I actually like the spin-offs. If they're killing the Wii U early it should at least have a diverse amount of games even if some of them are low tier. I also like the FE anime pandering since I'm in that demographic, though I think it's totally understandable if you're not happy about it since I know anime tropes don't appeal to everyone.
Otherwise it was definitely poorly paced with no megatons though.

All of these games really do look great. Like, across the board. Even Happy Home Designers and Metroid - the two games I thought looked the weakest in the direct (aside from Skylanders and the AC board game) - are now looking like games I will buy.
These are smaller titles in scope and ambition, stopgaps to ride out to NX no doubt, but for what they are they're looking really enjoyable.
That doesn't mean the direct itself was still anything more than rancid tree rot, though. There was no hype, no sense of bombast to reassure skeptical fans, and nothing to compete with the levels of greatness Microsoft and Sony bought.
In fact, this direct made Nintendo look like nothing more than a supplementary company for gamers who play Xbox/Playstation to use as a secondary resort when nothing is available on their console of choice. I know that has been a common sentiment for a while, but never have I seen Nintendo play so directly into that stereotype that has been created for them.
Again though, next year bombs will be drop. Nintendo E3 2016 HYPE!

The quality of the direct was fine and i liked the puppets, but I´m so disapointed for the lack new games (or anything).

The whole Digital Event thing stinks of Nintendo in coasting mode. They've done it before, I'm thinking E3 2007, 2008, 2009 etc They didn't need to do jack shit in those years and their showings reflected that.
This time around, 3DS is steady but probably never going to blow up like DS, It's on the way out but they aren't ready to announce its successor. While console-wise, Wii U performance is lacklustre and never going to recover. I guess they didn't feel the need to really push the boat out this year. Last year was kind of do or die with Bayonetta, Smash and Mario Kart and it didn't work out hugely.

Very underwhelming showings. The only cool thing about it was Xenoblade Chronicles and Fire Emblem and neither of them were huge surprises. Also, why not make another Super Mario Strikers instead of yet another Super Mario Tennis game, really disappointed by how focused they are on some franchise while neglecting others who are in some cases, superior.
Also, what is Monster Games and Next Level Games working on? Nothing so disappointed. Where is Retro? Didn't they also said that they are moneyhatting some big 3rd Party collaboration? Where is that Pokka fighting game?

Made worse with the puppets lol. They have to understand that a cheeky approach like that only works if rest of the content is going to please the fans. It's never going to replace actual fan pleaser games.

Folks here really need to separate bad announcements from bad software lineups.
This was a bad announcement. Nintendo overplayed their hand in 2014 and paid the price for it this year by having to reiterate everything we already knew.
But after the 2014 Digital Event, I pre-ordered four games for the Wii U that all came in the back half of the year: Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, SSB, Captain Toad. All of them ranged from fairly good to stupendous.
After the 2015 Digital Event, I pre-ordered four games for the Wii U that are coming for the back half of this year: Super Mario Maker, Yoshi, Star Fox, Xenoblade. On the face of it, not that much weaker (and that's with skipping the Animal Crossing spin-off and probably Mario Tennis). Granted, last year we had MK8 DLC and the packed-in Bayonetta 1 to keep us company, but this year I know I'm not remotely done with Splatoon.
Admittedly, people not already on board with this console have no reason to get aboard now. But as someone who is a Wii U owner, I'm just not worried. I'll have more than enough to play.
Do things look bleak for 2016? Sure they do: really bleak. Zelda is likely to be bumped (now that we have a confirmation they'll talk NX next year) and SMTxFE, already very niche and divisive, isn't anywhere close to a western release. My Wii U calendar for the first half of 2016 is empty, whereas this year we at least had Kirby and Splatoon. We were told we'd hear about games up to "early" 2016 and there's nothing of interest there. But I'll worry about that when I'm through the backlog of everything out this year.

Well, if they're honestly listening and comparing it to last year, the reason it fell flat should become immediately apparent. Which is good.

