Steam Summer Sale 2015 thread of refunding everything you buy (June 11-21)

Short? And they are the original PC versions, not PSP ports. It's hard to find as much value for 10 bucks than that Felghana + Origin combo.

These are not PSP games, I also don't think they are short at all, and they are some of the best games of all time which probably helps a tiny bit.

I can play at native resolution, then?

I might just grab a couple, and wait for the others to go cheap.

Bought Lisa, it was sitting in my wishlist for a while.

Only got 3 games so far, bought a lot of stuff that I wanted in past sales. Just got to get the time to play and beat them.

Bought YS Origin, will get the other YS games later, perhaps in winter sale.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish Origin before that anyway.

Yes, these are PC games. But they are best played with a controller imo.

Anyways, if you don't know which to get, I recommend Ys: The Oath in Felghana as the first game to play of the series.

That's fine. I've a pad here anyway.

Can the story be skipped? I just want good gameplay at the moment.

Westerado: Double Barreled is on my wishlist but I think I'll hold out for when the price is closer to $5. I still haven't purchased anything this sale but I do kind of regret skipping out on Homeworld.

Well, that flash change is disappointing. Like only four titles worth checking out there among a sea of things not worth buying. :/

Thanks for that. Grabbed the FEAR bundle.

Any other sites like Bundlestars or Humble Bundle that I should be checking out?

Decent tier indie bundle sites:
Humble
Bundlestars
Groupees

Meh tier indie bundle sites:
IndieGala

Also worth checking out:
IndieGameStand (one game a week for $1)

That's about the lay of the land right now. There are some other crap bundle sites, but mostly if you're just getting into it, this is what you should be considering for now.

Aw man, was hoping Ys would hit later in the sale, or at least be a low enough percentage to not feel like it'd be a bad idea to skip.

Well, these sales are essentially good for 3l24 hours now, guess I'll sit on it.

Re: Killer is Dead

Editing the .ini file.

Oops yeah. Completely forgot to tack on the "fix" at the end of my last post.
Although you'll have to set the game to 30 fps whenever you date the kimono-wearing girl (or else KiD screws up).

Otherwise the game looks and runs flawlessly.

I second this layout.
humble in general has the highest quality bundles of all the sites, but groupees has a ton of great greenlight bundles as well as some good music bundles from time to time. plus their recent updates to their site are great and now tell you when steam codes have been added to bundles you own, which is important to me with so many bundles owned

i often forget to check bundlestars >.>;

I know the feeling. I have already burned through my $30 of trading card money so now I have to be more picky.

Thanks for the responses. I'll be keeping an eye on those sites for future bundles.

Does the Nuuvem version of the Far Cry 4 season pass work with the Steam version? I've actually never used Uplay or anything through Steam, so I don't know how it works. If it like Origin where you can launch it from either client and you essentially have a copy on each?

But how is its personality?

Well....it has a really pretty personality...?

Remember Me is still worth a play-through, even if its just for the visuals, soundtrack, and story.

Game is...well...mediocre..But at least it's not truly bad. It's not like you'll get stuck on BS fights for hours or any of that other nonsense.

Just passing by to also tell everyone to buy all the Ys games because they are all fantastic (all of the PC versions are great and run on HD on toasters).

Oath in Felghana is a great starting point.
Origins has the most replayability (and poses the hardest challenges on higher difficulties)
Napishtm is rougher around the edges but it's still a fantastic game (and Adol is the most fun to play as in this game).
And Ys I+II are still pretty fun to play. So you can't go wrong with any of these games.

Fans of action RPGs and good music totally need to play this series.

That's good to hear. But, it sounds like an under-5er for me.

I've had these for a long time, gonna start with Oath right this second.

Yeah. It's definitely worth 6 bucks IMO - but the actual gameplay is not its strongest suit.

I'll note one other thing. One of my favorite things to do is buy the greenlight bundles on groupees via preorder.

they are usually $1.25
Groupees/greenlight games get some money
around 50% of the games get green lit
when they are green lit I get steam codes for them.
greenlight games almost always have steam cards.
if you idle and sell the cards near release you can usually get $.50-$1 per greenlight game
in the end I typically make $2 to $3 per greenlight bundle in steam credit (so it's a lot like doubling my money in steam credit and getting a bunch of games for free)

obviously this takes a bit of work, but in general there is a game or two I would buy in a greenlight bundle anyways.

note: don't get fooled into preordering a lot from groupees though, only really the greenlight bundles (if you do above method) and the be mine bundles are typically worth preordering, the rest should in general be taken with a wait and see approach as they aren't that much cheaper via preorder.

So far, so good. This is the first year in forever that I've been so good about not spending tons of cash. Bought two games so far, spent $5 and some change.

What do you guys think the chances are of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance getting cheaper than 50% off?

I have to say this is the first steam sale in a while where I feel very overwhelmed. Haha I keep checking to make sure that I haven't missed anything. Then I'll see some games where at first I am totally not interested in and then I actually look at them and suddenly they're super appealing. It makes me freak out when I think I've missed out on something I know I saw on sale earlier and only suddenly now want!

On another note, I think I'll hold off on buying Civ Beyond Earth until the winter sale and instead I was thinking of picking up Endless Legend. I don't have any of the games in the Amplitude Endless pack and I was wondering if it was worth picking up?
