I'm sorry. But anyone who seriously thinks this was anything less than legendary is off their rockers and is way too salty. This was FUCKING HISTORIC.

Even if you, yourself aren't particularly interested in the games, how can you not recognize what went down tonight.

LOOK AT THAT FUCKING POLL. YOU SEE THAT?

That was a FUCKING JOKE POLL.

AND WE GOT ALL FUCKING 3 ANYWAYS.

BELIEVE.

I have to quote this for the truth. None of us in our right minds thought we would get even one of those games announced, and we got all 3.

Just FYI for those wondering about the 'budget' and Kickstarter:

psknzlE.png

People don't realize crowdsourcing helps bring more games to the table. Sony is bringing awareness to the pitch. 2M is chump change just like the tweet explains. The original game cost more than 70 damn mil!! But people will continue to be sour.

Shit be cray. I had almost no reaction to anything because it all seemed so far-fetched. Maybe it'll sink in by tomorrow. I feel like it was all a dream~

Can't believe there are people downplaying FF7R and Shenmue3. It doesn't matter if you like these games or not. Heck, it doesn't matter if you have never even played them.

As a person who plays video games, there is no way you can't understand how big it is to get the two of them in one conference.
I honestly didn't even know people wanted a FF7Remake until I saw the "FF7Re at E3? Sources say yes!" thing today. How long have people been asking for that? Why do people want it that badly?

Or rather, I thought about as many people wanted a FF7Remake as people want a SM64 remake or a MGS remake.

Man, the giant bomb guys were just all over Sony in their post show. Do they really just not like the playstation brand?

They were calling out that Sony had no games but...that's literally almost all that was shown at this conference.
It's not just Sony, they don't like anything. Overall, most of those guys are complete downers about almost everything.

Sony takes it. Holy shit, that was amazing!!! Everything that could've happened did. This was the best E3 conference I've seen in a long while. FF7 Remake and The Last Guardian for 2016; I'm so happy :)

Highly doubt FF7 remake is coming in 2016...I give it early to late 2017....*Sigh*

McD wants to hire you as their new global salt deliverer.

Ehhh, I'd have to actually be upset to be salty. And I'm really not, I'm glad that people who cared about these games finally get them. But at this point, it clearly wasn't for me.

I think we just became best friends

Well, actually the NMS stuff is legit. I like Sean, it was boring, but these guys are absolutely delivering what they are promising. I just dunno if it will actually be interesting in practice.

Yeah, maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention because I was bored. I'll cede my opinion on NMS.

That post history doe.

I think I've been rather clear on my opinion that FF7 is over-rated, and it's hard to debate that Sony's excitement over Shenmue 3 was out of place when they just asked gamers to fund the game themselves. Just go all in or don't take the kudos for it.
So without those 3 games, the conference wouldn't be as mind-blowing as it currently is, and if you don't care for the games, what else is there? I kinda need to see more of TLG to have a final opinion of it beyond "etherware", but the gameplay that was shown was a very small piece of a whole game. Out of the 3, it's the most appealing to me, though, now that it actually exists again.

Trying to wrap my brain around the need to post pictures of salt rather than have an actual discussion, but then again this place is like Chicago if the Cubs won the World Series right now

"People don't like what I like, so they're clearly just a fanboy." Yeah, I agree, not terribly productive.

I think because there is no timeline for release. Shenmue 3 says maybe Dec. 2017. Nothing on the FF7 remake. And TLG is coming out in "2016". Nothing for NMS release.

I just think some people feel like Sony threw out a bunch of far out games that may or may not appear. These games have been vaporware before and we are here again with release dates over a year and a half out.

Horizon, Uncharted 4, The Last Guardian, Dreams etc are all 2016. 2015 is already stacked, so who cares? There are way too many games for 2015 as is, so it's nice to start seeing more of 2016, and some snippets of what may come beyond.

Yeah, same feeling Giant Bomb

I was wondering what MS shown to warrant such acclaim, Tomb Raider is not exclusive either and one of the worst demos I've seen.
Gears 4 and Halo we've all seen before, would be like announcing Killzone and God of War. Not the original teams and in the past the same people have been down on these games, seen as played out.

Fallout 4 is not exclusive
Plants Zombies 2 not exclusive
Dark Souls III cut scene not exclusive
The Division not exclusive
Rainbow 6 Siege not exclusive
indie games that both seem to have covered well
Rare games collection that I've seen before
Sea of Thieves looks pretty good, long way off
Fable 4/5, erm yeah
Recore cut scene 2016 game

Software emulation BC on maybe a hundred old 360 games over time
Hololens on Windows

Forza 6 yes great I will buy XBO just for that game. Cuphead looks brilliant

I'm not seeing much good from either conference, much of the criticisms being labeled at Sony conference like third party this, timed that, shit we've played before or its 2016, I'm seeing on the MS conference too.

Fucking Ubisoft with there shitty downgrade. Every time I see a game from them, I smell bullshit. Worst. Company. Ever.

I don't wanna be crucified for saying this, cause I loved the show, but I could have used a little more Morpheus. What they showed did not invest my interest at all.

