Metroid Prime Federation Force Announced (Next Level, 3DS, 4 Player, Mission Based)

I also don't really get why they went the chibi/super-deformed style with this. The 3DS is perfectly capable of great visuals, so why did this title have to sink this low? A Federation spinoff honestly isn't a bad idea, I just wish it were on the console and utilizing the same artstyle as past MP games.

I mean, are Animal Crossing fans really getting fucked?

They got a pretty substantial 3DS installment just a couple years back, they're getting a cool little spin-off, another that's kind of lame admittedly but seems like it's just meant to expand the franchise a bit, and had a lot of neat playable content in Smash and Kart.

Misery enjoys company.
Metroid fans are worse off, I agree.

Another attempt at appealing to Japanese tastes I guess.

Look at the dislikes:

Deserved.

Wait, no.

They don't deserve those likes.

Posted about 20 pages ago but I'm still pissed so I'm venting

Fuck you Nintendo! Take your chibi ass shit and put that shit on mobile. How deaf are you people to the voice of your audience? How long have we asked for a true 2D or proper prime follow-up? Your E3 trailer for this on YouTube has a 9 to 1 ratio of dislikes to likes. Do you fucking think the fans are trying to tell you something? FUUUUUCCCCKKKKK YYYOOOUUUU.

Okay I'm done

Metroid sells like shit pretty much, folks. They're trying to expand the fanbase of the franchise by targeting this at 3DS-carrying kids who've never played a proper installment. You know that when you see Retro/SPD's next mainline game, all will be forgiven.

i feel like they did this cuz they where afraid of advancing the Metroid story so they made something in the same universe instead. i mean i dont blame em with how negatively Other M was received. i think they might still make a new Metroid but they're probably thinking really carefully on how the story will be

Metroid fans have it worse but the AC stuff is also bullshit.

Ey, want that specific resident or furniture piece ? enjoy buying those blind packs
And im not even sure what that Wii U game is, it doesn't even look like a proper minigames game.

Must be bizarre for Next Level Games to go from almost universal praise for Luigi's Mansion 2, to the massive backlash they're getting for this.

I mean they're clearly reasonably intelligent human beings who probably have their finger on the pulse of the internet.

There's no way in hell most people didn't see this coming.

It's like we are becoming the old people that hate change.

No.

Nintendo are the ones that are wrong.

I may be becoming old, but I don't hate change. In fact, I have many ideas about the logical ways I'd progress and change Metroid if I had control over it -- That stayed in the spirit and tone of the classics.

Core fans of Metroid love it for its sense of solitude and exploration -- and thick atmosphere. It's not surprising that a cartoony multiplayer game would rub many of them the wrong way.

You'd figure. Some of the reactions in this thread, tough, are pure youtube comments section material.

Yeah.

If there is a real Metroid in development and it was pulled out last minute before the recording like the Nintendo Land fireworks show ending they must be pissed.

Despite the overreaction from the community, this looks like a neat time killer w/ online co-op. If it is discounted I'll probably make a purchase.

Maybe NoA should soften the blow a bit by RELEASING ZERO MISSION ON THE VIRTUAL CONSOLE. It is already available everywhere else after all. Jesus Christ.

After watching the Treehouse, I think this looks pretty fun.

Agreed... looks like a blast but obviously intended as a spinoff of the main series. Other than the HUD the use of Metroid seems very loose for this title.

Looks more like a Halo [theme/design] x Fantasy Life [art style] x Monster Hunter [4p] mission driven game. Won't outright dismiss it though. Just not the Metroid game I was hoping for.

Did Metroid Other M receive backlash pre-release or was all of the backlash post-launch?

If yes to the former, then there's your answer. Otherwise... well there was the AC WiiU meltdown in the same Nintendo Direct.

Post launch and people played through it. Pre launch was skepticism and hesitence with Team Ninja developing

This thread cements Metroid Gaf as the most entitled fandom.

It's a spinoff, stop moping around, it's not a real metroid game, it's just a spinoff set in an aproximation of the metroid universe.

Geez, this is almost as bad as y'all bitching about DKCR.

Are you blaming the Metroid fanbase for, after 5 years of absence, feeling disappointed with the return of their favourite series in the form of a low budget spin off of an already shitty spin off? Really?
