Metroid Prime Federation Force Announced (Next Level, 3DS, 4 Player, Mission Based)

Prime has become the moniker for anything non-Sakamoto Metroid, apparently. :/

It's probably named "Prime" because it plays similarly to Metroid Prime in terms of the first-person mechanics while also having you play as GF Troopers, which were prominently featured in Metroid Prime 2 and 3.

I really don't care much for this game and I admittedly am realaly disappointed we're not getting a "real" Metroid. That said I fully expected it to happen since it seems like Retro's next project should be co-ordinated at the NX. If we're getting a Metroid we won't get it on the Wii U.

That and, speaking as a huge fan even, I kind of lost sympathy for the Metroid begging after DKCTF, pretty much one of the best platformers that has come out of Nintendo, was shunned just because it wasn't a Metroid.

I find the treehouse stream of this game hilarious, they're so bad at team gameplay.

I've changed my mind on this game, it's great.

If nothing else let's give Treehouse props for showing how actual communication in team games is like, unlike what Ubisoft would like to convince us.

The music sounds pretty good. Althought, I don't know if that's background noise of the showfloor or not though.

The music instantly reminded me of the original Steel Diver theme and makes me wonder if it might be the same composer. Loved that soundtrack.

i thought it was a joke at first until in between the matches when he is actually getting upset with them for messing with him and no instantly obeying his orders

it's a game man why you haff to be mad

Ok yeah, I cannot watch this anymore. You're an adult, have some chill ffs.

The characters really didn't need to be chibi-sized. That alone turns a lot of people down, believe it or not.

If this actually had realistic soldiers and enemies including Adam and Athony I'd be way more interested. Hell, include Samus and set it during her federation days. A Wii U game like that would be really cool to me.

My heart still hurt for this "thing" (I'll never call it Metroid), but it looks pretty fun from what I've seen on Threehouse.

I feel very conflicted. I love Next Level Games, and I loved the first Metroid Prime as well, but this doesn't seem to follow anything set by that game besides the first person perspective. And the art style doesn't fit the series at all.

Oh my god! I saw this in Nintendo tree house and I thought that it is another crappy indy game.

Boom, it is new Metroid......

I don't like this fresh take on the series. Give me Prime 4 or Super Metroid 2 or nothing.

Now that I'm watching gameplay, I wouldn't mind this if it looked more like actual Metroid. The bodies are too bulky and everything looks bigger than it should.

This thread cements Metroid Gaf as the most entitled fandom.

It's a spinoff, stop moping around, it's not a real metroid game, it's just a spinoff set in an aproximation of the metroid universe.

Geez, this is almost as bad as y'all bitching about DKCR.

But it been a while since the last real metroid game.

I wonder if the controls are similar to Hunters when played on an OG 3DS. Touch screen for aiming, Left bumper for shooting and circle pad for moving?

So time for a update version of this replacing the zelda games with Other M and this?

Terrible that they put NL Games on this. They are such a talented developer and could do so much more than this troll-game.

I watched a little bit of the Treehouse stream (the fake forced banter is really annoying) and this doesn't even look good on its own. The comparisons to Monster Hunter are weird, MH has interesting complex combat and enemies. This is Metroid Prime lock on and very simple enemies.

So time for a update version of this replacing the zelda games with Other M and this?

Is anyone saying they wanted Other M now? Even if that Zelda fan image was correct, it isn't even applicable here. This doesn't even attempt to resemble Metroid beyond the shooting, is it any surprise that fans wouldn't be happy with it? If they want to bring in people by slapping a Metroid name on it, they have to expect people to be annoyed when the game isn't appealing to people who like Metroid.

All I can say is that I hope this is a sign that Nintendo is reviving the Metroid Prime Universe and that a proper installment is in the works.

What is this shit?

After so much awesome E3 news I return to GAF and see this. This is the new Metroid game. Damn GOAL shit in my Metroid.

Actually look like it could be a ton of fun....

But this is not the Metroid we wanted. No way.

This isn't supposed to be the Metroid you wanted. It's a cheap bone tossed to Metroid fans while they transition to their next console.

I think this whole E3 Hype and criticism has turned me off video games quite a bit.

Life was much better and happier before E3 because people didn't butt heads as much or whine about games we barely know much about.

How would people feel if they went the Four Swords route and the characters were different colored Samus?

Would that be less insulting?

Nintendo should just pay some talented Indie developer like the Shovel Knight or Guacamelee guys in peanuts to make a 2D Metroid. It'd be a bare minimum effort on their part and would probably end up awesome.

I'd just be thrilled for Nintendo to admit "Fuck, we don't get it. There will never be another Metroid game" because that would be better than what they've been doing for a decade.

I thought it looked like a lot of fun actually after catching a few minutes of it on the Treehouse. I'll have to keep my eye on it.

Would people still be as upset with this if it didn't have the Metroid Prime moniker (simply titled Federation Force), yet still took place in the Metroid universe?

Looks pretty fun from the treehouse demo. Im guessing the positive reception to Splatoon has motivated Nintendo to make more online multiplayer games, but this time in mission/campaign mode (see also the new 3DS Zelda).

And you know what, these games look much more fun to me than Assassin's Creed Unity, Destiny, Fable Legends, or w/e other bigger game that was supposed to sell me on this style. My only concern is whether these titles need voice chat to get the best experience. Splatoon didn't, but I'm not so sure about these two.

How would people feel if they went the Four Swords route and the characters were different colored Samus?

Four Swords resembled Zelda more than this. Look at Triforce Heroes for something that tries to expand on the series without throwing out what makes a Zelda game.