I know a lot of people wanted no Morpheus, and how the hell can I complain after that showing...but I want to be shown a game that makes me NEED Morpheus.

Agreed. One minute its on and then within a blink of an eye, on to spotify. What was the point of that. Out before next e3? Bullshit unless its expensive as fuck and they don't want to get bad press...

Now that GAF is functioning again, my thoughts on a Sony conference with huge ups and downs:

"That's an applause line”? "Games are the cultural zeitgeist”? "Full stop”? I have to admit, I thought I was in for a complete groaner from start to finish.

= yeah not great.

Then finally, The Last Guardian, with a release year, followed by Shuhei Yoshida saying "Fumito Ueda is great, don't believe what you hear about how we drove him to quit. Please don't leave us, Ueda! PLEASE?!” It just felt desperate giving him kudos now after everything that’s happened.

= agreed. weird. also I slagged the game off in another thread but looking at it again, its weirdly drawing me back in. Didn't look quite as blurry either lol!

Then on to Horizon. It looks good, but it also looks like the vertical slice du jour of Sony’s conference. I will wait that one out.

= agreed. need to see more. wasn't over convinced on the gameplay and it looked a tad scripted. Not too sure on the girl's character either...

Then Hitman with no gameplay, gab gab gab, digital release, blah blah blah, exclusive beta/DLC.

= what was this bullshit...

Street Fighter V comes on very VERY briefly and, oh BTW, another exclusive public beta. Public betas appear to be the new exclusive DLC at Sony’s conference.

= agreed and didn't look up to much. perhaps need better quality...

No Man's Sky had a slog of a boring demo, bragging bullshit that will never materialize (ll these stars are solar systems, for serious guys!). I started reading my book at that point

= tbf, I reckon Sony forced his hand and he didn't really have anything to show just yet or he is struggling to get a message to the average gamer as in " what is this game about " when in reality, its clear enough what it is. Its just not something which can or should be labelled and he probably feels that way about it too.

Media Molecule comes on and starts philosophizing garbage, then shows us what appears to be user created “experiences”. Basically, not a game, but Mario Paint for the artsy poseur in the gaming crowd.

= really interested in this but wtf is it all about. more importantly, the developers are even saying "that's what everyone is saying to us and we even think the same" so why the fuck has this been shown 2 years ago. How many more years before this comes out? Another 2 years?

Destiny expansion... yawn. Another Ass Creed… yawn. Final Fantasy Chibi game because… yeah sure why not?

= fucking boring. sick of this 3rd party arse kissing.

And then… Final Fantasy 7 remake. I’m of 3 different minds about this.
First, I am glad it exists just so people can shut the fuck up about it for the next 5 years before they start asking for it to be remade yet again.
Second, I’m glad that the remake will expose the younger generations to just how truly forgettable this game is without that wide-eyed nostalgia.
And third, I can’t believe they would announce something that cannibalizes FFXV. But then again, I don’t recall them giving a release date, which should worry people, since Square Enix isn’t great on their track record with games. If we don’t get firm release dates for KH3 and FFXV tomorrow, we should be concerned.

And then they followed it up with Shenmue III…. Kickstarter. It was just such a terrible contradiction. “We’re so excited to announce this game, but not excited enough to fucking fund it. Do it yourselves, gamers, we can’t be assed.” It’s just a terrible message when you actually break it down. It was literally just to take credit for something they aren’t even truly involved in, which is just stupid.
But at the end of it, at least we now have the "etherware trifecta" out of the way so people can stop fucking droning on about them. But being excited for a Kickstarter is like freaking out N64 Kid style before you’ve unwrapped your Christmas present.

= Agreed! Fucking Agreed! wtf is this all about? How about spending some of that COD bullshit cock sucking fund and putting their hands in their pocket and funding the game. Is this game ever going to come out? What is Sony doing other than a free advert on e3? fucking weird...

And it looks like exclusive DLC is still a thing, thanks to Batman Arkham Knight. I started reading my book again.

= yawwwwwwwwwwnnnnn.....

And then Morpheus happened, right? Blink and you missed it, seriously. I’m guessing they didn’t want to sour their presser with bad news that it’s still not affordable to own. Save that for next year, I guess.

= must be that.

Blah blah Spotify blah blah PS Vue blah blah blah.

And now I guess it’s Sony’s turn to give CoD fans their annual handjob with Black Ops 3! I was able to still read my book, go have a whole cigarette and make a cocktail on the rocks from the kitchen and it still wasn't done when I got back. More DLC exclusive and exclusive beta nonsense to top off that shit sundae.

= never liked it on the xbox and I don't like it now. fucking pathetic and a waste of money. Activision getting sucked off by the highest bidder. The joke of it is, after the gameplay reveal, COD probably looks the worst it ever has done to me. The co-op gameplay segment was fucking terrible. Terrible gameplay. Terrible graphics. Who in their right mind is paying for this shit!? Microsoft must be laughing their fucking arses off!

Then the video wrap-up. "OH YEAH, we need to show off Vita! Give it 10 seconds!!” Sony couldn’t make it clearer that their handheld aspirations are permanently dead.

A lot of time given to Disney Infinity and Star Wars. I still haven’t put my book down.