Yeah, I think a lot of people are on the same page. It's a 2008 to 2009 sort of transition.
The whole thing was just them painting in big red letters on the wall: "We know we failed, let's just get this generation over with."
The Digital Event was badly executed and there wasn't enough for WiiU. But, other than that the games they did show look mostly great.
We shouldn't forget that Nintendo's e3 'conference' is still happening technically over on the Treehouse live stream. And that 'canniblised Metroid game" everyone is slamming is actually looking really cool, as did Starfox.

It was more what those games were, for me. It just seemed as if Nintendo were running out of ideas and there's nothing there that I found really exciting. I wanted to see more stuff like Splatoon, or something along those lines. Everything outside of Star Fox just looked derivative and uninspired.
We got:
- Port of Hyrule Warriors for 3DS.
- A spiritual successor to 4 swords which looks like a slapdash game made from LBW assets.
- An animal crossing/mario party mash up
- Another cheap looking game with the Metroid name slapped on top for whatever reason.
- Yet another mash up of two Nintendo formulas (Mario RPG x Paper Mario)
- And another Mario Tennis game.
- As well as footage of games we've known about for the past 2 years already.
Nintendo's occasional gems like Splatoon etc don't really dismiss their incredibly formulaic and safe line up for me. As someone who's supported them since launch with both the 3DS and Wii U, I just expected more interesting games. Not a bunch of Mario/Animal Cross and Zelda spin offs.
Man, they should had use the mini-direct and Smash stuff on THIS direct to save it. This was boring to watch. Star Fox had my interest and still does, but everything else was boring.

All I gotta say is thank God for Kickstarter. Yookulele, Bloodstained and now the possible chance of Shenmue 3 coming to Wii U with stretch goals have kept the platform with some hope of new games in 2016/2017.
Pretty much how I feel. Plus, I believe everything they showed will be out by spring 2016
I also don't understand why people thought they were going to keep trying to sell the wiiu. Its "dead." There's nothing they could show that would revitalize sales.
Was curious myself. Someone in this thread said that it is coming on arcades very soon so they couldn't show it at E3.

The game hasn't been released on arcades yet. They will reveal the Wii U version after that.

I'm 38 and remember people hyping/criticizing games based off of EGM and Nintendo Power screenshots. Gaming has always been like this, you just weren't paying attention.
It's really kind of sad this year especially.
I feel like this is the most exciting E3 in over a decade with announcement after announcement of games I'm excited about.
Nintendo should be part of this but, instead, they basically took the year off.

One of the worst E3 shows I've seen. Barely new content, and what they showed either looked dated (Star Fox) or not what I asked for (Metroid Federation Force, Animal Crossing Party).

Well that was something Ninty. That was something.
Yeah, some of the games, like the Metroid thing, wouldn't have been as trashed by people if a huge game was announced next to it. It would be like "oh ok, might be fun, might or might not play it", instead of "nintendo, you're ruining my life and pissing on metroid's grave".
I liked the paper x mario & luigi stuff. Looked fun. Starfox maybe has potential, and Mario Maker was awesome. Oh and yoshi is yoshi so thats all well in good. The rest was a little bland and the metroid prime thing was just a kick in the balls.

Man I just wasn't feeling it with the Paper Mario and Luigi game. I finished Paper Mario Sticker Star, but wasn't able to get through Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. It felt like a chore with so many tutorials I was burnt out halfway through. 5 years ago I would have been thrilled at the concept though
I'm usually still happy about Nintendo showings others complained about, but this time I'm totally in line with them. The only new Wii U game was Mario Tennis? It should've been Strikers so much. Xenoblade release date at least, but it had to be the latest possible to be still in 2015.
The Metroid and Zelda multiplayer games are sure fun, but I'm not a MP person, so that's a letdown. Still not feeling FExSMT and new FE was CG only.
At times like these it's painfully obvious, they're not big enough for a constant stream of games to support their platforms without 3rd party support.

Paper Mario, Star Fox, Metroid Federation Force, Zelda Trip Force Heros and the 3DS animal crossing spinoff looking good after seeing more footage and information of them on the treehouse. Pretty decent E3 for Nintendo.
