Just curious, you guys still think PS4 will be BC in some capacity..

Probably, but at this point, the PS4 is getting quite a few games I'll be playing this year and even if Sony is miraculously able to implement a PS3 emulator for the PS4 I doubt I'll even care.

Had this been a launch feature, then I would have had much more use with it.

I have been watching e3 since it started, this was the best press conference (Sony) I have ever seen. I woke up this morning still not believing what I saw. Uncharted, Batman, Starwars BF, Last Guardian will all be taking my precious gaming time away from Destiny. Speaking of Destiny, that Taken King trailer was freaking awesome!!

Okay, I googled it. It came out on the Dreamcast, I was playing on PC at the time. And none of my friends had a Dreamcast.
Lol, and I love sport and had no clue who bo jackson is. I don't care about baseball.

well, case and point

Uncharted 4, God of War, GT 7, Horizon, Last Guardian.

there's a possibility that all those titles will be released next year. HOLY SHIT!

I reckon the likelihood is in the following order:

Uncharted 4 > The Last Guardian > Horizon (I think it may be a little bit delayed as it looks very ambitious) >> GT7 >>>> God of War IV (I'm guessing March 2017 for this)

thanks Sony you made me cry, twice ;) Teary eyes on TLG, totally lost it on FF7-R

doesn't get any better than this, still recovering

Well, hopefully they get PSN PSOne Classics emulation working on it. You'd think something like that would be a lock. I'd imagine that PS2 PSN stuff would be put in as well. But straight up BC for discs and for PS3 games? No, and it doesn't even matter. PSN PS1/PS2 purchases working on your PS4 would be "some capacity" and the only really logical type of BC to implement.

And on a completely different note - holy fucking shit, still in legit shock over last night. How did that even happen. Was watching the stream with the GameTrailers staff commentary and my mind was just too blown to even post. Best. E3. Ever.

The game play MS showed looked weak and it was from games we have known about for years....Sony showed a lot more interesting stuff I don't get it t all.

That's an opinion, one that they may not share with you. Who know how far out ff7 and shenmue are, and if they will even be any good as we saw nothing of those two games at the conference.

Conference of the ages. I think this is going to be one that we all look back on for the next decade. Great pacing, great games and overall great presentation.

The conference didn't actually offer much to look forward to this year or early next but ohhh boyyyyyyyyy TLG, SHENMUE?!!?! and FF. Ticking all those nostalgia boxes and finally gets them out in the open for fans to rejoice over their existence. Another 2-3 years before we will be playing most of them but still. Happy days.

Id be more concerned about H5 or G4 than FFVIIR or Shenmue 3 at this point.
view count must be broken (due to GAF crash?), I mean 12k posts, but only 36k views? Don't think I've ever seen that kind of ratio.
Well, one had historic game announcements that shook most gamers to their core and the other didn't. People just followed the heat.

For me, as a PS4 owner who do not care about TLG, Shenmue, Call of Doody Blop Blop Blop this was a dissapointment. MS won E3 hands down, and I am saying this as someone who does not own a Xbox One. The Last Guardian needs a major remake workover if it is to gather any hype from anyone else but old nostalgics right now it looks like a slightly rehashed PS3 game. Street Fighter is street fighter and nothing new.

Shame that Sony appears to have given up on true BC. I want to play my PSone and PS2 games on my PS4. I do not want to subscribe to a streaming service to play the games I already own.

Playstation Vue is absolutely useless and will never be available to me in Sweden anyway.

They treated the PS Vita as a distant dying relative. It will be dead by the next E3.

Indies did not get enough time and NO mans sky was given an insulting short amount of time.

Uncharted is Uncharted and even Sony appears to have given up on Until Dawn.

Best of the show was Horizon.

Sony 6/10
Microsoft 8/10

Oh please...

Microsoft 8.5
Bethesda 8
EA 7
Ubisoft 6

Sony 8

-Horizon, best of the show, extremely looking forward to this
-FFVII announcement was hype, i'm just worried this is gonna be the new TLG and we won't see anything until 2017-2018
-TLG looked like TLG, i'm happy that it lives
-Shenmue 3 is something idgaf (SORRY), really have no interest in this, but it was great to see some hardcore fans reaction (pretty much on par with me reacting to the new KI)
-Uncharted 4 looked fantastic, not like you can doubt ND to not deliver at this point

Other parts were pretty meh tbh, Destiny, COD, Disney thingy

It was a fun conference and a solid showing, problem is that what excited me the most won't be seen by the end of 2015 at all wich is a shame

I would've probably given a higher score with some extra stuff, like actual gameplay for the VII Remake or a 2015 release for TLG or at least less multis that i won't be playing on other platforms

It's a 9/10 for the entertainment, 7/10 for the content

Defenetely a huge step-up compared to last year anyway

Outstanding conference. Loved the Media Molecule and Horizon new IP's.

Highlight for me personally was the Last Guardian, such a feels moment. Shu just adding on the feels.

I'm really glad for the Shenmue fans. They are by far the most hardcore, diehard fans online, happy for the successful kickstarter. Suzuki is a boss, glad for him.

