Fallout 4 - Multiple E3 Gameplay Demos, Releasing November 10th, 2015

I will say though, after Witcher 3, I don't think I could go back to non-voiced dialogue in the first person perspective, so kudos for them for stepping up to that.

Yeah. You get Fallout. It's basically shut up and shoot with a lot of blah blah blah

(I like how it starts off all complicated and RPG heavy but basically always resorts to that)

Original Fallouts were proper RPGs. I know, i played them (though honestly tended to prefer "shoot everything" approach, the shitty UI annoyed me).
But Bethesda's Fallouts? Nothing like the originals when it comes to writing. Or their Elder Scrolls games, which are worldbuilding aside a bit meh when it comes to writing.

Which is why i wonder why people are expecting more dialogue stuff from a Bethesda game.

Also, just to get the super nerdy FO lore stuff out of the way: annoyed that they're leaning on Super Mutants and the Brotherhood of Steel, again.

Bethesda. Fallout-Theme Park.
And i'm not even joking. My friend's gonna have an aneurysm or something when he learns about this stuff...

Reckon it is gonna be a fun theme park though.

So I guess the playable character will be referred to as Howard similar to Shepard in Mass Effect.

When Wadsworth said Mr Howard I instantly thought of my high school history teacher. That's not good.

Brotherhood was set under enemy status in at least two examples, so hopefully it's a little less cut and dry.

If it's a rehash of 3 with the Enclave/mutants bad, Brotherhood good, I'm gonna be really depressed.

So I guess the playable character will be referred to as Howard similar to Shepard in Mass Effect.

They said they recorded around 1k common names to fit in there.

I did not ask for this. I do not want this.

Still, when considering Bethesda's strengths and the reason most people like their games, this game seems incredible.

It still makes me unbelievably sad that New Vegas is as close as we will ever get to classic Fallout.

I am going to cry now.

There were XB1 buttons being used but i doubt it was actually from XB1. That was all PC of course.

He said they had 100's of names recorded. His name was "Howard" in the demo because well, Todd Howard is presenting it.

Hmm? Where?

It seems like all I can see is a normal family with normal mom and dad...

I am interested to know because I'd like to play as a psychopath, kekekekekek.

Wouldn't a crazy couple pretend to be normal? There's all sorts of creepy ways we could justify this seemingly normal family being totally nuts for the sake of an evil playthrough.

When does the Witcher 3 do first person anything?

That's what I'm saying. I'm used to Witcher's third-person viewpoint, so I'm happy that they're doing this for dialogue because it makes it feel somehow more personal. It's weird, that taking you out of your character's eyes somehow makes it feel more emotive to me.

still doesn't answer my question regarding sexual preference, seems like that's something the game has decided for us

You start over. You get a new life. In the past games you could go either way. They even had a pure hetero and pure homo perk

[spoIer] I bet your dog goes into cryo with you [/spoiIer]

Also, just to get the super nerdy FO lore stuff out of the way: annoyed that they're leaning on Super Mutants and the Brotherhood of Steel, again.

At first I didn't like it but with how much companionship you've had with supermutants over the games... I guess they wanted to humanize them more

This is like the only next gen third party game that'd make me run and buy a Bone/PS4 (or build a game rig). I hope it turns out incredible.

Yeah...hopefully there won't be endless swathes of raiders and super mutants, but the "your base will be attacked by raiders at night" line kinda killed that for me

I have a mixed feeling about this game. All the gameplay mechanics are basically improvements from FO3 and Vegas. But in story wise, it's a prequel to all the previous Fallout games that has ever been released. I don't like prequels.

disagree, huge step down. limiting dialogue by a lot, i mean look at it, like 3-4 options now? not worth having voiced pc as far as I'm concerned. luckily the rest of the game looks great

There isn't enough nuance in the demonstration for me to get all meh about the game not feeling "Fallout" enough. It was a audience grab for the silly shit. New Vegas Trailers even did the same thing. You don't sell masses by showing the really nuanced fallout backstory and plot. Not anymore.

They didn't talk about how the systems, worked, how skills are used, etc etc. I don't think one should expect New Vegas Quality either. I think a lot of people set themselves up for disappointment.

Are we seriously complaining ALREADY? The game looks fucking awesome.

I have to wonder if some people here actually enjoy videogames more than they do criticizing them at every chance.

We're getting Fallout 4 this year, yet apparently the quality of the animations is a more pressing matter.

Maybe you can play through the whole game with maybe only building a small home in the beginning. The whole building thing could possibly be just a side thing to get more out of the game which you wouldn't be forced to do.

Yeah Todd said on stage it was entirely optional. We can ignore it if we want, but just the idea of them putting that in the game bothers me.

Having a spouse and/or kids doesn't define your sexual preference. I'm not sure if you think this doesn't happen in real life or something but it's not all that rare.

you're right it doesn't and I'm not saying that at all, I'm just saying it's more of a stretch. I guess I just don't like the idea that I'm playing a character with a defined history as opposed to a blank slate

Anyone know of any way to preorder the Pip Boy edition in Canada? Annoyed that if I was in the States I would already have it done.
