactly how the ignorant are going to take it.

It could be damaging, but when you're in a burning building, the fact that the curtains are catching fire is probably secondary to whatever else is going on in your head at that particular moment. They seemingly ignored completely any kind of 'black people getting uppity about anything', and switched the focus back on to whoever has been harassing Rachel and the NAACP in past years. Because they don't care about Black Twitter outrage, or Huffington Post's disapproving giggles.

I do expect her to quietly resign her post, but the NAACP isn't going to try to seek any relevancy out of this debacle. They want it to go away soon.
