Steam Summer Sale 2015 thread of refunding everything you buy (June 11-21)

Shit, was hoping Lords of the Fallen and DOA5 would get down to 15 for the sale. Was hoping to buy both. Ah well....Christmas Sale save me!

Kind of want neptunia.

how is devine divinity and divinity 2?

Divine Divinity is a Diablo-clone, only more story/quest heavy. It seems to play well enough, but the genre is overloaded so I could never make time for it.
Fantastic soundtrack though.

Divinity 2 is more action-adventure RPG. It's amusing (especially the expansion) but not particularly great. It's very disjointed, with large chunks of the map getting removed as you progress. The combat is also very poor due to crappy mechanics.

Dug up an old review of the 360 version, most of this stuff still applies.

Are the Neptunia games just nothing but console war memes and stuff? That's always the impression I got.

There are memes and references sure, but they're actually really minimal.

Neptunia 2 is also 70% off

Good day for me, got Killer is Dead and Neptunia 2

Still need to finish off Neptunia 1 but gameplay is solid enough and when I'm in the right mood the dialogue is entertaining so interested enough in 2

do you need to play the entire series to enjoy shadowrun hong kong? im thinking about getting it but i might just play the previous ones and wait with hong kong. how do the earlier games hold up?

How's crusader kings II?

And holy shit, someone has spent 4,200+ hours on that game in the reviews...though my 800+ on civ 5 was really bad.

If you can get into the game and understand its systems it is one that has almost limitless replayability. The basic premise is that you play as a member of a family dynasty who controls anything from a single province all the way up to an Emperor. You try to continue your dynasty, producing heirs, advancing your agendas/territory/influence, etc. It's pretty awesome. But it's really, really dense and takes alot of time to understand everything. If you get it'd I'd suggest watching tutorial lets plays on youtube at the very least.

It is phenomenal. It is my most played game ever.

Sounds like my kind of game...seems any of the hate comes from the excessive DLC...any of it worth getting?

Hi, any gaffer from Brazil here? I would love some help. I'd like to buy Grim Fandango and Killer is Dead before the deals are over and since both games are cheaper there and I can activate them without issues it would be of great help. Of course I can paypal inmedialely. Send me a Pm if anyone can help. Thanks

Ok no DOA5 for me if they want to lower the discount, maybe I'll check out that Dead Rising franchise I am hearing so much about...

Yeah, it's but only a mere $4, but that would've tipped the scales towards an impulse buy for me, oddly enough (shoulda bought it before leaving for work).

Ah well, perhaps it's all for the best. I'm still waiting on sales for a boatload of games that I really do want.

I have GTA V on my Steam wishlist, and this is what it looks like:

You click "Visit Store Page" though, and you get this:

Screw you, Rockstar.
After the whole "bundle and call it a sale" thing I find it hard to believe this isn't intentionally misleading.

It's also in the "Top Sellers" section of the storefront looking like this:

It's also in the "Games on your Wishlist On Sale Now" section, AND I got a "A game on your wishlist is on sale!" e-mail.
Pretty goddamn shady.

All of the "big" releases are worth it. They tend to add huge swaths and systems to the game. Originally you could only play (roughly) Catholic Europe. They added other faiths and swaths of the old world over time. I'd suggest, at the very least, Sword of Islam, Legacy of Rome, The Old Gods, and Way of Life. You can safely avoid the unit and song packs (though the additional music is nice)

Yesterday evening Super Time Force Ultra was on sale for 75% off, as a flash sale, and countdown timer said there were 24 hours left.

I guess that was a glitch, because it's only 50% off now. :/

So broke. Gotta be super-careful with my purchases.

DLC in my opinion of usefulness:
The Old Gods (play as pagan ruler, longer time frame)
Legacy of Rome (retinues, byzantine stuff)
The Republic (merchant kingdoms, my fav type)
Sons of Abraham (play as Jewish ruler, stuff for catholics and muslims)
Way of Life (events to give fun when not at war)
Sword of Islam (play as Muslim ruler)
Charlemagne (even longer time frame, story driven events for key characters)
Rajas of India (play as Indian religions, not much here)

Some people love playing as a Muslim or Indian ruler and would move those higher. There is also a Ruler Designer DLC, but pretty much everything in that can be done via console if you don't care about achievements.

From what little I played of Dead Rising 3, it was alright. I liked being able to craft weapons w/out a workbench.

What put me off was that dynamic shadows would randomly flicker & shadow resolution for distant objects was noticeably poor. If the game let me just turn off all the unsightly shadows altogether I could've managed.

Rather petty reason to stop playing, but if you don't have OCD & enjoyed the DR2 games, it's more of the same fun. I didn't even try unlocking the 30fps cap so if that's a concern might want to research how dodgy it may be for you.

I've heard good things about Neptunia, but the art and character designs do nothing for me. Is it worth playing if I find it hard to stomach the sexy baby characters.

You played the wrong game. Neptunia has those things, but they are by no means the core of the game.

I was responding to a post that questioned and quoted a post on that subject. Quite aware of the gameplay though having played them through on the Vita.
