OR it it'll coax die hard PS4 owners and former 360 owners, to buy a bone
Why would BC make a PS4 owner sell their PS4 and get an XB1 instead of just buying a 360 for like 75 bucks.

Well there are some XBLA titles in that initial list so I assumed that others will come as well. Or were games like Banjo Kazooie and Perfect Dark available retail as well? The true megaton is if this concept can be applied to XBLA games. That would be a good move.
This just might be what forces their hand.
It doesn't. As far as why? If Microsoft can offer any 360 game for download with a licence, who would say no?
According to Phil Spencer it requires no effort on developers parts. All MS needs is their permission to enable BC for their games.
That and better framerate in my favourite games.
Didnt they do the exact same thing for Xbox 360 with bc for xbox1 games.
You had to download the game to be able to play it. but the whole thing was abandoned pretty quick i think.
Sweet. I hope this spurs some kind of response from the competition.
Does this need any effort from game developers no?
If yes, then why would they code it for free just for BC? Unless MS is paying for it.
No.
They're recompiling the binaries on a per game basis to make them natively compatible.
100+ titles available this holiday.
People need to understand this is only for preview right now to test things out with it. The list will probably continue to update with new games and by the time this rolls out for everyone the selection of games will probably be way bigger.
Could Dance Central 3 work?
It would be awesome if the dlc and game worked <3
Publishers who don't exist anymore or games with licensing problems. I'm fine with this system being used for selling digital version, but if it actually doesn't require work, they should add BC support to the firmware and let it work offline with existing discs rather than wasting bandwidth and forcing people to go through XBL.
I need the following games:
Pgr4
Lost odyssey
Red dead redemption
Nier
Dragons dogma
If not, this is pretty worthless to me.
Obscure Japanese titles like LO, BD, Tales are probably something not to get your hopes up for. I hope for our sake I'm wrong, but I just don't feel it.
I got all excited until I saw that publishers have to approve the process. There's no way they will given the current climate of HD remakes. There's a reason the very few games currently on the list are MS games or games they could easily get approval for.
LO and BD are Microsoft games, so there's no reason not to expect them. It would be really stupid if they didn't show up.

Would it be possible for Sony to pull this off with PS3 games on PS4?
It doesn't require development work. The code itself doesn't run without beign recompiled, so they do that on their end and then you download the 'new' working game. It's not a DRM scheme, the disc as it is written literally cannot run.
holy shit, they are going to software emulate Xbox360 on Xbox One? That is some serious technical wizardry right there...

No way in hell given the different architectures.
