GB gone full cynic.

you don't have to be a snide cynic to see through a carefully considered ploy to link yourself to a bunch of GAF pleasing announcements that are either in a dubious development state or are only loosely affiliated to your console, none of which have anything resembling a release date, in order to distract from your barren release schedule.

That GB conversation...they complain when killzone every 2 years comes out and now when GG have new IP they want same 1st party output to stay on same level.

really good post-conference discussion with some fair points

personally, i thought the conference was pretty good, pretty much 50-50, as usual with sony

They are just being pessimistic which is fine. They want first party stuff.

Yet they were shitting on announced PS4 exclusives.

MSFT releases NOTHING first party so far this year like Sony has, saves a few sequels for this fall.

Sony releases first party throughout the year instead of the fall, and it is nothing?

Why not spin their narrative to ask why MSFT has nothing all year first party until the fall?

It's actually kind of depressing that people are finding the Sony conference impressive. A bunch of pandering and a bunch of 3rd party games. Yeah, that's really impressive.

Like FF7 is cool and all but how long is that going to take? Seriously.

Also I'm not going to believe in the last guardian until that game boots off my console.

Wow guys GB isn't hyped about 3 games that they all have a clear history of having no interest in, so surprising. They also are making totally valid points. Sorry they aren't fueling your hype train.

Good conference overall. Lots of heartstrings as Giantbomb said. But overall I am pretty underwhelmed by Sony's first party presence.

Horizon and UC4 are looking good, but they're coming in 2016. TLG looked meh to me. FFVII remake is fine and all but not first party, it doesn't differentiate the PS4 from Xbox and PC.

And what the hell was this Shenmue showing? A multi-million dollars company like Sony, launching a freaking kickstarter on their E3 press conference begging for our money? That a new low in my book. Didn't like it at all.

Overall the conference was well paced though and very entertaining. I just don't feel like I got much to look forward to.

I'm so glad I'm not you.

That was the best conference ever.

GB gone full cynic.

Is it just me, or are they pretty much shitting on an amazing conference?

god these guys are a ton of fun. christ.

holy shit the giant bomb stream went downhill incredibly quickly.

Somehow GB finds a way to put that negative spin on the sony conference. Not at all surprised.

I really wanted to slap Brad there for a second with his dismissive attitude about the Final Fantasy 7 remake, lol. "It's a game you've already played before", oh god.

Jesus Christ, guys. Everyone turned into Alex.

giantbomb talk has been incredibly boring

Snark and negativity is becoming overbearing. I might be out on GB coverage for this E3, which I never thought I'd say.

They've always been grumpy dude bros, but wow. Taking it to new levels today.

lolol what were you expecting? Austin did a great analysis of the conference and everybody agreed, that it was a great emotional press conference. There's still a lack of first party, especially for this year. And it's okay to talk about it.

I agree mostly with them. I don't care for Final Fantasy, never played Shenmue, and am only curious about The Last Guardian. So while all of Neogaf is losing their mind, I'm kinda left not feeling it. I'm most excited for Forza, the Rare Collection, Mirrors Edge and Battlefront. So I see myself using my Xbox way more than the PS4 for the rest of the year.

I don't disagree with some of their concerns about the lack of games this year, but the cynicism towards what was shown is fucking perplexing.

And yeah, another user on here made a great point, lol a bunch of guys complaining about no games to play this year, when none of them have beaten most games that have come out this year.

its a really ignorant thing to say actually. I like Jeff, but that is the worst argument against a ps4. It really is just pedestrian.

depends on the consumer. for let's say a more hardcore gamer with sufficient disposable income, between steam sales and everything coming out on it generally better and with more control schemes, it's kind of a no-brainer

Very exciting conference, but yes, Sony's first party lineup continues to be dire. If they're willing to facilitate these crazy dream games, then, honestly, I don't really care.

'Why doesn't everyone just build a PC gaming rig' is such a weirdly simplified thing to say

"If you're willing to pay the upfront cost..."

