Yes,
FE and SMT x FE look bad in general.
bad trailer doesnt mean bad game. the trailer also told us a lot about how the game will bring together SMT and FE in my opinion. now we need details on the battle systemIf you can seriously say the new FE looks bad then I'm not sure if you've been paying enough attention. Some of the "extra' stuff like base building isn't necessary, but they are making a lot of interesting changes to the core gameplay that show they are taking the evolution of the actual gameplay pretty seriously.
Won't argue with you on SMT X FE, I'm in that boat with you. The one character I thought had a cool design actually got shoved FURTHER back in the only still shot she was in.
I'm not so sure I call chibi Final Fantasy a great art style
Nintendo becoming a 3rd party doesn't seem so bad right now eh?
Sorry but FE Fates looks like Awakening with a ton of content
Nintendo: here are some expected or otherwise bland announcements of games you already knew we were working on.
Sony: Here are three of the biggest third party announcements that people have been asking for over a decade
It isn't just that Nintendo's outing was poor, it's that Sony's was so incredibly well received.
Yeah, not even ONE SINGLE new title for New 3DS.
Zelda?
Metroid Federation Fighters?

I could only halfway watch it at work. I don't get all the hate. I knew going in it was mainly about StarFox and Mario Maker and I thought those look great. They said Zelda wouldn't be there. Sure I wish there was a console Metroid but they did pretty much what I expected.
What has everyone up in arms?
Not at Paper Mario, Paper Mario game

FE and SMT x FE look bad in general.
thats what they explicitely did not want to do this year. this means that we will have to wait until the january direct in 2016 since from now on out they will focus on the new releases.
maybe next weeks investor relations conference?
no way it will be next year. 2016 E3 reveal and 2017 holiday release is probably the reasonable guess
My thoughts were also that they're shifting development to the NX, but how soon could that possibly come out? They said we wouldn't hear any details about it till 2016, but would they release it that soon? The Wii U was first unveiled at E3 2011 but wasn't released for a year and half later. So if there's a similar timeline, we're not seeing NX till 2017. So what, then, in the meantime?
Nintendo does still have some good stuff coming, but this was their moment to show off something new and unexpected. Honestly, I was half-expecting a Splatoon-like surprise of a new IP or something new and fresh. But it was all rehashes of previously-announced games and most of the new stuff was nothing special.
So basically, the theme of Nintendo's E3 was taking beloved franchises and finding ways to butcher them to death while fans shriek in horror?
Honestly -- what did they expect?
Here's the thing. If Sony has JUST shown the World of FF game last night, it would have been cute, but kind of weird and disappointing after months of rumors regarding the remake. It would have still been a unique title, but it would probably fall into the category of "something no one asked for but that people will play."i agree that they did not deliver on the expectations (OMG Nintendo Direct shortly before E3, Smash direct directly before E3 this means E3 Digital Event will be huge)
....but seriously are you more excited about a remake of an old game then a brand new FF game with a great artstyle?
On one hand, we complain that publishers show us games waaaaaayyyyy too early, on the other hand, we want Nintendo to start announcing games as soon as they begin development. Also, we act like it would make all the difference if they held all the content we already had until this E3 event. As if that would've changed how we enjoy the actual games.
So we're just dealing with whiny children on Christmas morning who got a dog instead of the pony they wanted? Got it. It all makes sense now.
yeah but they can't keep the wii u in an almost dead state for 2 yearsIf its planned for next year. We would have seen it today.
I liked Starfox, Yoshi and Mario Maker but I liked them when they were shown last year too.Am I the only guy who really liked what Nintendo showed?
Like, I'm genuinely surprised to see this amount of backlash.

Shit im huge Nintendo fan all my buddies on twitter are a bit phased too. Except for like ZephyI'd label it Sony and Microsoft fans in the Nintendo thread. Haha. I don't think Nintendo fans really gave a shit.
After reading those comments I finally put the finger on why that digital event felt so disturbing to me: I felt insulted watching it. They took what I love the most about Nintendo franchises and they made fun of it. They made fun of me.
SE introduced Kingdom hearts with a mobile title, but then moved on to KH3 footage. Sony introduced FF with World of FF, but then moved on to FFVII Remake. Those were scripted emotional events, bringing people's expectations down and then immediately rebounding so much higher.
Nintendo mentioned Star Fox (the lesser offender) and showed the crappiest textures on a WiiU title yet. Then they mentioned Zelda and showed a tiny filler DS title, and stopped there. Then they mentioned Metroid Prime, and showed a tiny filler DS title and stopped there. Then they mentioned WiiU Animal Crossing, and showed a party game with amiibo prereq. And then they mentioned a new WiiU mario game, and showed a tennis filler title.
They never rebounded from those low points. It was just a streak of low points. They took all the franchises people were expecting the most of, and they destroyed every one of them with insignificant filler titles. They didn't promise anything after those. They just showed the lesser version of everything, and then stopped.
I'm a die hard Nintendo fan, but I can't defend that. It feels like a terrible effort at content between 2 cycles. At that point I'm scared they redirected the next Zelda to be a launch title for the next system, along with a proper Metroid.
I should make a tally of how many times I see the same phrases
Slap in the face, Insulted, Gut punch. Lots of unwarranted hate.
I liked some of the titles shown but was overall left unimpressed. What specifically did you like?Am I the only guy who really liked what Nintendo showed?

Sorry but FE Fates looks like Awakening with a ton of content (and a hefty price tag) and SMTxFE is too early to call since we havent seen any gameplay yet (it will be out pretty soon though)bad trailer doesnt mean bad game. the trailer also told us a lot about how the game will bring together SMT and FE in my opinion. now we need details on the battle system
uh... yes. reminds me of the old school FF games.. also warriors of 4 light, theatrythm, final fantasy 9 were all much much better than any of the more "realistic FF games"
Am I the only guy who really liked what Nintendo showed?

EA and others predicted a 5-6 year cycle on the competition. Even if they release new consoles in 2020 or 2021 like you predict, we still deal with the idea that Nintendo expected its fans to buy two different consoles in one gen. It's not a good look, see Sega 32X and Saturn.
Speaking of third parties, Nintendo will have to put forth a massive and expensive effort to get them back on board, but it's not just about money. They need that huge install base, that Xbox/PS audience, because developers love multiplats.
If Nintendo is going to get any third parties for NX they'd better do it soon, becuase the third parties need to get their NX dev kits and need time to actually make games for the thing. Launching before anybody has time to finish games to support your console is a recipe for failure, see Sega Saturn.

You know what Nintendo's direct looked like? Like the work of a company that was planning to have Zelda out this year and had to cobble together some shit when that didn't happen.
Am I the only guy who really liked what Nintendo showed?
NX better be a homerun or Im staying far away from Nintendo foreverrrr *dramatic music*