= tbf, it wasn't that long it was probably just the obnoxious dick who made it seem longer. God he was fucking bad...

And lastly, a delayed boot up of Uncharted 4: Nathan Drake Standing Still. I really felt bad for whoever fucked that up so badly.

So aside from the etherware trifecta, there was nothing really amazing to report, and some of that is shit Sony can’t even take credit for but are going to try to anyways, which rubs me the absolute wrong way, and the rest of the conference was just a bore otherwise.

But still, those 3 games alone do put them above Microsoft this year.

Only 2 more of these conferences to go, let's see what other big guns are left to fire. But Sony is clearly leading the mindshare pack so far on the good graces of others.

Sony have lots of exclusives still coming this year. They exist, even if they aren't your type of games. That's the thing with Sony, they cater to a vast audience.

Sick of hearing Microsoft have more exclusives when they have released fuck all year long.

Man, the giant bomb guys were just all over Sony in their post show. Do they really just not like the playstation brand?

They were calling out that Sony had no games but...that's literally almost all that was shown at this conference.

They are only good at making cynical remarks.

Sony wasted no time this year, just announcing game after game and the inclusion of some demos. The reveal of The Last Guardian, Shenmue 3 and FF7 remake legit shocked me since I pretty much passed off the rumors as typical E3 fluff, but I'm happy these games will eventually be released.

I'm most excited with Horizon because we can finally see what GG can accomplish outside of Killzone.

Fantastic conference! Unfortunately did not sell me on a ps4, as only 3 exclusives were shown, all coming next year.

Still a great show and REALLY happy to see the TLG and FF7 finally happening! Just as a owner of multiple platforms including PC, didn't really do much to interest me beyond looking forward to purchasing a ps4 sometime in 2016.

The one "big" game I didn't find too exciting was No Man's Sky.

They way they presented it I was hoping we might finally get a more in depth look at the actual game ("now I'll show you how to game plays"). But it ended up being the same old "look how big the world is!!!" showing they have already made like 3 times already

Gaf Appeal: 9.5/10.

Mass market appeal: 7/10.

Incredible conference for long-time Sony and JRPG fans, though can't help but feel as though many of the today's bombs will go over the average gamer's head unfortunately. Looking at forums aside from GAF, conference already seems pretty divisive. Who knows though. Uncharted looked incredible, Horizon was fresh, and they have Black Ops and Battlefront bolstering PS4's already crazy momentum. Damn I wish there was a price drop though :'(

What is the mass market for you?! Seriously, it had cod, ac and battlefront. You don't get much more mass market than that.

Up that mass market number. Mass Market appeal is huge. Black Ops, Destiny, Batman, and Assassins Creed. Those ARE the mass market.

They just got buried under megatons, and are not hip for the enthusiast crowd. Bit they are now slightly attached to the sony brand.

Add to that the gameplay that was shown. Lots of it, for big games.

They're always that way. Maybe they need a new hobby.

And do we really need to have that discussion again about how third party sells consoles.

I noticed the "Holiday Lineup" narrative is creeping into the thread lol. Dumbest thing i've seen ever. Fall is stacked already. Games only count in OCt-Dec apparently.

so does Atlus get their own conference? Or are we not going to be seeing anything from them. I know they had some info put out the other day, is that it?

regardless though this e3 has been phenomenal

I feel like banging my head on a wall.

Nah, that would be multiplatform, multilingual gamers for every significant press conferences.

Our kind is rare, I know.

PC will have the best iteration of any game. I don't need to play inferior console editions.

How much longer do you think consoles will exist? I give it one more console cycle after this one.

Exactly what I thought, well gamechanger, there you have it.

Understood, but there is still the question of how much funding is backing it. Watch the video, they are speaking of how they can expand the game if they reach certain goals.

What do you think the all-in budget for this game will be?

If you are going to put a game out there, you fund it yourself and say look how great we are. We are bringing a series back from the dead. You don't bring it out at E3 and say hey everyone please pay for this game we don't really want to fund, but make sure to give us credit.

What I think will be more interesting is rather than the $ amount its the unit count. The $ may get it funded, but the team backing it needs to know that there is a market beyond those donating to the cause. Shenmue has an incredibly rabid fanbase which you see in the rapid funding, the question for Sony is can we sell enough copies outside of those whom funded it.

There are two generations of gamers now that are the "core" audience.

1. People wanting to go back and play Final Fantasy 7 the way they imagined it and can't go back without its clunkiness hindering their enjoyment of the game.

2. An entire generation born after the game came out that want to play one of the biggest games of a generation and can't go back because it looks like:

It's not just Sony, they don't like anything. Overall, most of those guys are complete downers about almost everything.

Brad likes dota, Jeff likes the odd iPad game, newguy acts like he likes everything in his life all the time, &Vinny likes his family.

Naw. CoD, Destiny, Star Wars, Uncharted and Horizon are all stuff that normal gaming fans will love. I think there was stuff for everyone.

I like how everyone is overlooking that SONY TOOK CoD TIMED-DLC AWAY FROM MS.

I mean, holy shit. Thats a black eye MS is not going to recover from anytime soon...