You really need to understand that most people aren't, Giant Bomb.

Well... i was gonna watch the GB stream on Sony cause of the megatons but if they are just gonna shit on it maybe i wont, to help preserve the magical memories.

Didn't watch the MS one, but did they complain at all about the same Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable?

Stopped listening to them because of this. Just super annoying to listen to and now that Patrick I can't really stomach it. Love Gertsman and Vinny and still listen to their E3 stuff.

They didn't seem particularly excited about any of those. So, please don't even suggest some kind of anti-playstation slant.

If you think what they're saying is cynical then Giant Bomb probably isn't for you. This is how normal adults who've played games all their lives act about games. We've seen it all before so it's not suprising they're dissapointed.

Nah, they're overreacting. As a normal adult who plays games I'm thrilled that three of the biggest MIA titles are going to be happening. Brad saying "I hope not" at the start of the show about the possibility of Shenmue 3 was really lame. I get that he doesn't like it, but there are a ton of people who enjoyed the first two games and have been vocal about wanting to see a third. It's just petty to groan about it.

The fanboy in me wants to be very excited about TLG and the conference was a good time, but their points are extremeIy vaIid. I've aIways Iiked GB for keeping on a baIanced IeveI and not circIe-jerking over every IittIe thing.

They are totally making fair points.

I think some people here are so mired by nostalgia that they are ignoring some important problems with Sony's conference or their schedule for the rest of 2015.

Yeah, what Alex said seemed fair. I don't necessarily agree with it, but to each his own. Brad calling FF7R "A tremendous waste of resources" was in poor form though. That honestly just came of as salt.

I think they are half right about Sony first party but I'm not actually sure how much it matters.

They were extremely smart to attach themselves to FF7 remake and Shenmue 3.

Same, not a whole lot besides 3rd parties this year for Sony (i'll be playing those on PC). Still I'm hyped for what they announced, Horizon looks great hope its a 2016 game, Uncharted 4 is a must, Last Guardian, idk

I'm in the camp that Sony blew everyone away with this conference, will be hard for Nintendo to top this

I think it's pretty logical what they are saying what first party game was announced there that's coming out this year?

CG of FF7 to get you hype but that's it
Kickstarter of Shenmue
Sure last guardian is good

I don't even think they're that 'disappointed' just taking it all in calmly and talking about it normally. Skepticism is literally their job so it isn't surprising that is how they initially look at things.

The thing is that nobody is arguing devils advocate. I mean it is really easy to argue Jeff over why somebody would pick a ps4 over a PC, it isnt hard and nobody on the crew is doing it at all. I love GB but saying "why buy a ps4 over a PC when steam sales are good" is just beyond easy to argue.

It's absolutely true that their own enthusiasm can be curbed by few first party stuff only it actually won't reflect much on sales unless i have underestimated Jeff magic crystal balls.

Y'all are also viewing it through the scope of fans while they're trying to view everything from a business perspective.

Which makes sense, because we are all fans. But they, as journalists, have to view it from the business perspective as well. And they're pretty on point from that angle.

Maybe I'm the crazy one, but I don't really understand things like "The world didn't need another Uncharted". Probably because I loved Uncharted so I do want more, but it just always seemed like a weird stance.

To me, after seeing what ND did with The Last of Us, I would've rather have seen them put out a brand new IP than a fourth Uncharted game.

I loved all the Uncharted PS3 games and Uncharted 4 may be the game that gets me to buy a PS4 (if I don't own one at that point), the demo today looked fantastic, but I guess a new IP from ND would still be far more interesting to me. But hopefully that's what's due up next after Uncharted 4, so I don't mind a little extra wait.

Can we continue to talk about how amazing Johnny V is? His earnestness is about as endearing as anything. I want that man to succeed in everything he does.

just to be clear I don't think they're incredibly cynical or whatever, who gives a shit, they just seem understandably tired and not super entertaining. tuned out pretty fast so maybe the discussion improved.
