It'll be Sony. They would've paid good money to hit 3 home runs over 2 in their presentation. Who else could it be that would restrict it (for the time being) to a single console? Otherwise we'd see the usual "$x stretch for XBO" targets.
 
So what are the chances of getting Shenmue 1&2 on PSN? 0.00001%? There's a lot of people (myself included) who never played the first two. I'd think they would want to hype up everyone they can. But I guess there's the matter of porting, rights, and well, SEGA actually having any interest.

Also, $2M seems oftly small for a current-gen open world game. Surely Sony must've kicked in money behind the scenes to lock up the exclusive?

I spent more time with Shenmue I. I got it for Christmas and just spent probably a full week dicking around in that game before I even got on the main story. There was a point in the game where all I did, for several (IRL) days straight, was get up and head to the arcade and spend basically my entire paycheck on Space Harrier and Hang-On.

But I really enjoyed Shenmue II more. For as well crafted as Shenmue I was, it didn't really have much of a story (which makes sense, it's a prologue to a very epic story). Shenmue II really kicks things into high gear.

The best part of Shenmue I, IMO, was the Chai fight, followed closely by the 100 man fight.
 
Did my small part, just donated $30. First kickstarter thing I've ever done

I don't even own a PS4 (yet), or a dreamcast anymore to play 1 and 2.
 
Backed the digital release! I wish there was a physical release for the PS4 because I would easily increase my pledge for that. Wow! Are we all dreaming right now? This is incredible!

Shenmue II has a fantastic soundtrack too, and I hardly hear anyone talk about.
 
I'd very much like a Shenmue 1 & 2 remaster or remake, I haven't played the first two but I've heard phenomenal things about them.

Yeah, I'm out of the country this week so missed the conference and it sucks that i did. First time in a while I've felt like that when I've missed an e3 conference.
 
i thought that scene at the rooftop in shen 2 was the perfect "showdown" sequence and gaming couldn't get better after that. now imagine the same craftsmanship with new tech.

it's possible now. it will happen!
 
My hope for this game is that it can introduce and properly execute a premise for a video game which, based on what I've taken from the first two games, is likely going to be modern-day wuxia using magical realism. Every abnormal, superhuman feat should be grounded in something that Ryo and his companions have experienced and processed...the micro and macro details in this game should give credence to the epic conflict between him and Lan Di. This could be really cool.
 
If Yu Suzuki would have never gotten the chance to finish this, Shenmue's failure would have been his legacy. No matter how much Sega fans like me would have remembered how outstanding his career was, he would have forever been known for not finishing his greatest work.

I am so happy that Yu Suzuki gets to rewrite his legacy.

I hope Sega has at least a few hands in this.

Almost all of the capsule toys/prizes were Sega-related. That would be a HUGE blow if they didn't show up in part 3.

Not having any of the arcade games make an appearance would also hurt.

Many of the characters in S1-S2 have fighting styles based on the VF cast. Sure, it's not like martial arts styles can be copyrighted. But if Sega isn't assisting in some fashion, then a lot of those resources would go unused. Not having to model/motion-capture fighting moves for potentially dozens of characters would save a lot of time & money.

Dreamcast (with VGA box) for Shenmue 1 and OG Xbox for Shenmue 2 in the U.S., right? And Shenmue 2 is compatible with the 360 emulation?

May pick up a copy of Shenmue for my Dreamcast. I just backed this at $29 for the heck of it even though I never played the first two.

Let's be real, though. No Kickstarter game ever meets its release date. December 2017 will turn into November 2018 in a hurry. Patience will be necessary.