Can't wait for FFVII remake, never had a chance to complete the original.

Really lopking forward to Paris Game Show, there is a lot of studios yet to show what they got for ps4.

Conference that lived up to the hype, legendary threads everywhere. 10/10

Sony did a good job of covering up the distinct lack of anything tangible about Project Morpheus with FF7, Shenmue 3 and The Last Guardian.

Horizon looked like the best game of E3 so far.

Supremely confident showing from Sony last night.

Although it was relatively short for one of their pressers and a lot less packed with sheer numbers of reveals than in years gone by, that trifecta of huge surprises was enough to get their pitch across by itself.

Overall quality of titles shown was sky-high and the gameplay to cgi ratio was very gratifying. Horizon and Uncharted looked spectacular, NMS and Dreams looked genuinely radical, and although its easy to quibble over the amount of time spent on the AAA multiplats in the second half of the show, it cannot be denied that those games will be hugely popular and successful in the holiday quarter.

Despite Xbox's much improved showing, Sony still seem a step ahead to me.

Xbox people are very community group. All like same thing.
PS people are so variable.

And also lot of lurkers are PS fans.

You have to wonder if Sony pulled back on Morpheus after seeing Microsoft's Minecraft hologram. Which was actually the most impressive thing at E3, by far. I'm not convinced anybody is going to buy HoloLens, but it made for a hell of an E3 demo.

The reason the PS4 is so popular, IMO, is precisely because of community. You want the console your friends have so you can play with them, and Sony had the stronger offering out of the gate.

The perception in this thread that there is this huge worldwide thirst for remakes of ancient games, a sequel to a Dreamcast bomb, and a release of an 8 year old PS3 game is bizarre and just a bit out of touch. I'm happy for those who are getting their wishes fulfilled, but as a PS4 owner I wasn't entirely thrilled with Sony's conference. The lack of actually new stuff paled compared to what Microsoft put up.

Sony won hands down. The pacing was great, fulfilled all GAF dreams and has a super bright future.

I wanted MS to convince me to buy xbone. They failed.

Must be lack of sleep. Nothing really funny, but I got the giggles.

That was a decent showing, Sony. Try really hard, and maybe next year people will be impressed. *giggle*

Just curious, you guys still think PS4 will be BC in some capacity..

With the current amount of BC games right now on the Xbone, I think Sony didn't even flinched with that announcement.

If 50% of game publishers put their old games on that Xbone BC, then Sony might do something to counter that.

But it was fake as fuck.

I guess Sony wanted to focus on live show demos for people more than showing vids of the thing.

About the conf, i felt it was disappointing. I guess if i didn't knew at all about the 3 big, the legit shock would have stun me in amazingness like many others, but knowing about them i couldn't help but see the half empty drinks.

To me the conf was a lots of smoke and mirrors, shady vaporish announces, and not that much big first party reveals. I'm thinking like that cause i've seen many E3 confs over the recent years, and i've seen what the game industry can do. I've seen Spielberg come on stage and announce a Halo tv show not even knowing the fuck it was about.

There is a BIG difference between revealing a game that exists, and announcing the development of something. The path for an expensive epic scaled videogame is a long struggle.

can you imagine a movie buff having not seen the godfather?

or a sports fan who doesnt know who doesnt know who bo jackson is?

its the same thing imo

Agreed until I realised I have no fucking idea who Bo Jackson is... And have extra pay-TV channels just for sport events...

May I asume he plays a game which is interupted every 5 minutes by a TV commercial? :)

Great time to be a PC gamer. Sony did good to tie some of these games to their console as pseudo exclusives.

I think that's why I didn't go crazy over the conference. It was awesome, but aside from TLG, horizon and uncharted, I can play everything else somewhere else. Unfortunately those 3 games are a year or more out.

Hopefully GT7 comes next year too. Now that would be a kickass 2016 for Sony.

Ill agree with some that sony could have showed more.... but than i felt the same about Microsoft too.

What i am generally impressed with waa how Horizons was presented and this may be sonys fall 2016 game. It gives it over a year to develop and a few more conferences to see more. Thats how games should be revealed and not rushed to add to list wars

BC is vastly overrated on gaf. The general population rarely uses it. They move on to the next AAA release on their new consoles.

It is nice to have sure.

Enjoyed the conference, although I could have done without the COD DLC first bullshit (along with exclusive missions for Hitman etc).

I only own a PS4, but I don't see why loyal game playing customers should be deprived of any content for any period of time, just because of their platform preference.

Also, has there been any mention of the Bloodborne DLC?

Based on the bolded, how come you've ranked MS's conference higher than Sony's? Most of the stuff they showed was CGI trailers or non-gameplay sections. They also had plenty of multi-plat games like Dark Souls, Fallout 4, Garden Warfare 2, The Division, Rainbow Six, etc.

maybe they are just getting back at MS for doing it to ps fans for so long.

and no, Shu said later this year when he confirmed it on twitter though rather than at e3 or this summer.
